♥Chapter 11- Song for a special girl ♥

Rilee's POV

"Rilee, just give him a chance. Please" Liiza pleads. She's lying on her stomach, on her bed, looking up from her phone.

"Why should I?" I question, spinning around on her desk chair.

Liiza invited me over for lunch and Andree's and since I came, she has been trying to sweet talk me into meeting up with Jonah.

I guess I do want to talk to him again. I don't know, I kind of thought it was the beginning of a friendship.

I guess I don't wanna get hurt.

Maybe I over reacted. But, we were "dating", fake or not, and he hurt my feelings. Flirting with other girls? Was I not enough?

"It's not like we're really in a relationship", I didn't really understand the feeling inside me.

"I think he wants to make it up to you." Liiza replies, pulling herself up.

I think for a moment before sighing in defeat. "Fine. But under one condition."

She nods in response.

"I get to leave if he gets annoying." I declare.

Liiza giggles, nodding. "You'd get to leave straight away!" She grabs an eyeshadow pallet from her vanity and turns to me.

"Let's start with your makeup. I want to make you look hot."

•••

"Done!" Liiza exclaims, stepping back and examining her handy work.

She sits the curling iron done on the dresser after switching it off. "Do you like your makeup?"

It's sort of that no-makeup makeup look. Neutral tones. It's pretty. Really pretty. "Thank you so much."

"What are friends for?" Liiza grins. "Now get in the dress!l

She hands me a maroon, formal dress. It's gorgeous.

I quickly turn around, and slip into the dress. Liiza and I are similar sizes, so it should fit. I zip up the back and turn to face her.

I clear my throat and Liiza lifts her eyes from her phone screen.

"Oh my god! Riles you look so beautiful! Jonah won't be able to take his eyes off you!"

I giggle, selecting a black clutch from her collection.

Liiza jumps up from the bed "It's time! Can't keep the poor guy waiting."

I slide into a pair of natural heels and we make our way downstairs, where we bump into Cassandra.

"Wow, Rilee you look beautiful! Where are you girls heading off too?" She smiles gently.

"Thank you, Cassandra." I blush softly, averting my gaze to my feet.

"Rilee's going to B&W." Liiza finally says, and I smile at her gratefully.

"Oh! I'll tell the driver to drop you off." Cassandra pulls out her phone.

"You don't have to-" I start.

"It's no worry. Besides, any friend of Liiza is a friend of mine:"" She waves her hand.

"But-"

"The driver is waiting. Off you go!" Cassandra interrupts.

Liiza grabs on to my hand, leading me away. "Thanks, Cass." She finishes as we walk to the door. "I want details after you're back." Liiza closes the door in my face.

"Bye." I mutter, climbing into the car in the driveway.

•••

After the short drive, I lift myself out of the car, taking a deep breath. I'm really freaking nervous.

My heels click against the gravel of the car park as I walk towards the restaurant. The metal door is cold on my hands as I push them open.

The place is buzzing. I can't see Jonah at any table close.

"Are you with Jonah?" A waitress asks.

Huh?

"Yeah..." I reply quizzically.

"Right this way."

I follow the waitress to a table, empty.

"He'll be right here." The waitress hands me a menu, placing one on the opposite plate and leaves.

Suddenly, an announcement comes from the microphone, where the restaurant usually have live entertainment.

"This song is for a special girl." His voice is deep and steady. I know that voice. I spin around in my chair to see Jonah, perched on a stool with his guitar on the small stage, looking right over at me.

I have butterflies in my stomach.

The chattering in the restaurant starts to quite down a little as the other customers turn to listen.

Jonah starts playing the chords on his acoustic guitar, his eyes locked with mine.

🎶You used to paint me pictures.
All alone, we would sit by the lake.

You never wasted a moment,
Telling me, just what you think.

Then all things changed,
You're never really what you claimed.

He pauses, starting to sing the chorus.

And how can you stand to fake it?
When you know it's my heart you're breaking?

You left me that day,
I needed to go.

And how can you stand to change it?
When you know it's my soul, you wrecked it ?

I'm leaving you now,
Alone I'm gone.

I said I would,
I meant it.🎶

The whole time, he was looking at me, his eyes not leaving mine.

Watching him sing made my heart melt. I feel like running up to him and hugging him so tightly.

Do I....like him? In that way?

"I really, really like you Rilee Mikes." Jonah says through the mic. "Do you forgive me for being such an idiot?" A few lone customers of the restaurant whoop and clap.

I gave a nod as my answer and I stand up from my chair.

Jonah leaves his guitar leaning against his chair and jogs over to me. "I'm really, really sorry, Rilee. I was such a dickhead."

I bite my lip, trying not to lose myself in his eyes. "It's okay Jonah. I know we're not actually dating. I was just-" I pause, and his dark brown eyes, staring a me. "I think I was just jealous. I'm sorry for being annoying, Jonah.

He smiles, shaking his head. "You weren't being annoying. And, Rilee, if you were, it was completely and utterly valid. I was a jerk" He bites his lip,'offering his hand out to mine. "Will you give me the honor of a dance?"

I giggle and just nod as he drags me up to the stage as "Dark Waltz" by Hayley Westenra starts to play.

I wrap my arms around his neck, as we sway to the beat of the song. His forehead is nearly touching mine. I can feel his breath of my lips.

Finally, he says it. "Can I kiss you?" It's barely a whisper as I drearily look up at Jonah through my eyelashes.

It seems like a dream as our lips collide.
