Missing You
Moar Shade fanart cos why not?
Story
Shade's P.O.V.
"What the hell is your problem?!" Cc, my sister's best friend screamed at me while shielding her 3-year old son behind her back. It wasn't my fault he looked like Rae.
Harsh glares eyed me down by her friends, especially from Breezy making my heart race. I tried to reply but no words would leave my parted lips. My eyes traveled down to her quivering, crying son. He's scared of me, I thought and mentally sighed.
Why? Well it's a long and difficult story but shortly said, I tried to give him a piggy back ride, as a mekur. Apparently I looked 'monstrous' to him and terrified the little boy.
After a few more minutes of my pointless denial, came anger which made Cc even angrier. I eventually snapped and dashed out of the house my sister and her husband lived.
Cc's son and Breezy's daughter was to have a play date where I had to watch over them since Breezy trusted me with Catrina. But Cc? I wasn't so sure. I've always felt distant from her, maybe it was because of our past or she had something against me but we didn't get along too well. I tried to be friendly but the words make me feel sick and instead silent insults came out. I wasn't used to being friendly.
In a matter of seconds my stumbling footsteps turned to rhythmic pawsteps and the strong wind hit my night-black fur.
I couldn't handle this, too many things have been reminding me of my passed away son. He died still young, defending my honor but the price was his life...to his own father.
The scene of his death replayed in my head like an endless carousel and even if I cleared my head, the memory would hit me like a boomerang. Anger clouded my mind and before I could look up, pain hit me. I had crashed into a tree.
With a hiss of annoyance I looked around to see where my paws had carried me to find myself in a tall clearing surrounded by old oaks. A single thought entered my mind at the familiar surroundings. Rae and Kagero's graves...."
I sighed and looked at the two ancient gravestones with slightly faded engraving. Every century I would normally redo the engraving to preserve the memory of my dead family. Even if I hated Kagero for what he did, he was still family.
I glanced at the two tall yet thick rocks as my body curled into a sleeping position in between them.

After a while I woke as cold surged beneath my fur. Snow? No it couldn't be. It was the middle of Autumn after all! I blinked the sleep out of my eyes and glanced around to find myself not in the same place I woke. I was standing the middle of a grassy meadow atop a hill that was taller than the rest. Bright colorful stars shone brightly beneath the dark blue and purple skies. It was like a dream. Was this Paradise? Had someone killed me in my sleep and ended my life permanently?
A high-pitched tinkling found came from a he stars as a starry figure of a mekur raced towards me from the skies. Definitely Paradise. As the mekur got closer, I recognized...
...Rae...
