It wasn't until 2 days later when the group came to the area for another game of baseball. At first it seemed that none of them had even acknowledged my sudden disappearance, but later on they seemed to talk about it more and more. The one to talk about it least was Knuckles, but I kind of expected it since he was the only one who witnessed me leaving. They seemed to be having fun, that was until Sonic disappeared. I looked around to try and spot him, but I soon realised.

He's behind me, isn't he?

I turned around to see the blue hedgehog sitting on the ground, waiting to scare me. He pouted as he saw me turn around.

"Oh, hey Sonic, what are you doing here?"

He shrugged.

"Just wanted to scare you, but that didn't work. Why are you here? We were looking for you around the house but couldn't find you anywhere..."

I paused. I knew Knuckles wouldn't have told Sonic or Tails about my disappearance, it just seemed like something he wouldn't tell anyone about, weirdly enough.

"I just wanted to get back here. I like it more, I guess,"

"Oh, ok. Do you want to hang out with us all? We're going to get ice cream afterwards if you want to join us,"

Yet again I paused. Hanging out with the group did sound good, but maybe not quite yet.

"I'm good, thanks-"

I was interrupted by Tails, who had found us behind the bush.

"Hey guys! It's been a while y/n. Anyways, Sonic, we should get going. It's starting to get late,"

Sonic nodded in reply and left, saying a quick goodbye as he went. I sat in silence afterwards...

~4 hours later~

I was getting dark, and quickly. I continued to rest behind my homely bush, but a ruffling sound distracted the calmness. I looked around, before getting up and investigating the noise. It was closer than I was expecting...

But suddenly, a red blur jumped from one bush to another, quickly enough for me to barely only notice.

"What, is that...?" I muttered to myself, before seeing a familiar red creature with hypnotic purple eyes staring back at me behind one of the bushes.

Knuckles... wait, why was he here?...
