Chapter 2
Early Evening.
The sun was beginning to set as the laughs of three young boys could be heard, coming from an upscale home, more specifically the large backyard that accompanied the house.
"Sense the enemies I do. So be careful, will you? Signal Yellow," rang out from a dirty blonde boy, the confidence in his voice unmistakable. He raised his right hand and hanging from said hand was a small yellow keychain.
"Kick enemies to the curb and sally forth! Signal Blue," followed a raven haired, his mitch-match eyes gleaming with excitement. Similar to the first boy, his right hand raised with a similar keychain to the blonde's, however colored blue and designed slightly different.
A moment of silence passed. Both of the previous boys had their eyes on their other friend.
With a meek voice and a light blush adorning his pale cheeks, the silver-haired boy raised his left hand with another keychain, dyed red.
"You're facing me, and I shall stop thee. Signal Red..."
The other two cheered and ran off to grab brooms and mops they had found around the house. The blonde tossed the silver haired boy his mop. He gave out a battle cry and took a stance. The black haired kid followed suit after letting out a laugh.
"Come on Miles! Come join us!" The raven haired boy called out to the silver haired kid with a bow tie.
"Loosen up, Edgy!" The blonde added.
A beat of silence then Miles stood with his mop and a smirk grew on his face. He knew it was too foolish to let out a battle cry like his friends, but he let his love for the Signal Samurai take over.
Together, the friends swung the mops and brooms through the air like there were enemies to take down, long into the night until Miles' father call them in for dinner.

Loud snores echoed through the bedroom as three boys slept.
Or so each of them thought.
Two of the three were awake.
"Hey Miles.... you awake?"
Miles looked over to his dark haired friend, sitting up right on his sleeping bag. He too raised himself and asked, "Yes, is something wrong Phoenix?"
Phoenix shook his hand as he pointed towards the third boy, "I can't sleep, Larry snores too loud."
Miles realized, he couldn't sleep either because of Larry's snoring. Yes, that's it.
Miles waited for a second before answering Phoenix, "Well, when I can't sleep, Father will pour me a glass of milk and let me watch an episode of a TV show. We could try that method?"
Miles saw Phoenix's silhouette nod his head, due to the poor lighting.
Miles slipped out of his bed and was joined by Phoenix as they quietly padded through the hallways, trying their best not to wake up the sleeping Gregory Edgeworth.
The two boys reached the kitchen, Miles flicking on a small lamp. He sent Phoenix to the couch to find something to watch while he prepared two glasses of milk. He picked up the glasses and joined Phoenix on the couch. He handed Phoenix his milk and began to sip his.
"Hey Miles. I just wanted to thank you again for what you did for me a few weeks ago. I really appreciate it," Phoenix said, giving Miles a toothy smile.
"Don't mention it. It wasn't a hassle," he replied, storm grey eyes focused on the rerun of the Signal Samurai that Phoenix had chosen to watch.
"It was your money, Miles. Yet you still defended me," Phoenix rebutted then yawned, his heterochromic eyes fixed on Miles.
"Truly, I believe you, Phoenix. You aren't the type of person to commit thievery. Why was this specific event so impactful on you..." Miles began to say before feeling a weight on his right shoulder. The freckled-face boy called Phoenix had fallen asleep on Miles' shoulder. Miles felt his cheeks grow warm from the blush he knew was turning his whole face red. He took the milk from his friend's hands and placed it on the table near the end of the sofa, making sure not to wake the boy sleeping in his shoulder. He didn't realize he was staring at the boy, until he shifted against his shoulder. His face heated more due to realizing his actions.
A small smile spread around his face as he whispered, "Goodnight Phoenix."
It didn't take long for Miles to fall asleep as well, especially with his friend's warmth comforting him.

Early Morning.
Gregory Edgeworth has woken up to make sure he was on time for work. He knew his assistant Raymond was usually late, however there was some case files at the office he wanted to review before court today. As he walked down the stairs, only the lights he turned on lighting his way, he was able to make out two sleeping boys on the couch with the TV playing.
Gregory smiled softly as he flicked the TV off and laid a blanket softly over his son and his friend. He then brewed some coffee, beginning to read the morning paper. The date read November 14, 2001.
