A Shifter is a very large category for this world and is very common among magicals. 

There are different types of shifters, 

Weres: These only have two forms, and usually cannot control when the shift. Weres are where the human 'Werewolf' came from. Their first form is usually something humanoid, while their second is an animals. However, a small percentage of Weres can control their shifting. 

Chameleons: These shifters change form to match their surrounding, they don't usually do on purpose, but they can is that is what they truly desire. Chameleons are humanoid, and change colors and shape to match the plants around them. Chameleons always have a few features about them that stay the same when they shift. 

Changers: These shifters can only change form with things they have come in contact with. They are the most common are their birth form can be anything. 

Shifters: These are considered the rarest and most original shifters of all. They can change into anything they want consistently and don't rend to have an original form, as they don't maintain form very often, but they do have a certain shape they take when they are idol.
