Author's Note:

Its Aquilla aka me, it has been 3 years since I left Wattpad due to college and moved majority of my art on Instagram.  I am still unsure if I'll be able to post my art once again like old times but due to the career that I'm taking it would be impossible.

As I was exploring through my files on my pc I found an old fan fic that I wrote back in 2k17, yeah, back when I was still in high school and was going through my Undertale phase. It was a Toriel x fem! reader, if I remember, I took a small glimpse and fixed a few minor errors here and there.

I really wanted to show you all and would love to receive some feedback from you guys!

I sighed as I finally reached my apartment from my job, the Old folks' home was indeed a difficult and exhausting job. I've spent my time cleaning, preparing the bedsheets and aiding the elders with care but the feeling of tiredness brought a smile on my lips, I felt proud of myself that I had finally found a decent job and with a good payment.

Exhaustedly, I throw my whole weight on my soft couch and lazily took off my black sneakers pushing them away with the help of my feet and closed my eyes for a bit. Another tired sigh left my lips, slowly, I opened my eyes and moved my head to the left and there stood my purse keeping me company. I grabbed my purse and fished for my phone to look for the time. It was 5:30 pm. Giving myself one good stretch causing my bones to pop before closing my eyes once again.

As time passed, I weakly opened my sore eyes from my deep slumber, the first thing that I saw was the rich color yellow. I carefully move myself in a comfortable position until I felt how the soft delicate petals brush against my hands. I gasp, where am I?

I sat up straight and noticed that I was laying on a flowerbed of golden flowers and I was wearing my pink pajamas and orange socks instead of my nursing uniform, how did I reach here? What happened!?

The last thing I remembered was that I was in my couch sound asleep.

...Did I sleepwalk my way to here? No, it can't be possible! I may have somnambulant issues but this went too far.

Suddenly a low sobbing noise was heard at the other side of the room, it sounded desperate and feminine, and despite of waking up in a strange place I decided to follow the noise and look if there is another living source stuck in this place with me.

As I weakly entered the room, I found myself an empty patch of grass laying in the middle of the dark area, strangely it felt like if something was missing but I cannot tell. The sobbing noise was getting louder; I proceeded my risky journey leaving the mysterious gloomy room behind and entering another room, it was different compared the other room, the new area was beautifully surrounded with magenta tiles, the walls was nicely decorated with twisted green vines while the floor was neatly adorned with dry red leaves.

The sight was so breathless that I immediately forgotten about the mysterious weeping person and didn't even noticed on how long I stood there, suddenly I heard footsteps coming ahead of the room, I stood there frozen in my place unsure if running was a good idea.

And there it was, a beastly female figure appeared in the room, small horns adorned at the top of her head and had droopy long ears that almost resemble to a cow. She worn purple robes with a strange symbol on her chest. Her appearance was so breathless I couldn't help but admire her beauty.

She wiped away the leftover tears before looking down and notice me staring, which made her eyes widen at my presence.

"Oh dear," She gasped, "I did not expect a young human to be in this room... Greetings, do not be afraid, I am Toriel, caretaker of the Ruins. It has been years since the last human had fallen here." She gently smiled at me.

I slowly nodded my head, confused on what she was saying. "You must have had a nasty fall, come." She offered her large paw for me to hold, I looked at it for a moment until I had the courage to grab her hand making 'Toriel' smile even more. Surprisingly it was extremely soft and warm.

"Right this way."

...

The walk towards Toriel's home didn't took long, the house was small yet tidy for a monster like her, when we entered in the living room Toriel turn to look at me and asked, "I believe that you must be hungry from your small journey, I have some pie at the fringe if you would like?"

"What kind of pie flavor? I asked.

"Uh, well pie flavor, of course." she answered while I looked at her bewildered.

"...pie flavor, huh? I didn't- I haven't heard of that flavor before..."

"Hahaha, I was just messing with you. It is a delicious slice of butterscotch-cinnamon pie. Does it make you want to crave one?" I immediately shook my head earning a small frown from Toriel.

"Alright then would you like to read a book with me? Or maybe we can go bug-hunting together, isn't that fun?" She smiled at me.

"It does but I feel a little bit tired and..." I paused my sentence as I felt a wave of dizziness engulf me, I felt nauseous and my legs began to tremble. Toriel quickly grabbed me by the arm and made me rest my head on her shoulder. Her hand gently stroked my head.

"Oh! You must had hit your head really badly!" she gasped as she guides me to the living room and there rested a nice-looking armchair near a fireplace. "Take a rest for a moment, I'll be back for a minute." She said, her voice was smooth and calming that made me feel secure under her care. She shoots me another gentle smile before leaving.

I desperately sighed while rubbing my hands on my face. 'Okay, I woke up into this place, and now I'm being taken care by a freaking weird looking cow creature. Great and how am I supposed to get back home?' I thought.

"Tea?" a soft and angelic voice interrupted from my thoughts causing me to jump from my seat. There she was looking at me with concern on her face, on her huge paws was a small cup full of tea. It was so small that she had trouble on holding it. I immediately grabbed the small teacup from her hairy hands before it dropped.

"Thanks" I mumbled as I took a small sip from the cup, feeling the extreme warmth of the liquid made my cheeks go warm and flustered. I look up from the cup and saw Toriel standing there in front of me with a kind smile. That smile. I blushed a little and desperately began to think of a way to start a conversation.

"I apologize for the way I acted," Toriel broke the silence, "It is very irresponsible of me for not making sure how was your health. I was all busy thinking of various way to entertain you but now I noticed that all this time I was trying to entertain was myself." she frowned and laid a hand on my shoulder.

"Its fine, I guess I would've behaved the same thing if I was in our place." I reassured as I rest my hand on top of her soft ones as a way to show her that the feeling was mutual.

"Its funny, I thought monsters ate worms or something gross but I guess I was wrong" I sighed as I took a closer look at the warm liquid making Toriel tilt her head in confusion at my sentence.

"Em, there was this children's book." I chuckled, "How monsters were big and fierce, that they love to hide and scare children under their beds and their favorite meal are eyeball soup with worms on it."

"Oh, so that is how you interpret us?" She giggled bringing her paw in her soft lips.

"Yeah, I never thought that monsters could eat the same thing as us. Guess there's no difference between us." I took another sip of my beverage and let out a satisfied sigh.

"Uh, Toriel? When we entered your home there were some stairs, correct? where does it leads to?" she flinched at the question; it was hard to tell if she was nervously sweating from under her thick fur.

"What do you mean?" she asked with a serious tone in her voice.

"Toriel, did I say something wrong?"

"Hmmm." she went silent for a moment until finally she opened her mouth.

"Listen very closely, the underground is populated by monsters that are trapped with a magical barrier preventing them from the surface and it could only be broken with Seven human souls. Now, a huge horrendous monster named Asgore swore to have revenge against the human race and was successful in collecting six human souls that had fallen to the underground like you."

My breathing began to hitch while my hands began to tremble as she mumbled the last words from her lips.

"If you leave the Ruins, Asgore will have enough souls to break the barrier and have his revenge"

I was breathless, "What should I do now?" I panicked as I looked into her eyes. She sighed as she locked eyes with me. "Stay here, with me. It is the best way I can do to keep you safe."

I quickly stood up from my seat as thoughts began to rush in my mind. My life, my family and my career, its all gone now! My perfect life is all vanished because of my stupid sleepwalking.

"B-but my life is up there! what am I going to do?!" I panicked, covering my face with my shaky hands and turned my back to the monster as I tried my best to calm my beating heart. I flinched when I suddenly felt a pair of hands, one resting on my shoulder while the second one was gently rubbing my back.

"I am so sorry; I wish I could take you back home but there is nothing else we could do."

I looked down on the floor and inhaled deeply before looking back to face Toriel once again. "Alright, I'll stay." I mumbled, Toriel looked at me with a sad expression on her face.

"Must been a hard day for you, why don't you take a rest?" she assured, I nodded and began to follow her to the hall passing the now infamous stairs. We continue walking away passing two doors until we reached the last door that had a sign saying 'under renovation'.

"Since you're older I guess it is alright for you to stay in this room." She smiled as she pulled out a key from a nearby flower pot and opened the door. We both entered the small room that contained a queen-sized bed, beside it rested a wardrobe and a small wooden desk with a chair to keep it company. "I hope you feel comfortable, if you need anything else my room is right next door." She added as she began to change the dusty bedsheets and replaced them with cleaner ones.

"Ah thanks" I mumbled as I watched Toriel fixing the bed making sure there wasn't a single wrinkle on it. "All set! Take all the rest you need." She smiled warmly, grabbing the dusty sheets and made her way to the door. Before she could even step one foot out of the room, I felt myself begin to panic. My tongue immediately went dry, my breathing began to increase and my heart was violently pounding against my chest.

"Um Toriel, wait!" I anxiously called for her attention almost shouting causing Toriel's head turn back to me almost 180 degrees with eyes wide open.

"Um, thank you for- for um, letting me stay at your home." I bit my lip; a faint blush began to spread across my face as I timidly began to rub the back of my neck. Toriel's worried face was soon replaced with a loving gaze and looked down on the floor, not breaking her smile. "No problem young one."

"Please, call me (y/n)."

"(y/n.) (y/n)... a beautiful name for a beautiful human." She smiled.
