♡ Chapter 15 ♡
At the crime scene
Morning....
Third Person's POV
Izuku and Kai arrived at such a perfect timing. All cops and investigators had gathered there. Many police cars were parked around the neighbourhood, along with other heroes' cars too. Looked like they weren't the only ones who were summoned by the polices to help with the case.
"This is really serious... Many heroes are here... Even some of my riends." Izuku spoke up, turning to her husband. Kai was wearing his casual attire -- black button-up shirt and black pants -- and his black surgery mask. He inspected the scene, feeling a bit uncomfortable with all the heroes presents.
Sensing the uneasy reaction from him, Izuku smiled softly before holding hands with Kai. The brunette shifted his gaze to his wife, feeling much more secured and calmer than earlier. "You will be fine. Just be yourself, Kai..." She reminded, tightening the hold on his gloved hand. He silently nodded his head, beginning to accept their current situation.
Walking to the polices, the green heroine tapped the shoulder of the investigator she was close to. Reigen was slightly startled by the sudden contact so he hurriedly turned to whoever the person that interfered with his work, face clouded with discontent.
But the negative expression immediately disappeared when he realized it was Izuku behind him. He took off his hat, placing them on his chest before bowing down a little to the young lady.
"It is good to see you, Deku. I'm glad you could come." Reigen expressed his gratitude, his gaze darted to Kai who was looking somewhere else. Knowing he didn't intend to talk to him, the detective respected his choice.
"I could not ignore such a disturbing case. This is a serious matter and we are fairly involved in this..." Izuku paused there, clenching her fist. "... I can't just stay still and do nothing." She continued in determination.
"I see. Then, let's go to the crime scene..."
Reigen guided the married couple to the crime scene in complete silence. The polices backed down to give them space to walk through. As soon as they arrived, Izuku's emerald eyes flew open, hand clamping her mouth. Kai was obviously disgusted by the bloody, gory sight. But he felt a bit disturbed by it.
The blood splattered the ground, the borders, walls and the electric poles. "As you can see, the victims were brutally killed... By this unknown dangerous villain." Reigen started, not wasting any time.
"Chisaki, do you recognize anyone doing such heartless thing like this?" The older male turned his attension to the former yakuza. Kai eyed the blood, processing everything he saw.
'The way the villain killed their victims... Is kind of similar to mine. These dead mothers were probably blown away in one hit. Such a destructive Quirk,
indeed...' Kai rubbed his chin while nodded his head along. He tried to think of any villain with this destructive Quirk...
... But no one came into his mind.
"... I couldn't think of anyone. I have never met a villain with a malicious Quirk like this before..." Kai aired out his opinion, golden eyes still locked on the blood-splattered ground.
"My apology. Looks like I couldn't be any help for you, Detective Reigen." Kai apologized, gaze never averted from the bloody scene. Izuku patted his shoulder, reassuring him a little.
"That is fine. Perhaps if we get more clues, you can recognize the killer and his motive—"
"If for motive, I think I know what it is." Kai cut off Reigen's sentence. His words piqued the other male's interest. "May I know what is it?" He quirked an eyebrow in curiosity.
"... These victims... Are the mothers who threatened our family before... It could be the victim is an... Obsessed fan of my wife." Kai turned to Izuku, who was caught off guard by his remark. The heroine gasped in shock. "Maybe her fan saw what happened yesterday and decided to... Murder them out of rage. I have met lots of fanatic people like this back in the days I was still a yakuza. They will do anything for their idols... By anything, I mean anything."
Kai cleared his throat and ended his sentence there. Reigen and Izuku were dead silence after hearing his statement. They didn't know how to reply or what to say back. Just silence... Among them.
"Then... This is my fault..." Izuku croaked out, clenching her fists while gritting her teeth. Kai rubbed circles on her back, shaking his head. "Don't blame yourself, Izuku. This is out of our control." He assured. God, maybe he shouldn't have said that. But his instincts was the one that came up with the theory.
"Anyway, now that we have a logical theory, let's proceed—"
"I'm sorry for being late." A familiar voice interrupted their conversation. Recognizing the owner, Izuku hastily turned to the man's direction. As she guessed, Shouto -- who was properly dressed in his hero outfit -- was standing behind them, looking very surprised.
"Mido— I mean, Deku. You are here too." Shouto said, staring at his former schoolmate. "Yeah, I never knew you will be here too, Tod— Shouto." Izuku, also almost addressed him with his name, swiftly used his hero name. Both of them shook hands.
"... And looks like your husband is here too..." Shouto eyed the said male, feeling a bit uncomfortable with his presence. Their last meeting was an awkward and unpleasent one. So to meet again under this circumstance was... Awkward.
"Before you make any accusation, I will say this first out and loud. I'm here to assist, not looking for trouble. So I hope you behave, Pro Hero Shouto." Kai, sensing the tension between him and the hero, narrowed his honey yellow eyes at him.
Izuku and Reigen just watched from sidelines, looking at each other quietly. The detective leaned closer and whispered to her,
"They are on bad terms, huh?"
"Yeah... I don't know what to do to get them to get along."

Meanwhile,
Musutafu,
In the neighbourhood Inko and Toshinori live...
Third Person's POV
Eri watched her little siblings playing in the playground , a smile of joy plastered on her face. She sometimes joined in the game too, enjoying her time with them.
Inko had given permission to them to play in the park, since the triplets insisted and kept throwing tantrum. But Eri must keep a sharp eye on the small kids, so they wouldn't stray away from her.
So far, nothing bad happened and she was glad they listened to her orders.
However, the plan didn't go as smooth as she thought.
Ichiru saw a green butterfly that caught his eyes. His gold irises glimmered in excitement before he began chasing after the little insect. Eri was unaware of his disappearance since she was too immersed in playing with Ken and Aiko.
Ichiru happily went after the green butterfly, trying to catch it from time to time. He had ran off too far from his siblings. Now, he arrived in an unfamiliar place.
A dark, creepy alleyway.
But the boy was too obliviois to realize it. Ichiru managed to catch the butterfly in his palms. When he opened his hands to take a look, the butterfly flew away from him.
"Aww..."
The green-haired boy whined, pouting. He was about to go back to the park, when he noticed the new environment. Shakily looking around, he searched for his older siblings' figures.
"E-Eri-nee...? Ken-nii...? Ai-nee...?"
He uttered every single name of his siblings. Tears began to flood in his big round eyes. Fear settled in him, causing him to burst into tears.
"Mommy! Daddy! Uwaaa!!!!!"
Poor little boy cried out, calling for his parents. He bawled his eyes out here and there, desperated to see his family.
As the boy was wailing, an adult's figure creeped behind him, shadowing his little body.
