Chapter 40 - Our Home
Here is a reminder of what Raziel's tattoo looks like ^^
Kai's POV
"You two seem much happier," I say as I enter the kitchen.
Declan smiles and nods while Lance giggles and says, "Declan and I talked about everything. We're both starting to come to terms with me leaving."
"But we agreed it wasn't an ending," Declan adds and Lance grins and blows Declan a kiss which immediately has him cooing at how cute Lance is being.
Raziel filled me in on what happened at Declan's House. I told him he didn't have to finish telling me about what happened with Yael because he was really struggling to get the words out, but he insisted, and I tried my best to comfort him throughout the entire thing. He was a mess, and it didn't help that his fever spiked again.
He told me that earlier last night with Declan was the first time he ever revisited those memories, and I was the first person he'd ever shared so many details with. I couldn't imagine how heartbreaking it must have been for him to follow an order like that and then to share that memory after so long. But my angel was brave, and I was proud of him for the way he helped Declan and the way he finally let himself grieve.
"Breakfast for my favourite brother." Declan smiles and places an egg salad sandwich and some orange juice in front of me.
"I'm your only brother."
He grins. "That's why you're my favourite."
I giggle and roll my eyes before taking a bite of my sandwich.
"What is Raziel going to do with the book?" Lance asks before biting into his semi-transparent version of a sandwich.
I finish chewing the bite in my mouth before replying. "It's in my father's safe. I changed the combination so only Raziel and I know it, but that's a temporary solution. Long term, no idea."
They nod and we shift the conversation to school. I end up smiling non-stop throughout breakfast because Lance and Declan are being so cute. They are both in high spirits and they keep glancing at each other when they think the other one isn't watching, and when their gazes do meet, they giggle and wink or make kissy faces.
Once we're finished, Declan gets ready for school while I wash up and chat with Lance. After they leave the house, I go upstairs and slip under the covers to cuddle with Raziel. He immediately gravitates towards my warmth and buries his face in my neck before falling back into a deep sleep.
I touch his neck and forehead finding them both still warmer than they should be but he isn't burning up like he was last night. I grab my phone from my nightstand, deciding to scroll through social media until Raziel wakes up.
"Good morning," a groggy Raziel mumbles a few hours later, and I toss my phone to the side so I can focus on him.
"Good afternoon," I whisper, pressing a kiss to the top of his head.
Raziel's head snaps up. "What! We're late for school!"
I cling to him as he tries to get out of bed. "We're not going today. I have all my classes with Milan today and she agreed to give me her notes."
"School is important. You can't miss it."
"Okay, Daddy," I say, rolling my eyes and Raziel frowns.
"I'm serious! You shouldn't be missing school."
I giggle and place a tender kiss on his lips. "I know, but you had a really long, emotionally and physically exhausting day yesterday. I wanted you to get some much needed rest, and I also wanted to comfort you and spend time with you."
I press kisses all over his face as I'm talking so that by the time I'm finished, he's smiling even though I know he's still a little upset. "I promise not to make a habit of skipping school."
Raziel narrows his eyes. "I'm holding you to that." I giggle and peck his lips and his frown dissolves into a smile. "Thank you. It's a very kind gesture. I'm feeling a lot better."
I touch his forehead and smile when he no longer seems to have a temperature. "My super sexy angel boyfriend is all better now."
"Thanks to his little light," he replies, pressing a kiss to my nose. "You are such a tiny person but you have such a bright light within you. It touches everything and everyone around you, making them all better versions of themselves. It makes me feel like no matter how far away I am from you, your light will always guide me home because now, wherever you are is my home. I love you, Kai, and you don't-"
"I love you too, Raziel! I feel like you're my light too. You came into my life when it was at its darkest and you brightened it up. You've shown me love, comforted me, defended me and listened to me talk about even the dumbest things. I never want to imagine my life without you."
"And you'll never have to," he says as a radiant smile lights up his face.
My stomach feels like it's doing somersaults, my skin is on fire where his hand drapes around my waist, and I can't seem to stop smiling. I love him so so so much.
Raziel places gentle kisses all over my face, grinning the entire time and repeating that he loves me over and over again. His confession is music to my ears and makes me giddy with happiness.
"I think I should feed my angel, then we can get back to this?" I murmur, and Raziel hums a response.
I decide to order food since I don't feel like cooking, and while we eat, I check in with Raziel about how he is doing mentally given everything he went through last night. He assures me that he's alright and promises to talk to me if that changes.
"Raz?" I pause the movie that we started watching after lunch, and Raziel's head which is resting on my shoulder tilts towards me. "When you get your wings back, do you have to live in Heaven? Isn't being the head warrior a full-time job?"
"I told you home is where you are, and since your life is on earth, earth is my home, our home. Nothing will change that, and if at any point you want to move to Heaven, we can do that too. If I do get to resume my job, it won't be difficult to get to and from Heaven, and if you need me you can easily contact me," he releases a nervous laugh, "I have one other thing I need to tell you."
He smooths my furrowed brows with a kiss and moves to sit in front of me on the bed. A long sigh escapes him before he tugs his shirt over his head and off in one swift motion.
My teeth sink into my bottom lip as I suppress a moan. Like a parched man in a desert seeing an ice-cold glass of water, I ogle my man, soaking in his perfect body. My eyes run from the waistband of his light grey sweatpants up to the cutest little hole that is his navel. From there, they travel further north, taking in every dip and curve of his flawless, defined, golden brown abs.
My eyes widen and I gasp when I notice a large tattoo of my name on his left pec. The K is a gorgeous interwoven vine with both thick and thin strokes that twirls and curves in different directions. The a and i are sleek and simpler, complimenting the fancy K and making for the most majestic tattoo I'd ever seen.
Before I realise what I'm doing, my hand is touching his chest. My fingertips brush against the lines of the tattoo as I admire the beautiful work of art. Save for Raziel's increased breathing, he stays perfectly still, which encourages me to explore as I would like. I take up his silent invitation, allowing both of my hands to wander over his chest.
I lean closer, close enough that my breath fans across his skin. My tongue flicks out and I trace the outline of the tattoo before moving on to his abs. The low moans my angel is emitting caress my ears. His breathing quickens and a loud groan escapes him when I bite his nipple. I can't help the soft moan that spills from my mouth in response.
My mouth trails up his neck, leaving wet spots and tiny marks as I go. Noticing the blissful smile on his face, I giggle before crashing my lips into his. Raziel pulls me onto his lap, and I release a sigh of content when his tongue slips into my mouth.
Kissing him always fills me with such happiness. Even his freshly baked cookie smell brings me warmth and joy. Everything about him is perfect, from his sometimes snarky attitude and his sexy body to the way he touches me and pays attention to everything I say.
"Are you not curious about the tattoo?" Raziel asks, trying to get back the breath which I stole from him.
"You got it because you love me." I giggle before my eyebrows knit together. "Is the tattoo the reason why you never take your shirt off?"
He has seen me shirtless before and placed kisses and tiny bite marks all over my chest, but whenever I tried to reciprocate he always distracted me.
Raziel grins and nods. "And yes, while I do have the tattoo because I love you, there is also a deeper meaning behind it. I have a bond with you, it's still incomplete, but it's already binding for me."
I squeal and press multiple kisses to his lips. This is perfect! This means that he could be mine forever! "Tell me everything about it! What changes happen? Is it for life?"
A deep laugh escapes Raziel and he places a chaste kiss on my lips. "For you, once the bond is complete, your life span will be linked to mine so you will age for a few more years, then stop aging somewhere between the ages of twenty-one and twenty-five. It is for life, though if you want, you can," he frowns and glances away before meeting my gaze once again, "ask to end our bond."
I shake my head rapidly. There is no way I'm breaking our bond. My reaction brings a smile to his face, and his nervous energy seems to disappear.
"You should still know. In that case you will continue aging at the age where you stopped aging when we bonded.
"Remember how we were talking about you contacting me if you needed?" I nod and Raziel continues. "If I touch my tattoo, it allows me to hear you no matter how far away you are from me. It also lets me transport myself to you instantly."
My eyes widen and Raziel releases a soft laugh and pecks my lips. "My seal, a special mark only worn by me, will appear on your left pec after the bond is complete, and if you place your hand over it, you will be able to have a conversation with me in your head, no matter how far apart we are."
"That's so cute! What else?"
"If you get sick so do I, but I won't be as sick as you are. If I'm upset or hurt, you will know it but it won't physically hurt you and the same happens for me if you're upset or hurt. If I die, which is highly unlikely!" He blurts out when he sees the look of horror on my face at the mention of him dying. "In that case, you would continue aging and live a normal human life, but if you die, within a matter of hours, I'll die too."
"No more death talk," I say with a pout.
Raziel nods before tightening his grip around my waist and gluing his lips to mine. Before he can deepen the kiss, I pull away. "You said the bond is incomplete, how do I complete it?"
"The first stage is a kiss, the second stage is an emotional connection and the last stage is a physical connection."
"Well what are we waiting for," I say, batting my eyelashes and biting my bottom lip before giggling and crashing my lips into his. A guttural moan and his hands grabbing my butt is all the encouragement I need before the rest of our clothes are flying off.
