Birthday special.

"Gild are you busy,I need your help?" I called to my best friend Gilderoy Lockhart. The blond turned to face me

"What can I do for you Y/n?" Gilderoy asked

"It's Sev's birthday soon and I need some to talk gift ideas with" I explained to him

"A birthday well why didn't you say so" Gilderoy said happily" I would be happy to sing Happy Birthday "

"I did say it was for Severus and he would more than likely strangle you if you tried to sing for him" I pointed out

"Oh yeah" Gilderoy said "Oh I know ,how about some magic tricks?"

I laughed at that one" Gild we are all magical "

"Don't spoil my fun Y/n" Gilderoy said sulking " You asked for my help after all"

"Yes I said gift ideas" I explained

"Okay so what do have in mind?" Gilderoy asked

"Aside from a fresh supply of Potions,I don't actually know" I said

"Your are the man's girlfriend y/n,aren't you supposed to know what he wants?" Gildeory asked

"Well yes but Sev says he doesn't want anything but I want to get him something anyway " I said

"Right...er...I don't know " Gilderoy said

"Some smart Ravenclaw you are Lockhart" I said

"Takes one to know one" Gilderoy says childishly.

After unsuccessfully getting ideas from my best friend,I decided to ask other members of staff what I could get Severus for his special day. Sadly though most of them didn't know either, even Albus couldn't help me this time. Even though I still have plenty of time until Severus's birthday,I am no closer to deciding on a gift for him. At this rate I will end up doing what he wants,and not get him any gift. But I didn't want to do that,Sev gave me so much for Christmas and now I want to repay him but how?

With only two days to go I finally managed to get Severus several gifts for his birthday. I am just making my way to the great hall for dinner when Gilderoy came running over to me

"Y/n I've got it" Gilderoy said

"Got what?" I asked

"The perfect gift for your grumpy man" Gildeory said grinning

"Ok tell me" I asked eager to hear what he had in mind

"Why don't you ask Snape to marry you" Gilderoy said shocking me" Now I know it's traditional for the man to ask the woman,but why not be different and ask him"

I just started at Gilderoy hardly believing what he had just suggested

"It's a good idea Gild but...well...we haven't exactly talked about that yet" I said

"Talked about what?" Severus asked appearing behind us

"Oh nothing " Gilderoy said hurrying off into the hall

"Gild was just asking what we planned to do for Valentine's this year,and I said we hadn't talked about it yet" I said to my boyfriend, Severus looked down at me but said nothing. The two of us walked into the great hall and sat down at the staff table.

The day had finally arrived and it is now Severus's birthday,but you wouldn't know it though. Me being me I decided to try and keep Severus happy for the day. It wouldn't be easy though but I would damn well try my best. And one way to do that was to keep Gilderoy from annoying Severus to much,the D.A.D.A professor ment well but sometimes he got even on my nerves. Especially since for some strange reason he has taken to singing,why even Merlin couldn't tell me.

With the day halfway done,and as both Sev and I have free lessons the two of us made our way to our shared room to spend some time alone. I sat down on the edge of Severus's desk as Severus moved about doing things

"Come on then Madame,hand them over" Severus said standing in front of me

"Hand over what?" I asked,Severus just gave me a look"okay fine,but how did you know?" I asked standing up and walking over to my desk

"I know you Y/n and I know fully well that despite me asking you not to,you went ahead and got me gifts for my birthday" Severus said

"That is true" I said hand him the gifts" But trust me you will love these one's" I had gotten my hands on a rare potion book and some equally rare potion ingredients. The ingredients didn't grow on school grounds but somehow they where inside the room of requirement when I went in.

So what do you think?" I ask

"I'm not sure how you even managed to come by this book,only five of them are said to be left in England " Severus said

"I'm just that smart" I said,Severus walked over to me

"You got it from the room of requirement, didn't you?" Severus asked

"How did you know that?" I asked

"I know you too well Y/n" Severus said smugly

"You're a git but I do love you " I said standing up and wrapping my arms around the potions master

"Well you are only human" Severus said before kissing me.
