Marceline Abadeer (aka Marceline the Vampire Queen), is my favorite Adventure Time character as well as my favorite cartoon character of all time.

Not only is she a badass bitch who plays an electric axe-bass guitar, but she's also canonically black, which makes me love and identify with her even more. Her debut was iconic and she makes the show better in general. I also love how she's more of an antihero than a goody two shoes like Finn. 

And can we talk about her powers?!?! She can fly, shapeshift, raise the dead, turn invisible, suck souls, heal herself, and so much more. Not to mention the fact she's half-human, half-demon, AND half-vampire. This girl is really a goddess!!!

But we can't just give all the praise to Marcy, we also have to acknowledge all the events that made her who she is:

- Her demon dad neglected her only to come back and try to make her follow in his footsteps, but their strained relationship improves with time.

- Ice King, or Simon, was a surrogate father to her, but after the crown drove him insane, she was left all by herself.

- Her mother, Elise, tried to protect her as they survived the Mushroom War, but she ultimately lost the battle against sickness.

- She hunted vampires and damn near saved what was left of humanity, but during her final battle against the Vampire King, he bit her and made her the final vampire. She then had to repeat this cycle again, but in the end she came to terms with being the Vampire Queen.

Now Marceline is living happily ever after with her bestie/girlfriend, Princess Bubblegum and all their friends.
