Avengers Arc : He returns

"Be good, alright?" Tony jokes to his ten year old nephew. "I don't need Fury telling me that my mischievous nephew caused the whole building to collapse on itself."

"I am related to you, so no promises, old man." Percy walked up to the tall, short blond haired guy. When he was standing just a foot away, Percy stopped talking. He was afraid of the man in front of him. He had no idea who he was or what he could do to the ten year old that looked small and shy. "A-Are you Mr.-Mr. Barton?"

"Just call me Clint, kid." Clint chuckled at Percy. "You must be who Nat was talking about. I swear, you're like her child. Always showing pictures and telling funny stories of you. Kinda unsettling."

Percy stayed quiet. Unknowing what to do or say to break the awkward tension he built between him and Clint. He wasn't comfortable with other people besides Tony, Pepper, and Natasha. It did take a while to warm up to them, but over the two years he's stayed with them, he knows that they aren't the type of people to do what Gabe had done. These people were on the complete opposite of the spectrum.

Tony walked up to Percy and gave him the small duffle-bag with enough clothes for a few days. "I'll be back tuesday to pick you up, ok?" He gave the small-for-his-age child a hug and left to his helicopter back to his tower where piles of work was waiting.

"Let me show you where you'll be staying and where I think you'll have the most fun." Clint led him by the shoulder into the building with multiple security guards.

Clint showed him to is room first. A simple small light grey room, a twin bed in the corner and a dresser against the wall next to it. in the corner was a door that led to the attached bathroom. Percy smiled at the simplicity of the room. Living with Tony Stark meant that his room was big, expensive, and extravagant. He appreciated the big room, for the apartment he used to live in as roughly the size of the room, but sometimes a small simple one such as this brought him peace.

After his small tour of his room he was led around the facility. He saw the labs and rooms filled with various experiments either forgotten, being used, or closed off because of quarantine. Percy was intrigued to stay in the large library they had, filled with books about many different things that he could get lost in. But unfortunately, Clint dragged him to a lab at the very bottom of the building. They had to take an elevator only to walk down stairs to get lower.

When they got to their destination. Percy stood in awe at the machines and technology that he had to use them all at least once. He speed walked to the nearest one. A transparent-touch screen glass that had equations he couldn't even begin to comprehend. At the center of the room stood a circular object. It had wires connecting to the glowing blue cube in the center encased in a contraption of metal. Across the room was a raised circular podium  surrounded by tall contraptions. Percy had no idea what it was or what it did, but he wanted to find out.

"Dr. Selvig, this is Percy, he wants to know about the tesseract and what it does. Percy, this is Dr. Erik Selvig, he's gonna teach you about the tesseract." Clint says. "If you need me, I'll be in my nest."

"Hi Percy, let's see how much you know about this stuff," Erik whisked Percy to a diagram of what the tesseract could do.

~

After a couple of hours, Percy wandered to a desk that stood alone in the room towards the tesseract in the middle. He had chosen this spot because he was able to see how it could react when he did certain small experiments with it. For example, he wondered if it could power a small microwave. He attached the necessary wires and equipment and tested it. It worked, and let the researchers and Dr. Selvig know that it was a power source of some kind.

"Talk to me Doctor," A man walked in, starling Percy from his thoughts. He wore all black and an eyepatch that wrapped around his shiny bald head.

"Director," Erik noticed Fury and made his way to him.

"Is there anything we know for certain?" Fury asked when Erik got closer.

"The tesseract is misbehaving," Erik says. Fury didn't looked amused at his answer and questioned if he was making a joke. But was surprised when he was told that the tesseract was active. Although he didn't show it, he wondered about what the foreign alien substance could do.

"So I assumed you pulled the plug?"

"One of our researchers found out she's an energy source, if we turn it off she turns it back on." Percy jumped up from behind the tall desk at the mention of his achievement. "I did it! I found out it was a power source when I used it to make popcorn!"

"Whose that?" Fury pointed to Percy. He didn't know why or how a small child got in or knew what was happening. "And who brought him?"

"I'm Percy, nephew of Tony Stark," Percy spoke once more but was quieted down by a glare from the director. With a frown, Percy stayed quiet and watched as the director and Dr. Selvig conversed about the tasserect. He honestly got bored of messing around with it after the first two hours and was waching Teen Titans on his latop for the rest of the time he was there. Looking up the the walkways to the back of the room, he saw Clint at the top. Observing and watching carefully for any trouble. With a small wave in Clints direction, he turned his attention back to the director.

"Where's agent Barton?" Fury asked clearly wanting to move away from the topic of the tasseract.

"The Hawk? up in his nest as usual," Erik continued his work. "He's the one that brought Percy here."

When Clint came down he told Fury about how nothing's been happening with it. He explains that it's like a doorway. And how doors open from both sides. While they talked , Percy walked up to the tasseract and looked at it close up. He saw the neon light blue swirl and move inside and abit outside of the dark blue cube. It was captivating. He could stare at it for hours and watch it move, and he'd never get bored. Curiously, he tried to touch it. Wondering what would happen if he did, but as his hand got closer his fingers started to turn blue. An icey blue that matched the winters and snow.

Pulling his hand back quickly. He watched scaredly as the color of his skin turned back to its normal color. Walking quickly he hid behind his desk and tried to forget what happened, but everytime he looked at his hand, he remebered the abnormal color his hand was.

As Percy's mind drifted off of what it could mean, he became oblivious to the Doctor's worried expression when the saw the data on the machine. He saw that the levels of the usual stability were thrown off. In his mind, he repeated 'oh shit, oh shit' over and over as he read the data. Something was happening, but what it was, he doesn't know. The tesseract started to work. It glowed and sparked, causing the metal around it to be electrocuted. The tesseract shook and rattled the ground. Everyone dropped to the ground as it emitted a ray of electric blue towards the podium at the end of the room. Scientist who have been working here since it was brought there starred as it created what seemed to be a portal.

Percy dropped behind his desk, only peeking out when the glowing stopped and the remains of the portal matrializes to the kneeled person on the podium.

When he looked over, there was the familiar dark green and gold robes. Slicked back, jet black hair that he retained from the genetic combining. In his hand was a scepter. A sharp and pointed tip that looked deadly with a glowing blue gem in the cross section of it. He stood up, face still down and hidden to all from view, except Percy. Percy saw every feature of the man. The pointy nose and mishchevious grin. It belongs to no one other than his father. Loki.

He covered his mouth with his hand as he tried not to cry. He hasn't seen him since he left when he was six. Percy tried to get up and look over the desk to see him better when he saw the cautious expressions from the others. He didn't understand why they were looking at loki like that, his father was a good man. His mother told him that he'd do crazy things for the benefit of them and to put his mischevious and enterting skills to work. Percy looked to his father again and saw that the grin he adorned was more of an evil snicker. His eyes that were green like Percy's in pictures, are now a light blue. Percy decided to hide behind his desk a little bit more to watch what his father does.

"Sir," Fury spoke first in the silence. "Can you please put down the spear?" Loki looked to the spear in his hand, examined it for a bit before firing at them. A bright blue lighting-like erupted  from the spear as it aimed to Fury and Clint. Percy ducked down under the desk. His eyes widen in shock trying to understand why his father was attacking people and why his eyes were blue.

He lunged at one of the guards who was shooting at him. Bullets ricocheting of his armour that protected him. He stabbed the guard with the spear and, with precise aim, threw daggers at two others. Hitting them perfectly in their throats. Charging another blast, he aimed at one of the scientist close to where Percy was, sending her flying backwards to one of the desks. Kicking a guard out of the way, he looked at the destruction he caused. The faintest remnants of a smirk on his lips.

Clint got up from his spot on the ground making his attack on Loki. His arm caught in the god's grip in a painful way, he winced as Loki twisted his arm, rendering him unable to break free. Loki sized Clint up and down, before speaking. "You have a heart." He touched the spear tip to his chest. Eyes becoming black then a light blue, Clint stopped struggling. Loki smirked at him and removed the spear and walked to do the same to other people in the room.

While he was doing that, Fury removed the tesseract out of the machine and placed it in a case. He began to leave before getting stopped by Loki. "Please don't do that."

Loki looked to Fury. "I still need that."

"This doesn't have to get any messier," Fury spoke to him.

"I've come to far for anything else." Percy, still under the table, felt hurt. Those words told him that he wasn't here for Percy. HE didn't want him, only to tesseract in Fury's hands. Percy quietly crawled out from under the desk and made his way to where Fury was, hoping to leave the room before his father did anything dangerous. "I am Loki, of Asgard, and I am burdened with glorious purpose. "

Standing from where he was, Selvig stood. "Loki, brother of Thor."

"An ant has no quarrel with a boot," He said to Selvig.

"You plan to step on us?" Asked Fury.

"I come with glad tidings, of a world made free."

"free from what?"

"freedom. Freedom is life's great lie; once you accept that in your heart..." Loki turned around and pressed the spear to Dr. Selvig's chest like he did to Clint. His eyes coming black then blue, signaling that was under Loki's control. "You will know peace."

Clint looked at the ceiling where the portal was. A weird moving, blue mass that was slowly coming down. He knew that they had to leave before it touched the ground. "Sir, Director Fury is staling, this place is about to blow. Dropping a hundred feet of rock on us. He means to bury us."

"Like the pharaohs of old," Fury smirked, not knowing of the ten year old who was behind him hiding. Percy was trying to see his father. Hoping that if he saw him, he's stop.

Dr. Selvig looked at the monitors on a desk, reading the data that showed the high possibility of death from the unstable cloud above them. "He's right. The portal is collapsing in on itself. We've got maybe two minutes before this goes critical."Clint quickly shoots Fury, sending him back and crashing into Percy. Loki picks up the case and walks off with the small mind-controlled followers he has.

Groaning in pain, Percy tries to push Fury off of him. Luckily he gets up. Removing the bullet from his abdomen, he calls for help and quickly leads Percy out of the room. "Get the tesseract. Shut it down." Fury grabs Percy's wrist and runs up the stairs. Percy, scared for his life, father, and the man helping him, takes control and runs faster up the stairs with Fury behind him. Percy ran through the halls, getting out of the way of security, scientist, and agents who were retrieving all the equipment they could.

Fury told Percy directions, guiding the small boy where to go. He yelled to the people around him to hurry, not wanting any of them to die. Exiting the building, limping and sweaty, he picked up Percy and ran to the helicopter that was waiting for him. A loud bang erupted from the ground, ringing thorough Percy's ears as he starred in horror and amazement. The ground far beneath him rippled. Causing the building and cars that were still down there to jump.

Fury opened the doors to he helicopter, trying to shoot at the car below them. Percy quickly buckled his seat belt, not wanting to fall out-because knowing him, he probably would.

Loki charged his spear and sent another blast, causing the helicopter to set fire and spin crashing to the ground. He chuckled driving off as Fury grabbed onto Percy, shielding him from the impact of the fall, he jumped out. Percy watched almost unconscious from the ground as his father drove off, eyes closing he faintly heard Fury speak into the walkie-talkies. " We are at war." He closed his eyes, knowing nothing until he woke again.

A/N
I am sooo sorry this took so long to publish! I have been super busy with AP testing and job interviews and  color guard experience camps, but I hope that a long chapter can be some sort of apology.

This chapter is dedicated to all of those who have politely asked for an update, I hope this was worth the long wait.
