A Total Bust
Chase came up to the general store where that girl worked. Since he had seen her and Anti flirting that day, he thought it'd be the first best place to search for information. He had to figure out where Anti lived.
From there. . . he didn't know what he'd do but the sooner he found out where he resided, the better. Then maybe Sean might have some ideas on what to do with him.
He parked the car and bit his lip apprehensively, 'But what if she's in cahoots with him? She could tell me anything, then' he shook his head, 'She just gave him her number a couple weeks ago. She couldn't be strung up by him already' that's what he liked to believe.
He couldn't stand the thought of Anti brainwashing a sweet innocent girl. If only he knew . . .
Finally building up the courage, Chase got out of his car and into the small store.
The cashier greeted him, "Hello and welcome! Is there anything I could help you find today s-" she stopped, seeing who he was, "Oh hi! Your that one guy's brother, right?" she smiled so sweetly.
Chase cleared his throat but nodded, 'For the sake of getting information, I'll go with that'
"Uh yeah . . . sorry about that day. I wasn't in the best of moods. He's been evading me a lot lately"
She nodded, "Oh! That makes sense! You two DID seem pretty . . . . odd with each other. Well I hope everything turned out okay"
"Actually . . ." Chase walked up closer to her since she wasn't helping anyone at the moment, "I was wondering if you've seen him? Still haven't been able to catch him face to face since then"
"Oh, I'm sorry to hear that." she shrugged, "I mean he's come in here every once in a while for ice cream and some small random things but we haven't really spoken in depth"
This intrigued Chase, "Hm. . . . I thought you gave him your number that day?"
She turned to looking a bit sad at that, "Yeah . . .. he hasn't called me. I think I may have scared him a bit being too forward" she laughed a little, "I hope he does find the time, though. He IS pretty cute"
Chase wanted to puke, "Oh . . .uh"
"Oh! Sorry!" she scrambled, "I didn't mean . . . . I mean you're kind cute too, I guess. You're twins, right? It's just I've known him longer than you and- oh god, I'm sorry" she blushed hard and covered her face to hide her embarrassment.
"Uh . . . " Chase was really caught off guard and couldn't think of anything else to really say.
"Sorry" she groaned, "It's just your brother is such a nice and sweet guy! He's even helped lift some heavy items for me when he's come in and always asks how my day's been and he's so shy and cute!" she sighed heavily just thinking about him.
Chase gulped, "Um . . . Okay.
'Is this really ANTI we're talking about here?'
Chase cleared his throat, "Well . . . if you happen to see him" he shook off his surprise, "Can I give you MY number and you can tell me when he's here?"
The girl turned to look a bit distrustful, "Uh . . well . . I could let HIM know that you're looking for him and if he wants, I could give him YOUR number?"
Chase smirked, "Well you see, I don't want him running off again thinking I'm mad at him or something."
"Sorry, sir but I can't do that. As it is, I don't know Anti on a really personal level so it'd be quite unethical for me to do what you're asking."
Chase stuffed his hands in his pockets, "I see . . . I guess you're right. Sorry for asking"
"But I DO know he's said he likes to visit Sherry at the furniture center downtown. Maybe you could find out where he is from there?"
Chase perked up at this, 'Another lead? That just might work.'
"Thank you! It means a lot! I just wanna fix whatever rough-patches me and my brother have, you know? I don't like to be angry with him for too long"
The girl snorted but smiled bright, "Well I'm sure whatever you did wrong, he'll forgive you! Have a nice day, sir!"
Chase felt shattered a bit at that and gave her a look but made his way back outside to his car.
'Whatever I did wrong? Seriously? The bastard really has this town in his claws, doesn't he?'
Chase slammed his car door as he got in and started it up, 'And this Sherry . . . . the hell is she? Some sort of front woman covering for him? I bet she'll know where he is and I just gotta turn on the ol' Brody charm to find out!'
He kept telling himself that the only reason it didn't work on the cashier was because Anti has his claws in her too deep already.
But as Chase turned to look at the time, he groaned softly to himself. It was getting late.
'Damn. . . Maybe I'll just go tomorrow. Tomorrow's Sunday and I've seen that it tends to get more busy there on Sundays for some reason. If there's more of a crowd there, it might be safer'
Talking himself out of it, Chase nodded to himself, 'Yeah . . . that's it. I'll just wait until tomorrow. First thing in the morning!'
The next day, Anti woke up near almost noon. He hadn't slept good at all.
Thinking about the stream Sean had and seeing Marvin and Jackie prank him like that . .
It got him worrying even more about his ego brethren. What if Jackie and Marvin took it too far and Sean found out and punished them? Then what if Sean found out they were fraternizing with him!?
Knowing what Sean was capable of, he was scared to think about what he'd do. No one was ever supposed to go against a creator's will.
Anti remembered the consequences all too well.
He didn't want the same for any of his younger siblings.
Anti shuddered when he remembered what Sean had forced him to do to them. All for his precious story. Of course Sean didn't think anything of it at the time. He merely thought of it all as character development. Even if Sean never intended on hurting any of them, he made excuse after excuse and only Anti could through it.
Sean was terrified of losing the others just as he lost Anti.
'He'd do anything now to keep them at his side whatever the cost. He'd probably even kill me off now without a thought if he got the chance'
Anti was still in bed . . . .. but now with these thoughts rambling through his head, he didn't even feel like getting up anymore. It was Sunday but he didn't even feel in the mood to go to the furniture store.
'What's the point?' he flopped back on the pillows, 'Marvin and Jackie say they can get Henrik and Jameson but what about Chase? He's practically Sean's exact double besides a few distinctions. . . . . If I can't convince him, too, then I still fail and Sean might just hurt Chase in his own anger'
Anti sighed heavily, 'I don't think Sean ever intended on hurting them . . . but he did intend on hurting me. And if Sean loses control with all the others leaving, I don't want him accidentally taking out his anger on Chase. Even after all his loyalty to him . . . . he'd end up just like me . . . a fool'
Anti just stared up at the ceiling, remembering what things used to be long before his younger brothers were created.
'Maybe one day, I can be happy like that . . . .just like back then . . but with THEM at my side'
Some time later. . . . . .
Anti looked over at his clock. By now, it was already reaching after five at night. He had stayed in bed most of the day looking at his phone at Tik Toks and YouTube videos. Only getting up to go to the bathroom or to eat or drink something.
But now. . . he was in the mood to drink something else.
He was so tired of continuously thinking about all these memories in his head. All the things Sean made him do. All the lies that were told about him.
He knew Jackie and Marvin were on his side now but he needed the thoughts to just STOP.
Without thinking about it too much, Anti rolled out of bed, grabbed his wallet and walked out the door.
He needed a stiff drink.
And he knew the closest place where he could get one.
'They sell burgers and fries there, too' Anti licked his lips, 'I could just eat there, too, while I'm at it. Might as well be FULL and depressed.'
Chase pulled in the furniture store that afternoon. He didn't exactly tell Sean where he was going but he didn't lie to him, either. He just said he was going out.
He didn't know what to expect when going in but he felt as if he were ready. He'd talk to this Sherry and get the information out of her that he needed. He'd find out where Anti lived and finally take him out once and for all by himself and they'd all finally be at peace. Or at least, he'd tell Sean where he lived and go from there.
Walking in, it seemed just like an ordinary furniture store. Chairs, couches and beds strewn about for testing, décor and lamp fixtures and even rugs and drawers to choose from.
Everything was neat and organized and something smelled absolutely amazing.
He followed the scent.
Looking around, Chase saw many people in the store. Salesmen trying to convince customers why they should buy things there, the customers 'testing' furniture going the next level by making themselves extremely comfortable, kids and teens lazing about on some TVs nearby playing games.
It seemed like a nice quant store. And still taking all of this into consideration, he followed the scent that smelt so good.
Until he saw some kid with chocolate chip cookie in his hand.
Chase's stomach rumbled and he realized he hadn't ate anything at all today yet.
'Damn, that cookie looks good' feeling comfortable enough to do so, he walked up to the kid.
"Hey, where'd you get that cookie, kid? You know where I can get one, too?" he asked politely.
The child didn't saw anything but pointed towards the back of the story and ran off with his mother who was busy talking to a salesman.
He didn't know why the salesman looked so strangely at him. He had never been in here before but Chase quickly put together that he must REALLY look like Anti. And he hated that.
Following the direction where the kid had pointed, he finally found the free lemonade and cookie stand and nearly ran up to it.
'Fuck! If I knew this existed, I would have been coming here a long time ago, myself!' he got in line behind some others who were also waiting. When it was his turn, though, a small older woman grinned at him as if she had known him forever.
"Andy! Why hello there, dear! I didn't think you'd come in, today! How are you, sweety?"
Chase was a little put off but took a cookie nonetheless, "Uh . . sorry mam, but I'm not him"
She took another look at him, "Oh my! I'm so sorry, dear! You must be one of his brothers he talks about so much! I'm so happy he's making so many new friends. He's always the shy one, isn't he?"
Again, Chase was floored with what he was hearing.
Anti? Shy? Cute? Nice? Not a chance in hell!
'He must be manipulating her, too, then. I might not get anything from her'
"Are you Sherry by any chance?"
"Why yes, I am! He's talked about me, has he?" she giggled.
Chase just shrugged, "I was wondering if you knew where he lived. Anti-I mean . . . Andy and I . . had a bit of a falling out, you see and I wanted to surprise him by showing up at his place"
"Oh that sounds lovely" Sherry gave him his lemonade, "But no, dear. I haven't the faintest idea where he lives. But I DO know he lives in town. Comes here every Sunday for my lemonade and cookies! Except . . . " she turned a little sad, "Except for today that is. I hope he's not sick. He DOES eat a lot of sweets. Then again, I hope he's spending some time with his new friends of OTHER brothers"
"He's told you he has other brothers?" Chase was curious about this. What has Anti said about them all?
The older woman was about to answer when she lit up seeing someone behind him, "Oh hello there Zane! How are you doing today, dear?"
Chase looked behind him to see another man dressed in black with dark hair and a pale complexion. Chase was a little surprised. At first he thought it was Darkiplier but there were clear differences such as the piercing's and more rounded face. Plus his hair was shorter and he wore jewelry around his neck and wrists. He looked like the picture of a goth punk, really.
But he smiled bright when seeing Sherry, "Hi Sher!" he then addressed Chase with a nod, "Sorry for eavesdropping but were you talking about that guy that comes in here every Sunday? Looks a helluva lot like you? You must be his brother. I'm Zane!" he reached to shake his hand.
Chase took it reluctantly, "Uh . . hey. I'm Chase. An-Andy's . . . brother."
"THAT'S his name? Huh. Honestly, he looked more like a Lucas . . . or . . . Dustin . . or even a Sam!"
Chase flinched.
Zane didn't catch how uncomfortable Chase was, though, and continued, "But Andy's still cute! Honestly, I was kind of disappointed he didn't come in today. I kind of liked watching him. . . THAT SOUNDED WEIRD! I mean . . I've never actually talked to him. But he seems cute"
'You are completely wrong' Chase fought the urge to roll his eyes.
"So I guess you wouldn't know where he lives, either, then?"
Zane gulped, "Oh, no . . . I don't follow him OUTSIDE the store. That'd be weird. But if you see him, could you uh . . ." he shrugged, "Maybe tell him my name? I saw him look back at me last week and I WAS gonna go up to him but he had some other people with him and I didn't wanna bother him"
"Other people?" now this just got even more interesting, "Who? Do you know who THEY were?"
"Nah, I didn't get a good look at them. They were too far away. They looked . .colorful, though. Probably more his type, I guess? I could have sworn he blushed when he saw me, though"
'I'm NOT your therapist, dude' Chase groaned in his head. 'I'M gonna need one after this, myself, actually'.
"Well thanks, I guess. See you around, man. And maybe stop stalking him in the store? That's kinda weird, dude" he didn't care if he was being rude, he had lost his patience.
He walked away, not even saying good-bye to Sherry OR Zane, taking his cookies and lemonade back to his car.
Only to trip on the pavement as he walked out and drop his lemonade.
'Fucking . . . ' he sighed, 'Well I guess it's a sign I need a stronger drink, instead. . . It's late enough now, right?'
He got in his car and drove off to the nearest bar. He didn't learn much but it was something. Anti lived in town and if anything, it was SOMEWHAT of a lead. More than what Jackie's ever gotten.
He drove up to a bar on the corner of the street that also seemed to sell burgers and fries.
'Sounds good to me' he walked in, not caring what the night would bring him or what Sean or the others would do or say. He had enough and he was getting drunk whether everyone else around him agreed with it or not.
