A strange decision
Alandria stood facing Zayden with enormous eyes, unable to move. It was as if all the muscles in her body had decided to stop obeying her. She could not tear her eyes from the guns in Zayden's hands.
*The way he's handling them.....it's as if....* she thought before her brain took over.
*As if...he's been in the mafia since he was a kid...*
The image of little Zayden running around with an AK 47 in a playground popped in her mind suddenly. It was funny, yet not that much.
Alandria gulped at the thought of Zayden actually being in the mafia and backed off. What the hell! Zayden was a criminal! How was this even possible? Now she was sure that his father would not help her. On top of that she knew that they were mafia...DID THAT MEAN THEY WERE GOING TO ELIMINATE HER TOO?????
"Oi! I am talking to you!" Zayden yelled, his eyes narrowed.
"Why...yes....you were saying?" Alandria answered in a different voice, her heart beating fast in her chest.
Zayden sighed and marched towards her quickly. He was now inches away from her. He scanned her face, clearly noticing her uneven breathing and his expression softened.
Alandria waited in anticipation. The AK 47 was still in his hand.
*Well dude it was nice knowing you! See you in the hereafter...* she felt her brain say.
*Wait...don't go...* Alandria said back, feeling that she was about to have a heart attack.
"Listen..." Zayden said in a calm, yet raspy voice.
He reached out to her to gently hold her small arm. Alandria looked at him questioningly.
"We cannot stay here anymore. It's dangerous. I am having the feeling that they've got my dad...and I cannot inform the police...you understand why I suppose..."
"You can't risk your....mafia...I mean...I'm sorry....your business...." Alandria stammered, not wanting to piss him off.
Zayden chuckled at that. He was cute....she thought.
"Yeah...I cannot risk my mafia business being discovered..." he said with a smirk, "And....you cannot go home alone....want to come with me?"
Alandria tilted her head to the right a little. The way he was asking that was as if he was...asking her to go down to the beach or something. Running away from mafia...with him? With someone from the mafia? What kind of a sick plan was that? Did she even have a choice? She did...she could go back home and hide until her aunt comes...or go and spend the day in a shopping mall where she would be safe in crowds...she could also go to the police.
Could she though? Could she tell the police about Zayden being part of the mafia? Would Zayden kill her if she did so?
"Zayden..." she began, "I....I....."
"You want to go to the police?" Zayden interjected, "Don't worry...I'll be on the run...they won't find me...but if they find the doctor it would be great."
"But you..." Alandria said, feeling sad, "You...."
BANG! The living room's door banged open. Thumping sounds could be heard and loud voices as well.
"SEARCH FOR THEM! THEY MUST BE AROUND HERE!" a voice barked.
Soon later, gunshot could be heard along with the crashing of vases.
They were not kidding! They were here to finish them off!
"Make up your mind Alandria!" Zayden said in a serious voice, "What do you want to do??"
More gunshots were heard.
"TURN THIS PLACE UPSIDE DOWN" the same voice yelled again.
Alandria gulped and felt her body shake. She looked at Zayden, standing tall in front of her, his eyes...his eyes on her....as if...ready to save her. She then remembered how he had grabbed her arm and ran away with her....together....
*Going home would put everybody in danger anyway!* she thought.
*There's...no one at home at this time...* her brain reminded her, but she ignored it.
"Zayden!" she said out loud, "I want....I want....I want to run away with you!!!!"
These words came out so unexpectedly that Alandria herself had to cover mouth.
*WHAT THE FU...* her brain began, but Zayden started speaking.
"That's my girl!" he smiled mischieviously and grabbed her wrist.
He ran with her to a big painting showing a gigantic bird flying away. He then moved some mechanism found at the side of the painting and a passage appeared before the stunned eyes of Alandria.
"Ready?" he asked, excitement visible in his eyes.
Alandria nodded with small smile. The next moment they ran down in the passage which led to the garage. Zayden took some keys from a table and ran towards a shining black car.
"Get in!" he said as he took the driver's seat.
"Get in here! With me!" he suddenly yelled when he saw Alandria move towards the passenger's seat.
Alandria sat in front, next to Zayden. The car smelled nice...the seats were very comfy and Alandria felt....different all of a sudden. She was not afraid anymore. She was sure of what she was doing! She was going with him.
