Part 3 : Past or Present?:
While the children are doing their things(this is after Dewey and Webby leave, and while Louie and Huey are making their bet):
Mrs. Beakly was mumbling to herself after she closed the door behind Dewey and Webby running of with Lena.
She was walking to the kitchen to grab the coffee tray, and newspaper for Scrooge. This was her everyday routine after all. Wake up, make breakfast for everyone, bring Scrooge his morning coffee and newspaper!.......Then clean some more, and cook lunch, bring Scrooge ANOTHER cup of coffee......and another newspaper! Then clean, cook diner, and finally put the kids in bed! The kids always tend to end up on Webby's floor, sleeping like babies, after a long crying session. Even after she sent them to THEIR ROOMS, she just couldn't seem to tear them apart! It was like a never ending story for her, with no vacation. But she loved her job, and no matter how much the boys drove her crazy, she still loved them, and.........she loved Webby, if she ever quit, which she doesn't want to, but if she did, what would her granddaughter do?!? She'd freak! It'll be hard to tear her away from the boys' grasp......especially the blue one! Webby and him have been really close lately, so quitting WASN'T an option!
She walked out of the kitchen, with the tray and newspapper in her hands. Sighing, she headed up the stairs towards Scrooge's room.
She was now crossing the triplets room, hearing bickering, assuming it was Louie and Huey. She just shrugged and walked past their door, she didn't feel like dealing with them today. Plus, she trust that Huey could resolve their conflicts with his brothers. He was the mature one after all. She also didn't want Scrooge to become cranky about his cold coffee. He really doesn't like his cold coffee!
Time skip to the outside of Scrooge's door:
She was now outside of her bosses door. Knocking loud enough for him to hear her and answer the door.
"Oh, hi Beakly! I see you have me afternoon coffee and newspaper." He stepped aside, letting her in to put the tray on his bed.
The newspaper that she picked out intrigued her. It was a fishing competition, and she was thinking that maybe since he and his nephew, Donald, hasn't talked in a while......she thought that maybe they'd like to do something like this for fun.......TOGETHER!
Scrooge was looking out of the window, when Beakly surprised him with her saying this, "Sir, there's this fishing competition, and I thought that you would want to join. So...maybe you and Donald could go-no, you both SHOULD go!"
He turned around instantly after hearing her say that he'd have to spend time with his nephew! Out in the ocean! JUST THE TWO OF THEM!
"What?!? You suspect me! To go an hang out with 'him'! In the middle of the ocean!" He turned back around, looking out of his window again, finding interest in a tree. "NO! We'd kill each other in the first two minutes!" He slammed his cane on the ground.
Beakly spoke calmly, trying not to start a fight. "I disagree! I think you both would have a great time! With your hunger for adventure, and Donald's...." She hesitated, trying to find the right words. "...And with Donald's.....'fishing skills,' you'd both do great during that competition!"
"Sure!" Scrooge said sarcastically, still looking out of his window, squeezing his cane in his hands tightly. "I DOUBT that 'we'd' have fun together! And if this is your way of getting us to talk-"
Beakly cut him off, somewhat shouting at him now, slamming the newspaper on his bed, making the coffee in the cup splash a little on the tray. "You can't just let this 'thing' that happened years ago about Della, get in you and Donald's way! Things need to change, weather you like it or not!"
He was fueled with anger, he snapped around to shout back at her, pointing his cane at her. "You can't tell me what to do! And don't you DARE tell me or me nephew to forget our past! That's like telling us to forget.....forget...." He slowly turned away from Beakly, trying t fight back tears that he's been holding in for so long. "Forget......'her'. Don't tell us to forget her." He said calmly this time, with his voice cracking a bit.
Beakly slowly answered back to the back of Scrooge's head. "I'm sorry......and I wasn't telling you to forget her. I just wanted you to start talking to your nephew again, and I think this competition is a good opportunity." She walked out of his room, leaving the tray, newspaper, and a confused old and sad adventurer in the room.
He sighed, glaring at the newspaper from the corner of his eyes. "Oh fer the love of!" He muttered to himself, walking over to the newspaper that was still sitting on his bed. He grabbed the newspaper, reading over the fishing competition article.
"Maybe she's right, maybe we could...actually do dis fishing thing......and come out alive! Maybe even win!" He closed the newspaper, and with more confident and adventurous expression on his face, he headed for the door.
Outside of his door:
He remembered something, so he called the only person he knew that could steer and crash a boat perfectly.
"Hello, Mr. McD!"
"Launch Pad! Just the guy I wanted to talk to!" Scrooge said in a more upbeat tone, holding the phone to his ear. (Where are their ears?!?)
"What can I do for ya?" The man-child asked.
"I need ya to steer one of me boats for meh! Ye think yer up fer the challenge?" Scrooge smirked
"If it's anything like flying a plan, driving a car, or a submarine, then I think I'll crash it just fine!" He exclaimed, confident.
"Perfect! And you can crash it however ye want, cause it's going to be one of the normal sized ones that I don't really care for! NOT me yacht!"
"Great! Soooooo, when do you need to be out in the water?" He questioned with a smile, like usual.
"Today! Meet me at the docks at 2pm! See ye there!" He ended the call before Launch Pad could say anything else.
Time skip to Donald's houseboat in the pool still:
Scrooge was thinking of a way to approach the topic to his stubborn nephew. (I guess it runs in the family, ey Scrooge! ;) XD)
He took a deep breath, in then out, and knocked on his nephews door. He heard foot steps, and a shout that said 'I'm coming!'
Donald opened the door smiling, then his smile faded when he saw his greatest enemy, his Uncle Scrooge! He quickly slammed the door in his Uncles face.
"Lad, I get that you don't want to talk, but at least let me do the talkin!" Scrooge shouted through the door, hearing locks turn, telling him that this is definitely NOT going to be easy.
"Please, if I don't do dis....then Beakly would hang me tail feathers on her wall! Maybe even yours if you don't listen!"Donald shuttered at the thought of Beakly, her just being mad is.....horrifying!
"Fine!" He huffed, unlocking the door, then opening it.
Scrooge waved at his nephew nervously, "So how ya been?" He asked, trying to start a conversation.
"We live in the SAME mansion!" Donald pointed out. He saw Scrooge take a step back and tense up. Donald calmed down, he could tell he was trying, so he gave him a break. "It's going.....alright. Thanks for asking....I guess." Donald folded his arms, seeming impatient. "So what do you want anyways?"
Scrooge handed Donald the newspaper, pointing at the fishing competition article. "Beakly thought it would be a good idea to send out so we could spend some time together!" He quoted with his fingers on the 'spend some time together' part, rolling his eyes in the process.
Donald looked up from reading the article. "She's crazy if she thinks we can survive a few minutes out there together, trying to get along!" Donald chuckled in a bitter cold way.
"Finally one thing we could agree on!" Scrooge threw his arms up into the air.
After a bit of silence....
"Ya know, I was thinking..." Scrooge spoke up. "Maybe, we could actually win this! We used to make a great team back then, so just maybe......we could be again! Just this once.....what do you say, lad?"
"That wasn't me! Della was the one who worked well with you....I only got in your way!" Donald answered back, looking Scrooge dead in the eyes.
"Lad you never got in me way! If you ever did, don't you think I would of left you behind, and not of brought you on adventures!" Scrooge pointed out.
Donald sighed annoyed, "Fine I'll join the fishing competition with you. Only this once! After, you leave me alone, alright!?!"
"Ye got yourself a deal!" Scrooge smiled, deep down.....he was kinda relieved to hear that Donald has agreed to go with him. But of course he would NEVER admit it out loud to ANYONE!
"Oh and we are leaving today, better get ready!" Scrooge said quickly, walking away as fast as he could. "And you are driving us to the docks, we have to meet Launch Pad there at 2pm!"
Donald's eye started to twitch, his eyes widened. "What?!?"
Time skipping to them leaving:
Scrooge was already in the car, waiting on Donald to stop saying goodbye to the kids like a thousand times already.
Donald was about to head out the door, before he of course needed to remind the boys to behave and things like that.
"And tell Dewey all of this when he gets back. And that I love him! Oh and-"
Louie cut off his over protective Uncle, and started to push him out the door. "We'll be fine, Mrs. Beakly is here after all! Have fun with your competition, good luck!"
Donald was now standing outside of the door. "But-but?"
Huey reassured him, "Like Louie said, we'll be fine! I'm here, and Mrs. Beakly is as well. Now go!" Huey tried to shew him away with his hands.
"If you say so.....bye I love you boys!" Donald started to walk away hearing shouts coming back to him saying 'We love you too!' He smiled.....
"Maybe this day won't be so bad after all." He thought.
