Chapter 36

(Edited)

"What the hell, why cant I choose the movie?" Ashton asked Mason angrily, slumping down on the couch next to me.

Mason rolled his eyes. "Cause every time you do, the movie turns out garbage," he said, putting his arm around Emily; who sat next to him on our right.

"The only one turning out garbage is you!" Ashton snapped at him, leaning forward. Mason glared at him, both of them ready to pounce one another.

"What are you dimwits arguing about this time?" Jason asked, walking into the room with Michael following shortly, with an amused smile on his face. They both sat down on the couch to our left-hand side, Ashton and I in the centre facing the big screen.

"He won't let me pick a movie!"

"I won't let you pick a movie cause all the movies you choose are horrible," Mason argued back. "I won't watch another stupid romance movie!"

Emily glared at Mason, hitting him on the head. "Watch it! Thats my favourite genre, you small-minded Human." She smirked smugly, and we chuckled at them.

"Ouch woman! Why you gotta be so violent?" Mason asked her with a pout, whilst rubbing the sore spot on his head. He suddenly turned and narrowed his eyes at her. "I'm not small-minded!"

She scoffed, folding her arms over her chest. "The only thing smaller than your brain is Mason junior!" She exclaimed, a witty tone lacing her voice. We cheered her on, making Mason angry.

He growled frustrated with her. "Ill show you small!" he challenged. Mason picked her up, throwing her over his shoulder, her purple shirt ridding up. He left the screening room with her squealing in protest.

"Don't have sex on my bed!" Jason yelled after them, his eyes not leaving his phone.

"Go get some Mace," Ashton cheered him on.

Michael chuckled. "Use protection."

I rolled my eyes and sighed. I needed to get better friends. "Your brother is going to break my friend," I told Jason, who only shrugged.

We currently sat in the screening room in the Louds house for a movie sleepover. Today was the first time that I had seen them in almost a week, after the whole ordeal, I needed to heal, so I didnt go to school or meet up with them. I felt better, and my wounds were healing slowly. Looking around their house, I was at awe; it was gigantically beautiful. Jason told me that on top of being a fashion designer, his mother also dabbled with interior designing. She decorated the entire place by herself. The house consisted of a game room, eight bedrooms: each with their own bathrooms, a pool and a big screen room. The whole gang- except Kate and Cassie- showed up for the sleeper over, something I was in dire need off.

"So, can I pick the movie?" Ashton asked after a while of silence between everyone. Jason and Michael glared at him, causing him to pout.

"There, there." I soothed Ashton with a pat on the head.

He swatted my hand away and grumbled. "Stop patting me, I'm not a dog!"

"You sure act like one," Michael mumbled.

Ashton scowled. "Are we sure were talking about me here, cause the only one acting like a bitch, is you!" I gaped at him, surprised.

Michael clenched and unclenched his fists, his persona ready for a fight. "You're not going to be saying that when I turn you black and blue." He threatened ready to jump Ashton.

"Try me!"

Ashton was about to stand up when I pulled hard on his arm to stop him. His head snapped towards me, a deadly glare on his face until he realized it was me, his eyes softened. He sat back on the couch, grumbling under his breath. Michaels eyes followed my every move while I was touching Ashton, a low grunt slipped past his lips when Jason pulled him back, whispering something in his ear. I looked at them expectantly, waiting for an explanation but got none. Michael shook Jason away and crossed his arms over his chest. Jason looked at me, and the only answer he could provide was a shrug. Freaking boys!

I rolled my eyes, confused with their behaviour. "Since you all are being argumentative, I'll choose the bloody movie." I looked around the room for the remote and found it next to Michael. "Michael, can you pass me the remote?" I asked him. He ignored me blatantly and pulled out his phone, typing away at it.

I groaned with frustration, standing up, I grabbed the remote with force; he flinched slightly but didnt look away from the screen. I sighed and walked back to my seat. He has been a jerk to me the entire day, what is his freaking problem? I saw Michael looking at me out of the corner of my eye. His face held a lot of unnecessary emotions; anger, sadness and regret. Why was he angry at me?

'Maybe because you left his house without saying goodbye!' Lilly pointed out. I wrote him a note!

'Maybe because you were gone for almost two weeks and didnt let him know you were okay!' Lilly said. I wasnt in the right state of mind to talk to anyone.

I sighed scrolling through Netflix—I couldnt even win an argument against myself— and found Good kids; Emily watched the preview and said it was a great movie. I started the movie and pressed pause waiting for Mason and Emily to join us.

"That was a jerk move, man!" Ashton spoke up, looking at Michael.

Michael looked up from his phone, a bored look on his face. "I'm sorry," he said. "Are you talking to me?"

Ashton scoffed. "No, the asshat behind you!" Michael stared at him; his eyebrows furrowed mockingly. "Just because youre angry with me doesnt mean you have to take it out on Autumn." He said irritated.

"I can do-"

"Guys," I called, trying to get their attention. They were arguing over me, literally, and it was getting on my last nerve.

"-whatever the hell I want." Michael continued.

"Seriously?" I shot Jason a look.

"and you're nobody to tell me otherwise." He sneered, clenching his jaw.

What the heck was going on with them? Did they take some conflicting drug or something? No matter what I said, they kept snapping at each other, and Jason was no help at all. I sunk into the couch and let them argue until they decided to grow up. They argued for a whole ten minutes when Ashton stopped and turned towards me snickering. I blushed and looked away; he heard my stomach growl.

"Aww," he cooed, poking my cheek. I slapped his hand away and stared towards the opposite of the room. "Is the little girl hungry?" He chuckled. Michael and Jason stared at us confused, and I smiled inwardly, this was my chance to distract them from each other.

"I've been here for three hours, and nobody has fed me yet!" I complained. Michael bit his lip to suppress a smile and combed his finger through his hair.

Jason chuckled looking at me. "I was wondering what that horrifying sound was!"

"Jerk!" I mutter under my breath, and he stuck his tongue out. I loved the fact that our friendship grew so much. "Ashy, please feed me?" I begged.

He leaned back against the couch, closer towards me and scratched his chin, thinking. "Mmm," he said, then looked at me. "No!"

I gasped. "Why not?"

"Because everyone here is hungry. You'll have to wait like the rest of us," Jason replied, smugly. Michael tittered, and I rolled my eyes, turning back to Ashton with a pout.

"Sorry babe, the boss has spoken."

I huffed, annoyed with everyone in this freaking room. I was over-powered and Emily, my trusty sidekick, no where to be seen. The room went silent; this gave me a second to reminisce on my night out with my other boys. I didnt realize it until now how much I had missed James and the boys. That night was something that I desperately needed, and here I was holding on another day. Jamess last words floated around my mind, a promise he had asked, something I wasnt able to make. I shook my head and focused on the better parts of the night, our silly conversations. Their witty, repartee always set the right kind of mood, something that pulled me out of the slumps every time. Looking around this room, it hit me that these boys had that in common.

Ashton started moving around on the couch, throwing his legs over the armrest and his head on my lap. What on earth? This boy didnt know the definition of personal space. I pulled my crossed arms away from my chest and looked through the gap; I found Ashton with a toothy smile, looking up at me. I glared at him, and he stuck his tongue out. I refrained from scratching my thighs, Ashton was laying on them, and because some of them were scabbing over, they would itch. At least they didn't hurt as much anymore. I could hear Michael and Jason whispering, but I ignored them and started pulling silly faces with Ashton.

Ashton chuckled and kissed my forehead. My heart warmed up with love. I was so lucky to have such a great friend in my life.

"You're cute!"

I brushed my hair over my shoulder and smiled smugly. "Tell me something I dont know!" He poked my nose, and we laughed at each other. I didnt miss the look on Michaels face, and when I looked over at him, he looked away clenching his jaw. My heart plummeted.

After a while, Mason and Emily came back, and we ordered pizza. While we waited for the food to arrive the boys were talking about a game, they watched a few days prior, and Emily and I sat on one of the couches talking about anything and everything. I mentioned how rude Michael was being, and she almost attacked him, I felt better after that.

I invited her to a car race that James mentioned the other night, and she was excited. Michael, on the other hand, happened to listen in and kept on interrupting me and telling us that we werent going to something like that. We ignored him and made plans for that. I wasnt going to feel bad for him, he had been treating me horribly the entire day, and now he wanted to make demands.

"So, you and Mason?" I wigged my eyebrows at Emily. She blushed scarlet and slapped my thigh.

"Nothing happened. We only talked," she whispered, looking at Mason with a smile.

I chuckled. "Keep telling yourself that Kid!"
