New People But Same Old Confusion
There is not much to say apart from the title says everything I could tell you.
But the updates will maybe be a bit slower now, as you probably noticed, and only single updates because I had no time to write so many chapters ahead like before because I had job interviews and stuff like this.

Chatting lively, Harry was sitting in a small café with Louis, Sean and Bailey. A few weeks ago at the beginning of his first Uni year he would have never thought this combination would be possible. But here they were now, talking like nothing ever happened and this was normal. Louis and Sean were cracking jokes and Harry almost forgot that during their whole school time they never got along. Bailey was fitting in quite alright and the boys and of course, Aria and Àmber, had loved her from the first second. Harry even thought Sean might have a crush on her, but who was he to know that?!
"No, really. Phil talked on and on about this. It was hilarious, right Hazza?" told Bailey them of their last class.
"Damn hilarious. When he starts talking about something he loves he is lost in less than a second and doesn't come out of his bubble for the rest of the lesson. It's an amusing sight" chuckled Harry at the memory.
"At least, he is passionate about his job. My professor is so mean and snaps at everyone for nothing. He chose the wrong job, I'm telling you" threw Sean in with wild hand-movements.
"Maybe he is just trying to prepare you for your future job. Management people are not nice. Get used to it" pointed Bailey out cheekily.
"I hate you, Bay. Harold, why did you bring her into our circle? Wasn't Tommo mocking me enough? Now there are two of them" wailed Sean dramatically.
"Weren't you the one who said you'd like to see her again when you first met her?" cocked Harry an eyebrow at her.
"I don't recall that" grumbled Sean defeated and glared at all three of them for laughing like idiots.
"Uni turned Harry into a cheeky lad, O'Kelly. You should have noticed that. Don't test him" noted Louis amusedly.
"I'd rather say that's years and years of your influence, Mister Sass King" shot Sean back. Years ago, Sean would have regretted that answer but now Louis was only laughing.
"I'm fabulouis. How could you expect anything else?" picked Louis sassily on his nails.
That nickname threw Harry back into a different time in his mind. A time of them fake-dating. He remembered how someone had called them mature and sexual Harry and Fabulouis, the dream team. A power couple. Harry had no idea why he was thinking about this now but every now and then something reminded him of how it was before they had their falling out. Even though they were good now it wasn't the same and they were not best friends again. No, Zayn was obviously Louis' best friend and Niall was Harry's. It felt like there was still something but Harry couldn't say what it was.
"Guys, as much as I love your marriage banter, we should get going. The barristers are watching us creepily" interrupted Bailey Sean and Louis' playful bickering.
"We're not married" huffed Louis cutely.
"No, we're divorced since last week" clarified Sean.
"Ah, that's why you're like this. Got it. Let's go" shook Bailey her head at them, ignoring their disbelieving faces, and stood up with Harry.
The four of them left the café and strolled through the city for a bit. Bailey and Harry bought the new book they needed and Louis' new music sheets for his course. When they were close to Louis and Harry's streets, a blonde very tall guy came walking over to them. Harry looked confusedly at him but Louis seemed to know him.
"Hey, Tommo. What a coincidence to meet you here" beamed the boy at Louis brightly.
"Hi, Luke. On your way to get those music sheets?" guessed Louis with a smile on his face.
"You got it. I was held back by Liron and Zayn but now I really have to buy them" let Luke him know. And yeah, Harry almost forgot that Louis and Liron were in the same course most of the time and the band was still a thing.
"I just did that. Oh by the way, meet Bailey and Harry" pointed Louis at the two of them. That probably meant this Luke guy already knew Sean.
"Hi" waved Harry shortly at him.
"Good to finally meet you. Louis told me a lot about you" waved Luke at Bailey and Harry.
"I darkly remember that he mentioned you as well. My memory is a mess though" chuckled Bailey at her own words and Sean joined her laughter.
"Aw, you talked about me" cooed Luke exaggeratedly.
"Don't make me regret it" grinned Louis up at Luke.
That answer made Harry frown deeply. Louis didn't really sass him and just went along with it. That was new. That normally only happened with Zayn or himself. Harry watched them alerted and noticed a lot of stolen glances and flirty looks between them, especially from Luke. He was totally into Louis and Louis wasn't blocking it.
"You're Friday at the bar again?" wanted Luke to know interested.
"Yeah, just like Liam and Niall. By now, I should be concerned about their alcohol consume" confirmed Louis with a joke.
"Maybe about mine, too. I will be there and plan on distracting you" let Luke him know cockily.
"Good luck with that" laughed Louis heartfelt.
"It's on, Tommo" and with that Luke went his way.
"He is so into you" smirked Sean nastily at Louis.
"Shut up".
That wasn't a denial of reciprocated feelings. That wasn't a clear renunciation. With that light red colour on Louis' cheek that sounded more like a confirmation. Was Louis also into Luke? Were they dating and he hasn't told him yet? The thought made Harry uneasy. Seeing them together was strange and Harry didn't like it. He just couldn't say why.
On the next day, Harry was staring out the window of the library of the University of Domumley. He had come here to read and distract his thoughts but instead he was lost in them. He should be reading his coursebook but he was reading AnotherTypical High School Story by Olivia Stewart. For some reason, this book brought him back in time and the main characters reminded him of himself and Louis. Just that Harley and Loucas had found a way to work through their issues, somehow. It didn't feel like Harry and Louis had found that way yet. They were back to being friendly and meeting and partying a lot with their friends like the group has never been broken, but they never did anything alone. It was more likely that Harry could ask Zayn to meet up alone than Louis and that shouldn't be possible.
Harry shook those thoughts away and decided to lend another book. Funnily enough, they had a lot of Olivia Stewart's books here and Harry was loving it. He put his book in his bag and walked over to the bookshelf where he knew her books were. He read over the titles and decided on Tied To My Destiny and Second Chances. Those sounded about right. Soulmates and new chances for people, who fucked up big time. Harry thought that was a good choice.
Because he wasn't looking where he as going Harry bumped into someone and sent them flying to the floor. "Ouch".
"I'm sorry. Oh God, I'm so sorry. Are you hurt?" panicked Harry immediately.
"No need to panic, Harry. I'm good" assured the boy him. Harry recognised him from his course. His name was Josh.
"I'm still sorry" insisted Harry stubbornly.
"Fine. I accept your apology. Better?" stood Josh back up and dusted off his knees.
"Yes, a lot" smiled Harry satisfied.
"Maybe you should take me out for a coffee to repay me. That fall hurt a lot" grinned Josh up at him with a cheeky grin.
"Didn't you say you're good?" raised Harry an eyebrow at him in amusement.
"But that's only cause you're here. As soon as you're gone the pain will come back".
And he knew it. Harry had known for a few weeks now that Josh was trying to hit on him but he had blocked it ever since. Josh was a nice guy and they shared the same interests and got along quite well but for some reason, Harry wasn't interested yet. He had always ignored the flirt attempts but right now he was wondering why. What was so wrong about going out with Josh? Harry had no contact with Jake anymore and there was no one else he was interested in. So, why not?
"Here you are. I thought we would meet at the entrance" tore Liam's voice him out of this thoughts.
"Sorry, but I was still busy" nodded Harry with his head at Josh, who offered Liam a polite smile.
"Oh, hi. Sorry, didn't see you. And I'm even more sorry but Zayn and Louis are waiting. Unless you bail on us now" eyed Liam them curiously.
"No, I'm coming now. Bye, Josh. See you in class" said Harry goodbye to Josh.
"And you owe me that coffee" reminded Josh him.
"I won't forget it" called Harry over to him before leaving the library with Liam.
"Is that the guy Niall had told me about? The one hitting on you?" asked Liam interested.
"Yeah, that's him" answered Harry hesitantly, still not sure if Liam was actually over him hurting Louis.
"He seems nice. What's stopping you?" wanted Liam to know and didn't sound like he disapproved the possibility of Harry dating again.
"I'm not sure" mumbled Harry insecurely.
"Not sure what's stopping you or not sure what you feel for him?" checked Liam understandingly.
"Both, actually. I really need to be sure this time" admitted Harry and then cringed at his own words. Of course, he had to say something like this.
"I understand. Give it time. At one point, you will know for sure. And if you're not into him that's not the end of the world. Just let him down gently and look for someone else" encouraged Liam him softly.
"Thanks, Li. I needed to hear that" smiled Harry thankfully at his friend.
"What are friends for?".
"Friends are supposed to buy you food. Every day" piped Niall in, who crossed their way.
"I expected you to come later or not at all" put Liam an arm around him. "And you get food when we're there".
"I wasn't sure if I can make it but now I'm here. Sean won't come though. He has plans" informed Niall them.
"With Bailey?" wondered Harry overwhelmed.
"No idea. Maybe. You also think he likes her? Because I do" hooked Niall as they walked into the café.
"Well, I think so. But how should I know that when I can't even figure out my own feelings? Sean is the one who should know that" replied Harry way too serious.
"That was unexpected" whistled Niall in shock.
"What? That we're here before you? Definitely not" drew Zayn the attention on him. Louis was sitting next to him at a table in the back.
"Because you have no life, Mister Artist" walked Niall over to him to give him a High Five.
"I can't even remember what you study in the first place. How did you manage to get in anyway?" shot Zayn back sassily.
"I'm good at getting in somewhere" countered Niall dirtily.
"Ew, spare me the details" grimaced Louis weirdly.
"Always a joy to follow your conversations, Ziall" rolled Liam his eyes at them.
"Sit your lame ass down, Lima Bean" ordered Niall him playfully.
"Who is the one hitting the clubs? You or me?" sat Liam down together with Harry next to Niall.
"Both of us, duh. We're a dream team" sing-songed Niall.
"Who would have thought that?!" chuckled Louis cutely.
"Not me, that's for sure. Never expected you to party this much, Lima Bean" joined Harry the conversation.
"I'm a new me" was the only explanation they got from him.
"Where are A and Ari, by the way?" asked Zayn confused.
"Held back. Can't make it today. Too much work to do" informed Liam him shortly.
"Oh, that's shit" pouted Louis sadly.
"Missing A this much, huh?" nudged Zayn his side.
"Yes, if you wanna know. I do miss her a lot" pouted Louis even more now.
"Stop being cute all the time. When you look like this you're irresistible" tried Zayn to look away but failed.
"Luke seems to share your problem, Z" wiggled Liam his eyebrows at them.
"Can you blame him? He sees that every day" circled Zayn Louis' cute face.
"That poor boy had no chance" sighed Liam dramatically.
"Can you stop it? Luke and I are just friends" clarified Louis and Harry felt good hearing that.
"Let's see for how long. Are you not the tiniest bit attracted to him?" questioned Liam curiously.
"I mean, he is very handsome and seems to be into me but I don't know. We just started Uni. Isn't there an unwritten rule to not date in your first year?" came Louis off as hella insecure to Harry. And did a rule like this really exist?
"Since when do you care about rules? Especially unwritten ones. This sounds like lame excuses to me. Why don't you give him a chance?" wondered Liam sceptically.
"I can't really answer that because I don't know. He is kinda cute, don't you think?" bit Louis down on his bottom lip and Harry couldn't stop watching this action.
"A real cutie and really fit and did you see those eyes? I don't understand you. How can you resist him?" looked Zayn at him in disbelief.
"You want him instead?" grinned Louis at his best friend.
"Nope. He's yours" shook Zayn his head way too fast.
"Not mine" corrected Louis him.
"Yet".
"You're unbelievable" sighed Louis out and slammed his head on the table.
"Everything alright?" whispered Niall into Harry's ear, taking him by surprise.
"Yeah, why you're asking?" cleared Harry his throat.
"You seemed off to me and looked kinda sad. You sure you're okay?" eyed Niall him sceptically. Harry only nodded, hoping to convince him with his forced smile.
"I don't buy that smile, Mister. We talk about this when we're done here" told Niall him and that was an order.
Harry let out a heavy sigh and tried to follow the trio's conversation for a while. They switched topics in mere seconds and had a very good time together. Harry almost forgot that Niall still wanted to talk but remembered it when Niall came home with him wordlessly and they ended up on Harry's bed in his room, just looking at each other.
"So, you're gonna tell me what's wrong?" broke Niall the silence.
"That's the problem. I don't know that myself" sighed Harry out. He seemed to do that a lot lately.
"To me it looked like the talk about Luke and Louis didn't sit right with you. Do you have a problem with Luke or something?" tilted Niall his head aside, desperately trying to get some answers out of Harry.
"No, he seems alright. I um ..." trailed Harry off because he didn't even know himself what he wanted to say.
"Harry, please be honest with me. Do you like Louis?" asked Niall a question Harry had never thought to ever hear again.
"What? No, of course not. We're barely friends. I'm not crushing on Louis" denied Harry everything quickly.
"To me it seems like you do. It seems like you're jealous of Luke and afraid Louis might actually like him back" told Niall him what he thought.
"I'm not jealous of Luke and stop putting that in my head. I thought once that I was jealous because I might like Louis, remember? Of Zayn and Sam but I wasn't. You put that in my head because you were sure I like Louis, but I didn't. I don't need that again" pushed Harry everything away. There was no way he was into Louis.
"Don't get angry but I still think you were jealous of Zayn and Sam and now of Luke because you liked Louis the whole time. Back then and now" admitted Niall to him and looked really conflicted. "Before you say anything, I know what Louis said and I also think he was right. You definitely liked the idea of having a boyfriend and it didn't matter who it was and you started realising you liked Louis for the wrong reasons and way too late at the wrong time, but that doesn't mean those feelings weren't there. Your expectations and actions from before stopped the two of you from having a chance, not your feelings. Maybe I shouldn't tell you this but that's why Sean broke up with you all these years ago. Because he thought you'd end up with Louis anyway".
"Wait, really? I thought it was because of Jake" interrupted Harry him perplexed.
"It was because of Jake, too. I mean, you were crushing on him while being with Sean. You tried but Sean never had a chance and he knew that. But he always thought you and Louis are meant to be and you would be together one day. That's why he never hated Louis for treating him like he did. He knew he was jealous and understood that. He was a pro-Larry all along and still hopes you get your happy ending someday. Same goes for me and I still think it's possible but I'm not sure when. Without Jake in the picture, you'd probably be together by now but life took a different path. Harry, why can't you see that? You have been jealous of Zayn for years and of Sam as much as of Luke now because he has a chance to be with Louis. Maybe when you thought you liked him and he rejected you something in your mind made you believe it was never real but it was, just wrong timing. You needed to figure yourself out first and be ready for true feelings and worthy of Louis' forgiveness and a second chance, as bad as that sounds" revealed Niall to him.
That was a lot to take in. He had pushed every thought of Louis and him being a thing in this world as far away from him as possible after everything that has happened between them. Louis deserved more than him even if he liked him for real. He had treated Louis like shit and didn't deserve a second chance if he wanted one. But was Niall actually right? Has Harry been jealous of Zayn without realising it for so long and was still jealous of him and of Luke now? Was that possible? Harry couldn't find the answers to those questions in his head.
"Harry, do you like Louis as more than a friend?" asked Niall softly.
Harry looked confusedly at his best friend and rubbed his hands over hisface. "I don't know, Niall. I have no fucking idea what I feel and I'm not gonna make the same mistake again. Louis deserves to be happy. Without me and my mess of confused feelings".
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Does Harry like Louis or is he just confused? Is Louis over him and actually likes Luke? What about Josh?
