I would like to share my experience of being sexually assaulted in both physical and in online.
Back when I was 9 years old, I had been touched on my private area while riding a public vehicle.I was just a kid then and didnt really know what to do. I just shrugged it off as a hand of a man caress my legs. I was wearing a skirt then. I just reacted when he set his hands on my private area.
I quickly got off the vehicle and ran home after that. After a few years passed (this happened at Nov. 2017) I was again, assaulted, but not with a creepy pedo, but teenage boys, a bit older than me (I was 12 at that time and im guessing they were 14-15).
I had been walking to the nearest bus stop and I had passed a McDonald on the way. And about three teen boys were there. I did everything I can to not get noticed (since it was a time where there are only few people around) but unfortunately, as i was passing the second one, the first one cat whistled directly at me, and the second one slapped my butt. The third one laughed and started caressing my hair. I was about to cry when I felt hands on my back and legs until someone actually pulled me away.
It was a nurse (considering she was wearing a nurse outfit) and she pulled me away, dragging me inside a mall. She hugged me and I thanked her. She walked me towards the bus stop and waited for me to get on a vehicle before leaving.
My next experience is sexual assault online.
I accepted a friend request from a man that looked really nice. He chatted with me saying he was one of my dad's workers. We chatted until it got pretty weird. He started asking me to do stuffs and i just lied about doing it.
The weirdest one he asked me to do is give him a picture of me sitting wearing short shorts with my legs spread open, and receiving that message, I blocked him and unfriended him.
I also got chats from men in India saying they would like me to live with them in India. I refused and block it all.
That was my experiences.
Team Say No To Abuse:
This is some of the hard stuff girls, teens, women go through in their life. Especially school/college/working sector. It's sad but the harsh reality. Please keep pepper spray with you all the time and don't hesitate to use it. Scream bloody murder when someone harass you in public. Fear, shock and disbelief may blunt our senses, but we can't give into fear for we may might lose what we hold precious. So fight back.As for the online abuse, I'd like to say, what I'd say to every other girl. Posting your photo on social media isn't wrong, but be careful with whom you choose as your friend.
