I have this headcanon that Qrow struggled with being in a serious relationship at first. He had only ever had one night stands, he had only recently given up drinking, and he was only beginning to explore his sexuality. Dating Clover was both something we was terrified of and really wanted. He didn't want to be a disappointment. So, I see him as the Anne (Zendaya's character) of the ship.

Clover, on the other hand, had no problems or worries going into this relationship. He loved Qrow and that was what mattered. He didn't have all the worries that Qrow had, and wanted Qrow to understand that. So, I see him as the Phillip (Zac Efron's character) in this relationship. 

If you watched the movie, you know that in the end, they learn to work together past all the hardships and worries. And I think that is what Qrow and Clover would do. So, that is why I see them in this song.
