♡ Chapter 18 ♡

Several hours later,
Evening,
Around the crime scene,
In an abandoned house...

Izuku's POV

"Wh...what had happened here...?"

I gasped in extreme shock at this horrifying sight before me and Kai. Detective Reigen was also paralyzed in horror. My husband, though, looked calm even after witnessing this unpleasant bloody view.

Well, he is a former yakuza. He used to do works like this so... I guess this kind of view will never make him waver.

What view was presented for us?

We were currently in an abandoned house that was rumored to be a group of villains' nest. Detective Reigen assumed these criminals were related to the death of the three mothers, so we decided to investigate. But what we found was unpredictable... And totally gruesome.

As soon as we walked into one of the many bedrooms, a sight of dead bodies laying in a pool of thick blood greeted us. Their eyes were wide with unimaginable terror, as if they had seen the worst nightmare in their lives.

However, not all of them had their upper bodies. These villains' way of dying were quite similar to the three dead mothers.

Most of the villains' corpses lost their upper half, leaving only the lower half-- From the waist down. But there were about four of them that were not killed in such cruel way. These four corpses had holes in their abdomen... Indicating that their inner organs in the stomach exploded out of their bodies.

"This case is going to be more complicated now... Who in the world do such merciless thing like this? Even villains were killed." Detective Reigen shook his head distastefully. I merely nodded at his statement, agreeing.

"I don't think my theory earlier...is true. I couldn't understand this perpetrator's motive at all. What is he trying to accomplish? Killing villains and those mothers..." Kai was at loss of words. Looked like the theory he voiced out earlier couldn't be used anymore.

If the suspect is an obsessive fan of mine, then they would only target the mothers. But now, even villains died in their hands.

Just what in the word are they trying to achieve?

"I will contact my squad to send in some medics. Can you two help explore the house a little bit more? Inform me if you discover anything." Detective Reigen turned to us, his wrinkled hand holding a smartphone. I agreed and then wrapped my hand with Kai's, gesturing him to leave the room.

The two of us exited the bloody chamber. Both me and Kai were quiet the whole time, as we explored the house more searching for clues and evidents. Much to our dismay, we found nothing.

"This killer we are after... Is quite a brutal and insane one, huh?" Kai spoke up, breaking the silence between us.

I stopped on my track. Looking at the dusty floor, I clenched my hand into a tight fist. "Yeah... I have a bad feeling about this, Kai... Why do I feel like all of these things happen... Because of me?" I voiced out my concern.

"Izuku, we already confirm that you aren't the reason behind the suspect's crime. He must have other objective in his mind." Kai put his gloved hand on my shoulders to assure me. My lips quivered, hesitating to believe in him.

Kai is speaking the truth, but I can't bring myself to believe in him.

The feeling... Will not disappear.

I'm really sure that this case is related to us more than anything.

"Chisaki, Deku. It is going to be dark soon. We must leave before night arrive." Detective Reigen's voice snapped me out of my trance. "Very well. Izuku, let's go." Kai wrapped his arm around my shoulders and guided me out of the house. I was distracted and my mind kept wandering somewhere else so his action helped me a lot..

-- back at the first crime scene --

"Deku, are you okay? You look quite pale." Shouto's voice really startled me. I yelped in surprise and frantically snapped my head at him. The Half-and-Half hero stared at me concernly, his eyebrows drawing together.

"... I'm fine..." I lied to Shouto. I wasn't in the mood to talk to anyone beside my husband. My mind was swirling with countless thoughts, my heart was racing at rapid speed.

"... That is obviously a lie. Is something bothering you? You can talk to me about it." Shouto didn't look like he would walk away from me that easily. Unless I answered his question.

Sighing, I looked at my friend. "Seriously, it is nothing. I just feel slightly nauseous after witnessing a gory view just now." I explained just to satisfy his curiosity. This time, it wasn't a lie. I did feel a bit dizzy after leaving the house.

I darted my jade irises to his head. There was a leaf on top of Shouto's head. Reaching out my hand, I picked up the leaf from his head and let the leaf fell on the ground.

"What are you doing?"

"There was a leaf on your head. But I already remove it." I smiled a small smile at Shouto. His eyes widened, before he roughly grasped my wrist. "Ah-- Shouto, what are you...." I stared at him, confused.

His dual-coloured-eyes blinked twice, inspecting my features carefully. "Midoriya..." Todoroki-kun suddenly called me with my maiden name. He snaked his arm around my waist and pulled me closer. I was horrified by his action.

"Todoroki-kun, no—"

Out of the blue, my head started throbbing. My vision got blurry for a few seconds and I could barely see my surroundings. I hissed, clutching my head in pain.

"Midoriya... What is wrong?"

I didn't answer Todoroki-kun. My headache was bothering me.

When I opened my eyes again, my vision was still unclear. But I saw someone that seemed familiar. There was a girl standing at the corner of a house, hiding herself from the crowd. I tilted my head to get a better view since Todoroki-kun was blocking me.

My heart dropped.

My eyes widened in astonishment.

Words couldn't describe how scared and worried I was right now.

Eri?! What is she doing here?!

Realizing that I was watching her, "Eri" then fled from the scene. I shoved Todoroki-kun out of my way and began chasing after the girl. She looked like Eri but much taller, and looked a little more matured. She seemed like a young adult.

Wait..

Maybe...that isn't Eri...

But the killer!

She was trying to lure me away from the crowds!

Idiot! Why did I follow her without informing anyone?

I arrived at an alleyway. I was breathing heavily gasping for air. That girl was way too fast! Where did she disappear to?

What is the meaning of this?

Who in the world is that girl resembling Eri?

Is her Quirk has something to do with illusions? Is that why I see Eri instead of the villain's face?

I eyed the alleyway intently. Nothing suspicious. There was no one else here besides me. Gosh, I was fully acting out of character today. I let myself spaced out. I couldn't focus on the investigation.

Something mysterious... Something unknown... Was bothering me.

But why can't I figure out the cause?

I sighed and left the alleyway, heading back to my husband and my friends. Some of them had gotten into the cars, getting ready to return.

"Izuku, where did you wander off to?"

Kai asked as soon as he approached me. I brought myself to embrace my husband, my body shivering lightly. "K-Kai, let's go get the kids... I-I'm worried..." I whispered, tears threatened to spill.

Kai stayed quiet. He stroked my hair and replied, "Alright. Detective Reigen also just told me that we could go home."

Kai held my hand and led me to our car. I was determined to see the kids again. There was something off. I wanted to check on them immediately.

God, I hope they are doing okay...
