The Tyrant Prince and The Son of a humble Merchant
Revered as the most handsome and wisest Prince in the Northern Kingdom, Michael Kaiser.
He was different. Handsome, perhaps not in a conventional sense but he had an aura that stands out from everyone else.
He had beautiful ocean-like blue orbs, cunning and expressive that would leave you breathless once he laid his eyes on you. A perfect textbook definition of what an almond eye is.
He had silky platinum hair with blue streaks, It must be gorgeous in damp.
His cosmic smile curling up to his soft thin lips that can move a thousand ships.
He smelled like summer wind, dune grass with a mix of bergamot and petals, a rosy masculine scent that was uniquely his.
Ah.
Isagi might be thinking of Kaiser way too much these past few days that he was lost in his own little world. Why wouldn't he be? This Prince had been bugging him ever since they were introduced to each other a couple of years ago. Despite Prince Kaiser's amazing reputation, wealth and status lies an arrogant bastard that looks down on everyone else beneath his station and if you have no use for him at all he will crush your spirit and ego until you cry for mercy.
This Tyrant Prince only shows his interest to someone who can feed him more power, so for someone like Isagi who's a part of the lowly noble rank, Kaiser would often mock them that they only got where they are because of the Imperial family's aid.
That pissed Isagi off.
If only he could rip Kaiser's smile off of his face he would have already done it.
Even so, Isagi couldn't help but be captivated by how amazing the young prince is. Without that shitty-ass-personality Kaiser is a great leader to his kingdom, the people in the Northern kingdom had been cared for and were living an amazing life compared to other nations. Prosperous agriculture, advanced technology, main hub, talented mages and more. Kaiser also participated during the cold war and brought peace between the tribes in the Northern Kingdom and even swore their loyalty to the Imperial Family because of him.
"As annoying as that god complex of a prince is, I can't hate him wholeheartedly, he has done so much for our kingdom." Isagi stabbed the cake with his fork.
Kunigami, a friend of Isagi when he was still a commoner, the only son of a well-known blacksmith in their town, comments,"Well, he did accomplish a great feat and he's still a prince. He really is a perfect king–I mean future king."
"Not perfect but yeah." Isagi rolled his eyes in annoyance. He still can't swallow that someone like Kaiser will rule their Kingdom someday, knowing that personality of his. "So, Rensuke, you wanted me to introduce you to that noble right? Um.. Lady Chigiri Hyouma?"
"Yeah, my father told me that she purchased four different swords from us but I have to keep it confidential."
"That's odd. I know female nobles are forbidden to hold any weapon."
"Not sure perhaps it's because of her family's reputation that made her exempted from that rule?"
"True. In any case, let's go?"
Isagi stood up and Kunigami followed after. Hyouma Estate isn't really far from Isagi's place; it was just a quick ride. He just dropped Kunigami off and informed him that he needed to leave soon for the preparation of the flower festival this year.
Kunigami and Isagi bid each other goodbye.
Coming back, Isagi's parents asked him if he could take part in the Flower Festival's Night Hunt event. It was an event where the nobles participated to impress the Imperial Family, capturing the golden stallion as an offering then the winner could be granted one wish of their heart's desire as a reward but one rule of the event is the participants have to ride a horse of their choosing.
Isagi wasn't really good at riding horses. If anything it scares him, afraid that he might get crushed by the horse or he couldn't control it but of course he couldn't refuse his parents. He was sure it was a way to get their family recognized by other nobles and maybe if they have more power they won't be trampled by others, like that tyrant prince, to make his parents proud he agreed half-heartedly.
Today was exhausting for Isagi, normally his schedule consists of attending his morning classes like noble etiquette, language classes, hierarchy, Astoria Imperial Family history, dancing, fencing and more ; After that he had to run numerous errands for their family business but because of the upcoming festival it added to his usual routine.
❀•°❀°•❀
Night Time.
Isagi was looking out the balcony with his arms resting on the railing, watching the stars shine brightly in the night sky and reminiscing about his life in the past.
He smiled thinking of everyone in Camron, his hometown. Life at the capital city might be comfortable but there are so many things that make him extremely anxious here compared to when he was in Camron. It doesn't feel like he's home, there will always be hidden snakes in the grass that were dressed lavishly and the competition for the top disgusts him, it's eat or be eaten in this place.
"This place feels like a prison."
"I agree!" A voice answered Isagi.
"What!?" Isagi jumped from where he was standing, turning his head from side to side. He was so sure he heard something but checking the area there was no one there but him. Is he imagining things?
"Hey, you okay!" There's the voice again. Where the hell is it coming from?
"What!?"
A giggle reached Isagi's ears.
"W-Where? Who are you!?" Isagi was about to bolt out of the balcony and called for help.
"I'm over here! Your shoulder, dum dum!"
"My shoulder–?" Isagi turned his gaze on his right shoulder. There was a small cute bee resting in it. His eyes widened, instinctively swatting the bee off of him and it flew across the room with a loud buzz, "AH! WHAT THE FU–"
"That's so mean, Isagi Yoichi! Is this how you treat cute bees like me!" The little bee complained, probably mad that Isagi tried to swat him off like a mosquito.
"No, No way. A talking bee?!"
"Why in the world are you in shock? You live in a world where there is magic everywhere. Are talking bees so new to you, commoners–oop, I mean you're a noble now. Sorrryyy!"
It's still bizarre for someone like Isagi. He knew that the world they are in is what the bee described but who in the world wouldn't be surprised when a bee suddenly popped out of nowhere and started talking to you like a human.
Isagi flails his hand, still anxious,"No, I mean. Why are you here and.. and.. and how did you get here?"
"Hehe, so I can get out of where I am."
"Get out?"
The talking bee didn't respond to Isagi's query and just flew back to his shoulder. Isagi frowned, trying his best not to upset it. Who knows what the bee could do, like stung him if he pissed it off or something. It was so weird too that this bee knew of his name. So, he just has to ask.
"What are you and who are you?"
"Hmm~ Bachira Meguru and I'm the mane–hmmm... man bee!"
That response poses more questions than answers to Isagi. He really didn't get this bee but it seemed like he couldn't really push it away so he just let it be and sat on the chair near the railings, he'll give the bee a benefit of a doubt for now.
"Nice to meet you, Bachira."
"Likewise! I'm glad that you're not scared anymore! You're the first friend I ever had so you better take responsibility okayyy!"
"I didn't–" Bachira moved so fast. If Isagi wasn't too tired he would have retaliated,"Okay. I'll be friends with you."
Bachira giggled buzzily, he raised his head up and watched the night sky while resting on Isagi's shoulder.
"You said your life here feels like a prison. I felt that. Maybe that's why I was drawn to you."
"Ah." Isagi blinked while listening to Bachira, he didn't get what Bachira was trying to say so he just listened but there was dead silence between them after that, guessed this little bee doesn't plan to share his story to a complete stranger.
"Um... Pretty sky right."
Bachira buzzed loudly in agreement that it hurt Isagi's ear, he's extremely sensitive with his surroundings so that gesture did some damage, realising this Bachira fly in front of his face and checked if he's okay.
"I'm sorry! Did that hurt you that much! It was a silent bzz!"
Isagi rubbed his ear in agony but since he didn't want Bachira to worry he smiled, "It's fine. I'm just.. Sensitive."
"Sensitive?"
"Mhm, I was born with– I guess you could call it a defect." Isagi chuckled dryly. Ever since he was little he had been peculiar amongst the kids his age because his senses were heightened to the point that any loud sound or small pricks from mosquitos can definitely hurt him.
Bachira smiled, it seemed like his new friend did not like this defect at all but the little bee thought nothing of it, so he floated happily around Isagi and landed on the top of his fluffy head.
"I don't think it's a defect, Isagi Yoichi. I think you're just special." Bachira complimented, "You might think it's a hindrance or it's sooooo bad you have that kind of thing latched on you, whatever that is but someday you'll see how special you are and that defect can turn into a miracle. I've seen a bunchie of them before! What they think was hurtful or useless can be a part of something big, Heed my words!"
Bachira buzzed softly this time, Isagi could imagine if Bachira was a human he would be puffing his chest and slamming his fist into his chest proudly. Isagi snorted. He tapped Bachira's small head with his pointing finger and rubbed it lightly, he could feel Bachira buzzing happily.
"Alright, I'll believe you. Who knows you're right, Bachira. Maybe this defect will be special to someone or something someday." Isagi bopped Bachira's head, "But that buzz still hurts, Don't do that again!"
"Owwie! I won't, I won't! I promise!" Bachira shook his tiny bee head, "Also Isagi Yoichi, it's getting late. Let's meet here tomorrow–I mean tonight, I mean next, next night! Whatever, let's meet again, okay!"
That was fast.
It made Isagi a little sad to part ways.
"Okay but just call me Yoichi. We're friends now, aren't we, Bachira?"
"Oh." Bachira could feel something warm bubble inside his chest,"Yoichi. Mhm'kay. Meguru. Call me that too, Yoichi."
"Good Night, Meguru. I'm sure your parents are waiting for you."
"Ah. Yeah. Hehe, good nighty Yoichi." Bachira then vanished into thin air.
Did I say something wrong? Isagi thought. Nonetheless, he went back to his room to rest. He has a big day tomorrow after all.
"Bachira Meguru, I wonder what kind of creature he is and why he chose to interact with me. I can feel a strong aura around him." Isagi tossed around before he could finally fall into slumber.
❀•°❀°•❀
You think you're better than anyone just because you're born a prince!
Kaiser clicked his tongue in annoyance. That lowly noble, Isagi Yoichi, whenever he remembers how much Isagi despised him, it ticked his nerves off. He took a glass of wine and drank it in one go, noticing Kaiser's temper, four of his noble friends looked at each other.
Alexis Ness, Rin Itoshi, Reo Mikage and Chigiri Hyouma.
"Michael, are you thinking about that boy again?" Ness asked, growing concern for him. Kaiser had been acting like this every time he thinks of that guy after all.
"Boy?" Reo repeated, intrigued by what Ness had claimed. For the record, Reo was so busy with Mikage's Family business and Veilchenblau's financial institute since the Mikage's is entrusted with the Kingdom's funds that he didn't have time to chit-chat with his friends thus he was oblivious of what was going on.
"That boy... Isagi Yoichi?" As for Chigiri who responded for Ness, he usually forgets these kinds of things since it's not relevant to him but if he rules it out Kaiser might get pissed and that's not going to look so good for his family so much as possible he memorise kaiser's wants and needs. They need to get on the imperial family's good side after all.
Rin on the other hand though could care less of whatever his friends were talking about since he was obliged to join in this kind of gathering and he had no choice but to abide by his family demands.
The Itoshi's and the Kaiser's are distant relatives and it's best to be on good terms with their blood relatives but Rin begged to differ. He's not dumb, he knew he was being used as a tool to keep an eye on the crown prince. If it wasn't for his older brother, he wouldn't be in this damn situation.
Unlike those three who are childhood friends, Rin was the latest addition to the group so there will be times that he'll feel left out but he doesn't mind it, their friendship, Rin treats it like a work anyways. It comes with perks too so he sticks with it even if it irks him to do so.
"Yes, that guy. How dare he offend ME, the crowned prince, future King of Veilchenblau."
He really is full of himself. The four thought in unison but of course they wouldn't dare say it to Kaiser upfront, if they do the Prince won't take it too lightly. They can only nod in return.
"I'll surely make him pay." Kaiser stood up, pacing back and forth, "What if I humiliate him during the Flower festival, for sure he'll ask for forgiveness."
"I don't think that's a bright idea Michael, imagine if you do, your people will see you in a bad light. They'll think the prince is childish and immature." Reo scolded. They'll also be dragged along with that idea so scratch that.
"Then, what if I just scare him? Summon him here then threaten him!"
"Not a very good idea as well, imagine if the word gets out that you bullied a lowly noble how will the other nobles react? It will set a bad example for everyone." Chigiri sighed. Kaiser's ideas are getting more and more ridiculous. He's surprised he can keep up with him at this point.
"What do you all suggest? I just can't let him say whatever the fuck he wants to me."
"Just ignore the boy, it's not like he's a threat to your throne." Ness mumbled. He loathes how Isagi is getting on Kaiser's nerves. The prince had been so focused on Isagi every day but he couldn't take revenge for Kaiser unless he was instructed.
"But he gets on my nerves...!"
Rin groaned in annoyance. If he doesn't say anything, everyone will think he doesn't care, for the record he really doesn't give a single damn about Kaiser anyway but if he didn't comment anything it'll cause more trouble for him so he just blurts whatever is on his mind.
After letting out a deep breath irritably, he suggested,"What if you become friends with him? Who knows, he may be beneficial for you and the kingdom."
"Are you out of your mind, Rin?"
Of course, Kaiser will get upset. He won't lower his head and ask someone like Isagi to be close to him. After all, the prince chose Alexis, Reo, Chigiri and Rin for a reason.
Power and Wealth.
Rin didn't respond to Kaiser after and just looked out the window. He didn't want to deal with Kaiser's temper, he wouldn't win anyways. Noticing this, Ness smiled at Kaiser and spoke on behalf of rin.
"I kind of agree with rin just give it a try Michael, I'm sure being friends with Isagi Yoichi will work wonderfully." Ness isn't really agreeing to be friends with someone he dislikes but it will be so easy to threaten Isagi if he was close to them.
"I don't–"
Before Kaiser could retaliate a servant knocked and entered the room.
"Greetings Young Masters." The Head Maid bowed gracefully and turned to Chigiri,"Lady Hyouma, I was informed by your governess to relay a message, the blacksmith's son, awaits your return."
"Oh? Already." Chigiri blinked. He pulled out his watch and checked the time. He acknowledged the servant swaying his hand to dismiss her and turned to his friends.
Ness, Reo and Kaiser chuckled when Chigiri is addressed as a Lady. Of course, Chigiri rolled his eyes at them. He was always teased by his friends for years for being treated as a noble lady, what's new.
"See you later guys."
"See you later lady chigiri." Kaiser grinned and waved his hand and so did the others to bid him goodbye. Well, except Rin. Chigiri waved back and left.
Upon reaching the car his governess greeted him politely and prepared his clothing and accessories, the Hyouma Limousine had a specialised compartment where Chigiri can change in peace. It was a nuisance for him to change, to prevent the public from seeing him in his Male presence. He was doing something ridiculous in the name of Hyouma Household.
"I will change once we get to the Casa."
"As you wish, Lady Chigiri. Your presence is needed once we reach the Casa, the message was from Marchioness Hyouma, your mother."
When they reached Casa Devene, Hyouma's Household. Chigiri dismissed his governess, he didn't want to meet his mother just yet, it was too suffocating to be ladylike, acting prim and proper inside the Casa since all the servants monitor his every move. His mother commands it.
Chigiri roamed around the western garden in Casa Devene, it's more blissful here than the Casa after all. He swiftly climbed up the tree to rest and kicked a few apples that were hanging by the tree, counting.
One..
Two..
three..
BONK.
"Ow!"
"Oh shit–!"
Chigiri sat up, checked the person beneath the tree and jumped down. He assumed that the apple fell on top of their head while he was pushing them off the branches. Chigiri focused his attention on the unfamiliar orange head, rubbing his head.
"I'm sorry, I didn't know that someone was here."
The young man laughed, "It's fine. I'm sure you didn't mean it."
Chigiri crossed his arms, eyeing the man in front of him from head to toe. He never met this guy before, he memorised every servant in the house and there's no way he could have missed this one."Why are you here? Are you stupid?"
That escalated quickly. The young man was taken aback by the sudden change of atmosphere. He thought Chigiri was regretful for what just happened.
"I'm sorry? I was lost on my way out and–"
"Are you a commoner?" Chigiri's tone was sharp as he asked another question."From the looks of it you don't seem like someone from a higher rank."
"Uh..."
"Your clothes and your demeanour I mean. So, who are you?"
"Kunigami Rensuke."
"Kunigami? Never heard of that Noble Household. So, you really are a nobody."
"I... uh..."
"Why did you come here? Do you know where you are now or you snaked your way in here to steal."
Kunigami held his hand high up to stop Chigiri from talking. He didn't expect to be accused just because he got lost. The Casa is too vast for him to navigate,"Hold up, I'm not here to steal anything even if I'm a commoner. I'm just here to deliver swords for Lady Hyouma. That's all."
With Kunigami's confirmation Chigiri's eyes widened, this man is the messenger whom his servant informed him about."Oh! The blacksmith's son?"
"That's right."
"Thank you."
"Huh?"
"Delivering my–" Chigiri stopped, he remembered he's not in his female outfit yet, "Delivering My sister's swords."
"No prob, this is our job after all." Kunigami was still perplexed, Chigiri kept changing his attitude towards him. Looking at Chigiri, he thought that the Hyouma's don't have any male heir and surprisingly too, he looked identical to Lady Hyouma from the portraits Isagi and his father presented to him, may be they're twins
"May I ask the young master for a favour?"
"Favour?"
"Pardon me for my request but please accompany me. I don't think I can walk alone in this big place, I'll get lost again."
Chigiri looked at Kunigami for a moment before agreeing with his request; he never accompanied any commoner in his entire life. For the noble's it's kind of disgraceful but since it'll be more troublesome if the blacksmith's son roamed around the Casa carelessly, his mother might go ballistic. He had no choice but to agree with the request and assist him. Chigiri walked in front of Kunigami, letting the other follow him like a little puppy. When they reached the gate, a maid came running towards the two.
"Lady Hyouma, where have you been? Your mother is looking for you and you need to change as quickly or else you'll be scolded. Oh."
The maid halted her words when she noticed Kunigami was by Chigiri's side. All were surprised with what just happened, Chigiri slowly turned to Kunigami but he seemed nonchalant of what he just heard, anxiously guessing if Kunigami understood what the maid had addressed him, hopefully not. Chigiri turned back to the maid and signalled her to help him with the guest.
"Oh! Greetings Dear Guest. Would you like us to bring you back home, we can drop you off at your place. Hyouma household's courtesy."
"No need, I can manage. I can go home on my own." Kunigami bowed respectfully,"Take care ma'am and..." Kunigami had a sly grin at Chigiri, "Lady Hyouma." He turned his heel and left by the front gate.
Chigiri was flustered when Kunigami addressed him as a Lady. Did Kunigami catches what the maid meant or not, he's just teasing. If he really does, he's sharp.
"Wait! You–!" He was about to chase after Kunigami to confirm but a sheer force stopped him. It's not like a lowly commoner will spread that news to everyone, he needed hard evidence to back that up that claim and besides Chigiri had more important things to think of right now like his mother.
"Lady Hyouma, forgive me but the reason your mother was calling you in a haste is because one of your suitors is here."
"Suitors?"
The maid nodded as she handed an envelope to Chigiri. He was surprised that this suitor agreed with his mother's proposal. This person will definitely be a big fish for the Hyouma household. It's time for his biggest performance for his family, It's not like he has any other choice.
"Let's go meet him."
