Helpless
Anti looked as if his looks could kill.
He was glitching, bleeding from his throat, his eyes glowing green and he was even sparking.
To be honest, it gave the others there PTSD and Chase pulled out his gun to aim it at him, "DON'T FOOKING MOVE, ASSHOLE!"
Jackie just stared at the situation. He didn't know what to do. Anti had been nothing but kind the last few weeks around him. What happened to suddenly change him like this?
Or was Sean right all along?
"Jackie! Fucking do something!" Sean yelled at him, "Don't just stand there!"
Anti tensed at the sound of Sean's voice and growled, "Just try it, hero" he suddenly grinned in a rapid change of mood, "Or are you too weak now to handle me?!" he laughed.
But Jackie just took a step back, 'But Anti said he could barely take Chase on in a fight. . . Was Anti really lying to me the entire time!?'
He didn't want to believe it . . . . but he was looking right at it. This was the same Anti that made their lives miserable a few years back. He had never changed.
"You . . ." Jackie clenched his fists to where his knuckles actually popped, "You bastard . . . . I fucking should have known better"
"Get him, Jackie!" Chase cheered him on.
Meanwhile Anti couldn't move for himself and that was drawing up red flags for him alone. He couldn't move or talk for himself. It was like there were strings being pulled on him.
He didn't want this. He spoke those words but they were lies. Why was this happening?!
But he saw a familiar look in Sean's eyes.
That lust for power over him. Something he could control.
'But how? I freed myself from him! There's no way!'
He felt Sean trying to move him towards Jackie to attack but in that moment, he tried his hardest to stop himself.
The group saw Anti shudder and shake, his teeth clenched hard and scraping.
Sean narrowed his eyes at him. All he wanted was some footage and he'd get it from the body-cam he was wearing. Why was Anti fighting it? All he needed was a little push, right?
Anti wanted this, he was just being stubborn.
It didn't matter how he freed himself before from his mind, Sean had a different way of controlling him and making him do what he wanted for his videos.
Anti was his first creation. He'd always have some amount of control over him because of how closely connected they were. It just so happened that connection was stronger the closer they were to each other.
But Anti wasn't having it. He didn't come this far to be used like his little toy again for views.
"JACKIE! GET HIM!" Chase snapped at Jackie, "This is our chance!"
Henrik just watched the entire scene play out and to him it was very odd. Anti really seemed to be struggling.
'No' Anti bit his lip hard enough to draw blood, 'You won't control me again! I won't let you!'
Without a word, Anti was able to snap out of it for just a moment before glitching, getting the hell out of there.
Jackie felt a huge weight lift off of him. He was glad he didn't have to fight Anti.
'Just what in the hell just happened?' he looked over to Sean and he expected disappointment.
There was but just . . . not directed at him.
"Dammit" Sean cursed, "I was hoping you guys would fight."
"What do you mean by that?" Jackie asked, "You'd want to risk any of us getting hurt?"
"You know that's not what I meant, Jackie" Sean sighed, "I just sort of hoped we'd be able to finish this already. I see what you mean about him often running off instead of fighting. It looks like it gets annoying."
" . . . . .yeah" Jackie didn't know what else to say to him.
There wasn't much TO say. He couldn't just out him right now one against three and it wasn't like Marvin was gonna just pop out and reveal his little escape trick. And Jameson couldn't offer his own opinion, either.
So he just let it go for now. Whatever just happened, he'd find answers no matter what anyway.
One way or another.
Without arguing, he compliantly went into Sean's head along with Chase and Henrik.
Meanwhile, Anti gasped hard like a fish gulping for air when he glitched back to his apartment.
Immediately, he felt the strings snip off and he fell to the ground on his back. That feeling was back. That feeling of utter helplessness.
Like all he had ever worked for in trying to help his brothers. . . . it was all wasted.
Tears streamed down Anti's cheeks.
'None of it matters now. Jackie will just think I lied to him. He'll hate me again and so will Marvin even if Sean wasn't able to make me do anything. It still LOOKED like I was out of my mind and demonic!'
"Fucking bastard!" Anti slammed his fists against the floor, ignoring the blood from his neck that was pooling under him.
"Fuck" he muttered to himself but he didn't want to get up. He just felt like laying there, letting himself eventually pass out.
If only he could. His stomach didn't want that to happen, growling for attention.
'I'm not fucking hungry right now . . . stupid fucking body'
It growled again but he was half sure it might be from stress. He just wanted to crawl into bed, drink a bunch of Nyquil and hide from the world and his responsibilities.
'I wish he would have just killed me. . . . I should have just let Jackie or Chase kill me. . . . would have saved me a lot of upcoming headaches.'
With a heavy sigh, Anti picked himself up and stumbled to the bathroom to clean off the blood before doing just as he wanted, curling up in the blankets of his bed, crying himself to sleep.
'This day's over for me . . I'm done. Not like tomorrow'll be any better though. They'll ALL hate me again and this time there's nothing I can do to help it. Jackie'll really kill me now and he knows where I live, too! Maybe if I drink enough Nyquil, I won't wake back up . . .'
Jackie bust into Marvin's room, shutting and locking the door behind him, "Did you see what happened?!"
"Seriously?" Marvin chuckled darkly, "You're asking the magician who knows everything that goes on in Sean's life if he just saw the fuckery that just happened?"
Jackie waved his hands around as if waiting for the answer.
"Yes, I fucking saw it!" Marvin rolled his eyes, "But also, you have to give him credit. He didn't actually attack anyone!"
"But he could have!" Jackie groaned, "How could I have been so stupid?! I trusted him! I thought we were friends!"
Marvin nodded, "I KNOW, right? You'd think after all this time of hanging out with him, he'd be a pretty cool guy"
"What right does he have to play us for fools like this?" Jackie ranted, "I went to his house and everything. I spared his fucking life only for my trust to be TRAMPLED on!"
"uH . . . .hmmm" Marvin stopped, "Are . . . are we talking about the same person, here?"
Jackie stared at him, "Aren't we?"
"I was talking about Sean"
Jackie blinked, "I was talking about Anti!"
Marvin snorted, "You REALLY think Anti was in control of himself back there?! Did you forget that dumbass's stupid goofy smile and innocence!? Sean was obviously in control of him back there"
"What?" Jackie didn't get it, "But Anti said he freed himself from Sean a long time ago. Wouldn't that mean he'd be able to resist any commands from him?"
"And Anti also said Sean may have learned from when Anti escaped him before. It wouldn't be surprising if Sean figured out how to manipulate him after so long. You REALLY think Anti could hurt a fly on purpose?" Marvin laughed, "Boy can't even ask out a girl . . . . PLUS he managed to run away and NOT attack or hurt anyone. I respect him for that 'cause I definitely would have beat Sean and Chase's asses"
Jackie chuckled at that, "I know you would . . I'm still not sure, though."
Marvin tossed him a vial and Jackie caught it, "Why don't you go check on him, then?"
The hero thought about it. Maybe he should.
'And if Anti really was lying, I could take him out when he least expects it'
Marvin gave him a look, 'I could feel what Anti was feeling, you know. You aren't gonna ask?"
" . . . . . .. " Jackie gave in, "What did he feel?"
"Helpless"
" . . . ." Jackie thought for a moment before downing the vial of Marvin's potion, disappearing out of his own free will.
Marvin sighed, "I need to make more of those"
Henrik didn't know what he witnessed but it wasn't normal.
When he went back into Sean's head, he immediately went to his little lab and went through it over and over in his head.
The look in everyone's eyes. The situation. The words used.
It was all very odd.
And what was worse was that Jackie didn't seem to want to hurt Anti at all. It was completely out of character for him.
'Something is definitely up' he thought, 'And while Jackie seemed relieved Anti got away, Sean was clearly upset. As if he vanted something more to happen. And Anti's actions . . . .'
It wasn't like Anti didn't run off a lot but this was an odd time to do so. He had Sean and him right in his sights.
'But instead, he ran away. Looked to be struggling. Something more is certainly going on I don't know about . . . . but I VILL find out'
Henrik sipped on some coffee, thinking further as the night progressed.
Jameson heard about the incident from Chase. He hadn't seen anything but it sounded pretty odd. He didn't question Chase, though. It seemed as if he were mad anyway about Anti getting away.
Personally, Jameson was happy he did. That meant no one got hurt.
Jameson yawned but set up his little stage in his room, making new sock puppets for another short film he was working on.
'Sometimes, I think Chase and the others can be quick to judge. Not that I'd know better. I might be wrong for all I know. But still . . . Has Sean actually given Anti a chance? Talked about anything? It seems like that should be the first thing to do'
But then again Jameson was naïve. What did he know? He had barely spent any time out in the real world at all. How did HE know how any of it worked?
He wished he did.
Or least given the chance to.
'Maybe one day things will be better'
Everyone thought Chase was stupid for blindly believing in Sean. But how couldn't he? He had seen Anti's wrath up close, right?
Anti had possessed Henrik, James and him. Anti had put those thoughts in his head, made him do things.
And Sean had saved him. Helped him. Gave him a purpose to distract himself from that pain.
It wasn't as if Chase hated Anti. He just entirely believed there wasn't any good in him.
Who was he to not believe Sean? He had given him more freedom than any of the other egos and he wasn't about to throw that all away for foolish hopes and dreams.
'I get to go wherever I want, eat whatever, drink. I get to watch TV in Sean's house and babysit BB, edit videos. . . . it's like I almost have the exact same life as Sean but . .. more depressing'
He had memories of his children going missing only to be found dead. His ex-wife leaving only to get killed by a robber that stabbed her on the street. Chase knew Sean fabricated these memories but it make them any less real to him. That and he didn't blame Sean. He couldn't just take those memories away from him. It was a part of his character and development.
'But every time I go to bed each night, I dream of it . . .' Chase thought, 'I think of Anti as the one that killed them. Destroyed my family. Sean hasn't given me any reason to believe otherwise'
That was the source of Chase's hatred for Anti along with having gone after his brothers.
'I don't understand why Jackie can be so lax about it now. He had trained all his life to kill Anti and he squandered his chance today. Why?' he was angry about it and grit his teeth.
'Doesn't he know how much it means to take him down once and for all?!'
Jackie and Marvin had been right after all.
There was no convincing Chase no matter what. No unless they all could convince him together.
'I guess if it comes down to it, though' Chase held his gun in his hand carefully. He wanted to use it so badly today.
'If it comes down to it and Jackie hesitates again . . .. I won't'
