Step 4 - Rendering
First of all, when shading, the rule is to determine which direction is the light coming from. In this case, the light source is coming from the right (shining onto the right side). Thus, the left side of the beast will be darker than the right, which is illuminated. Take into account also the shape of the muscles and how the body is distorted, because these factors influence the type and amount of shading. For example, look at the right forelimb (the one at the back that is bent). The light is shining onto it strongly, and this creates a shadow following the musculature and leg position. As rendering is the final stage for the beast, make sure that you are happy with the shading and patterns and all. Leave no space for uncertainty. The last step is the background, which is fairly simple. I don't intend to focus on the background much. It's going to be plain rock, whose texture is quite hard to obtain... I usually refer to real rocks when I draw them, because I'm a total loser at rock textures.. ^~^""
