Sahil's Pov:

" Shame on you, how can you be this irresponsible? What do you think of yourself? Even your parents didn't come to your memory? Who gave that right to you to end your life." My Gayu yelled at me. 

But I felt the marvel, she still cared for me and my parents. But I am a ruthless human to hurt this precious girl. I have no guts to look into her eyes directly after what I did, but this distance is killing me. My happy tears have their way to slip my orbs for her care for me. I heard her cries from outside but I have no strength to speak. 

"Doctor.... please..... tell her about accident " I said. 

"Calm down first. I'll tell her everything. But don't stress yourself, you need rest, " Doctor urged me.

He left after writing prescriptions for tests.  

"What Man, What happened? there, your girlfriend filling tanks? "Prashanth made fun. 

I Left a sad chuckle. 

"Sorry bro, I just tried to cheer you " 

"Hey, it's fine."

"Have you both had any serious fight? "

"Hmm, "I nodded.

"Oh, " he shrugged.

" Where is she?"

"Actually, she left after paying bill for your tests "

In mean time she entered in room. 

"You here," Prashanth astonished. 

"I...I'll leave after his parents arrive" She said not looking at me.

"Ok then, can I go? I came here on duty. But informed you after seeing him in ICU " She nodded.

"Sorry Bro, I need to go " he apologised.

"Hey, never mind. Thanks for informing about this "

"Okay, Yeah I forgot to ask. How did this happen? Do you remember that truck number or other? tell me the place At least. I will file a complaint " He said.

"No, no actually It was my mistake too. He was coming in a right way, a small kid running on the road escaping from her mom. In the process of saving her, I didn't observe around " I said.

"Sir, This is an ICU. Please all of you go out, and we have to do a few tests to patient " staff irritated after seeing all of us in ICU. 

When I came back after tests, all my parents were waiting. My sister and Chaithu arrived. But Gayu is missing here. 

Did she leave?

"Janu, don't cry, I am fine. "

"Idiot, how scared were we all yesterday? Why you did this? " she slapped my paining arm.

"Ahhh, Janu " I yelped.

"Sorry, sorry" she worried.

"Did Doctor say anything? " Chaithu quizzed.

"Reports not yet come "

"Chaithu, " I called him.

"Yeah, Do you need anything? " he asked me back.

"Is.... Gayu.... there? "I was hesitant.

"No, actually she was leaving when we are entering " He said in low.

"Hmm " I sighed.

" Why are you thinking about her?  If she cares she will be here, at least realise it now. She was not that old gayu, she changed a lot, and has no heart. "

"Janu please, don't say that " I shouted.

"You don't take strain, we will come back after speaking with doctor, Janu come " he took her with him. 

"Ammi, i am fine. Nothing happened to me. Janu went to speak doctor after check ups we will go home" I consoled mom. 

"We were so worried, " Dad became gloomy. 

"Dad, I am fine. And Sorry, I forgot my mobile in office, if I had it with me, some or other will inform you  " I said.

Meanwhile the doctor entered " ok, sahil how are you feeling now? " 

"I'm fine, but this arm was aching badly, and a little pain in ankle "

"Yes, it's an arm fracture after all, and a little sprain in your ankle, the head injury was not so deep, remaining tests were normal by God's grace nothing serious happens even in a major accident " Mom starts crying more.

"Dad, you all go home, please, " I said.

"I am not going anywhere. I'll stay here" mom said.

All laughed with silly fights. 

"Janu maa, you come With us. Then we will bring food for them in the evening. Then you can stay a little longer at night, Okay? " Aravind uncle said, she agreed to it.

Anju visited along with Prashanth and Sharada aunty. All left the hospital, mom and dad stayed back with me. But my thoughts were running behind that one person, my Gayu. 

Still my heart is not accepting the fact that she left the hospital like that.

Hmm, I have no right to expect her here in hospital or in my life, convinced myself.

A day passed like that with Salines and medicine. 

"Dad, you and Ammi go home, you were here since yesterday afternoon " 

"No, " mom said serious. 

"Ammi, I'm fine. And will discharge tomorrow. Please listen to me" I pleaded. 

" It's ok Dad, me and chaithu will stay here tonight. You and Amma go home" Janu said.

"Hmm, you both are so tired bhabi, let Janu stay here tonight "Sujatha aunty said, and dad agreed after a lot of effort.

Janu fed me food, and both of them chatted with me some more time. Usually, We four chatted and cracked jokes on one another every time, I'm missing her beside me.

"I'll come just now "  Chaithu left. 

20 minutes passed, there is no traces of him. 

"Anna, I'll go and check on him " Janu went out. 

Came back with grumpy face. 

"What happened?" I asked.

"Nothing" shrugged casual.

"Where is he? "

"Consoling the great best friend of his, " Janu said, irritated.

"Janu, please don't talk rubbish "

"And you don't need to worry about her, there is a limit to any thing even for anger and being stubborn.me and chaithu also had fights but it feels like hell to both when we are distant, but she has no such feelings. Happily roaming around and doing her business. "

" Just shut up, And don't say a word. You don't know what happened that night " I yelled.

"I don't know. Then tell me what happened that night?"

"Chaihtu didn't say anything? " I quizzed.

"No " was her answer.

That night, I revealed everything to her, Janu gasped after listening. 

"Don't say she didn't care. She worried so much, cried so much blamed herself, scared with imagining this was suicide. I am a ruthless bastard to speak such " I felt disgust myself. 

I felt a tight slap, 

" Shame on you " my sister ran out of the room crying, lost my sister's respect for me. I felt heavy.

It has been more than half an hour, I'm the only one in room. I tried to get down from bed. Stepped on the floor , it's hell pain. I stumbled with my sprained leg. Someone caught me when I was about to touch the floor.

"Are you mad? Why are you doing This? " Gayu yelling at me. 

I was beyond shocked to see her here, Supported me to stand "I need to use toilet " I said. 

"Wait, I'll call chaithu " She went out after make me sit on bed. 

Returned back with a confused face. 

"Chaithu? " I asked.

"Hmm, I...I'll help you " She took my arm curled on her shoulder, supported me to walk. 

"Ahhh "I yelped. 

"Take it slow, don't give weight to that leg. Slow steps  " she instructed.

Left me before the washroom, by saying " careful " 

I came out completing my business, she was at door to bring me back. Took me to bed, helped me to lay on bed. 

"Do you need anything? " She asked concern. 

"Hmmm, that "

"Tell me, I'll bring "she said. 

"Water "I asked finally.

"Ok " she adjusted the bed to recliner. 

Make me drink water. It felt more guilt. 

"Don't think anything. Have sleep " she said, settled on couch beside my bed.

"Janu? "

"Why you told her? She was sad. And Chaihtu consoling her " She said angrily. 

"Hmm " I sighed. 

"Hope you trust Chaithu now with your sister " she said sarcastic. 

A sad smile left from me.

" How...How are you feeling? " she started. 

" It's paining " I said.

"I'll call the nurse, she will give painkiller " She stood.

"It's paining here, " I pointed at my heart. 

She glared and turned to go? 

"Gayu.....please " I called her.

She stopped in her tracks.

"Ok ok, I won't talk about that. Please be here " She agreed. 

"Amma scolded me and threw me here to give food to you all. That's why I am here. " it's a lie.

" And helped you with humanity nothing else " she spat at me.

Again the room was silent. She looked tired and gloomy, eyes were red. Looking here and there but not me. Am I that sinful to not get even a glance from her.

Her eyelids closing abruptly. Rested on the couch, my tired potato fell asleep, not caring about her mishelved form and clothes. Her face lost that shine, there were days I sat and just to look at her sleeping form. I clicked many photos without her knowledge. My tears slipped from my eyelids. She snuggled cutely on that tiny couch, I adjusted AC with her preferred temperature. 

Slowly reached her with my single leg, covered her with a sheet, after all my Gayu was gorgeous in sleep. Reached back to bed. 

A nurse entered the room " Thank God, she was asleep. " nurse relaxed.

But I didn't understand her words" Do you know her? " I asked.

" Who wouldn't know her, sir?  There is no staff left that She was messed with from yesterday, even with doctors too " 

"What! Why? " I was astonished. 

" What why sir? For you. She was always behind us, about your Salines, injections, and at the exact time doctor prescribed not a second late or before. Even had a fight with lab staff for delay of reports and messed with one of the doctors too for not being punctual " I was on edge of tears. 

"Sir, all the staff were scared to enter now because it's half an hour late to give this injection to you. Somehow I dared. And my luck she was sleeping, otherwise she will do this hospital upside down. " Nurse filled liquid to inject me. 

"It's a sedate. You fell asleep in minutes " Nurse injected me.

"Sir, You are so lucky to have such wife. She has been here since yesterday morning, not slept or went home. She was scared and cried a lot for you " my tears came flowing. 

Nurse left room.

Lost in the sight of my Angel beside my bed. Do you care about me that much? Of course you will lie that you did that with humanity, my liar Gayu.

You are so lucky to have such wife, remembered nurse words. A small smile formed along with tears in eyes. 

 Do I have such fortune?

I want to see her some more time, but My eyelids, not supporting with injected sedation, fell asleep abrupt.

Gaythri's pov:

"Anna, can you call chaithu and Inform him? " I asked Prashanth.

He agreed and did as I asked. I completed formalities to Perform tests, paid the bill amount from money which dad added to my account. 

Irony was such, I accused him wrongly for my expenses, but now I am paying for his hospital bills. 

He is fine, there is no point me being here,

"Anna, I have to go. Can you please be here till his parents' arrival? "

"What is this Gayu? It's you supposed to be here. And you are crying, it's all because of you. What is the matter? " He enquired.

"Nothing Anna, please " I pleaded.

He agreed, and I left the hospital. But have no heart to leave.. I'll leave after his parents come.

I went back. 

"You here! "Prashanth shocked.

"I....I'll leave after his parents arrive " I said.

Prashanth enquired about accident,

Meanwhile our parents arrived. I left the room with a heavy heart. Encountered with Janu and Chaithu. She left glaring at me. 

"Where are  you going? " Chaithu stopped me. 

"I'm leaving "

"How is he? "

"Go and see " I released myself from his grip. 

Walked towards entrance. But have no heart to leave, I'll go after doctor checking his reports. returned back wiping my tears. 

I hid on another floor, I don't want to face him. it's maybe an accident but partially I'm the reason for it. 

Enquired with lab staff, these delaying hours. No one works in hospitals without getting scolded. I go with my instinct. I heard standing out of room, Doctor declared it as an arm fracture. 

I left from hospital, straight to temple. prayed to God, did pradakshina as much as I could. Settled on steps. But heart wants to see him again. Stopped myself from going there. But finally ended in hospital. All were worried, aunty and uncle were completely devastated. I entered, he was sleeping at that time. 

"Gayu maa, see " Aunty cried, hugging me. 

"Aunty, please calm down, he will be fine in a few days " I consoled. 

"Where is uncle? " I asked.

"It's been an hour since dad and uncle went for medicines,  we are asking for Salines and have injections to give but no one is responding here " Amma complained.

"I'll look into that  " I headed to ward. 

Had fight with them then they decided to come to our work. Somehow I threatened  them that I complain chief. 

I lied to Amma that I'm leaving. But hid in another floor. No staff will listen to uncle and Aunty here so I stayed in hospital. By lying to my mom and dad that I am staying with my friend tonight. Went home in early hours and returned back to hospital. 

Day passed like that, thankfully No one saw me. I'm checking without their knowledge peeking through Windows. 

But I didn't expect Janu and Chaithu staying tonight. 

I ran to balcony which is adjacent to his room. 

Breathed in dark and silence. After some time I felt a hand on my shoulder. Scared to shit. Relaxed with realisation it's chaithu. 

"What you are doing here mam?  " He crossed arms. 

"Amma sent me to give food for you all " I lied. 

"Oh, but the same aunty gave us food when we were coming here, " He said. 

I have no answer to say. Looked here and there. He lifted my chin to face him.

"You can lie to anyone but not me and you can hide from everyone but I knew you were here since yesterday morning. Well Gayu you perfectly hid behind curtains, doors, and different floors " he said everything. 

My eyes filled with tears, held myself not to burst. 

" Cry Gayu, you can't hold it anymore " he took my palm in his. 

I poured all my pain and cried my heart out on his shoulder. 

"Why are you crying? You should be happy about this accident " Janu came. 

"Janu, don't speak that, " he said.

"Oh, you are still supporting your friend, after seeing my Anna in hospital, great " she laughed sarcastic. 

"Janu, stop this nonsense! And you have no idea of that night  " He yelled. 

"Chaithu, please don't "I stopped him.

"You shouldn't speak whatever you feel without knowing the truth " he shouted. 

" Whatever it is, And why are you here? My Anna is depressed already, thankfully nothing happened to him. Let him live like this at least " she left us. 

"Sorry Gayu, so sorry on behalf of her. She was blind with love for her brother, " Chaithu apologised. 

" It's okay Chaithu, she doesn't know right? " I said. 

"And don't stop me anymore. I'm going to tell her everything." 

"No please "

" It's a promise on me " he declared.

" Please Chaithu, listen to me " I pleaded. 

" No  " he said determined. 

"At least not now, let him recover complete, then " 

"If it repeats, I'll tell her next minute itself.  I won't tolerate, if anyone says a word to my gayu, whoever that might be " He side hugged me. 

I'm overwhelmed to have such brother like friend, a tear slipped my eye. 

"Come let's eat something " He wiped my cheeks.

"Hello madam, would he recover soon if you do fast? I knew you hadn't ate since yesterday come now " he urged Me. 

"He needs someone with him " I stopped. 

"His sister is there to take care and I'll be with you "he pulled me out from hospital. 

We settled to eat at a roadside stall, and he brought dosa for me. 

"Come on " He put a piece at my lips. 

"I'll eat " I took plate from him. 

I completed my plate, 

"Let's walk for sometime  " he said.

"Did he know about your presence? " 

"No "

"Gayu, he is truly regretting " 

" What should I do then? "

" Give him a chance "

" How can you say that? " I yelled.

" I'm not saying he didn't make any mistakes, we all will do mistakes, but his love was something pure. He filled his whole heart with you Gayu. If not you he will go mad "

" Oh, but does my pain have no value?"

" Gayu, I'm not saying that. But but he deserves a chance  "

" Leave that Chaithu,if he really want to be in this relation, he hadn't asked me for moving on " 

" He asked you to move on?  "I nodded to his question.

" That was an utter joke, I can say "  He laughed.

" Chaithu, I am serious " I gritted.

" Ok, Ok then answer me, Are you moving on? "

" How can you say that? Is that easy to do? "I yelled.

"What do you want in real Gayu? You are not giving a second chance and yelling at the question of moving on itself, You have to choose one path right? either being with him or moving on from him and Why are you here since yesterday morning? Why are you crying when you don't care about him? " 

I don't have an answer for this. We reached to hospital balcony. 

" No need to answer me, Gayu. Answer your heart, it needs your answers. "

"Gayu, I'm your friend right? " I nodded. 

"Your well wisher? " 

"Yes, " I answered. 

"Forgive him, Gayu. I want you both to be together and happy again.  " He pressed my palm.

We cried hugging.

"I'm an idiot to not to see your love " She hit her forehead.

"Janu, trust me I have no bad intentions on that night. I just want to make you both comfortable with each other. I helped him for you, but I was always scared of the consequences. I want you to be happy.  And I knew you will be happy with him, the whole life. He loves you so much, " I said looking at Chaithu, who is in call. 

She collapsed in chair. 

Look down "will... he accepts me after... " Janu gulped. 

" Shhh, don't fill your mind with negativity. It is chaithu, the man of heart, my best friend, " I said. 

She smiled in happy tears. 

"Oh, sorted it out? " He stood in front of us.

"Sorry  " She mumbled again. 

"That's over now, go to him. someone needs to be with him, " I said. 

"I won't " she said in anger. 

"Janu, he needs you, this is not the time for anger " I tried to convince. 

"How can you say this? After all this shit he did to you, I won't go or talk to him. Is he human? " she cried.

"Chaithu, at least you go " I urged.

This idiot is doing it deliberately.

"Fine " I  walked out. 

When I was going out, I gave a look at his room for the last time. He got down from bed trying to walk. 

What the hell this jerk doing now?

I caught him before he fell down. 

"Are you mad? Why are you doing This? " I yelled. 

He was shocked to see me "I need to use toilet " he said. 

"Wait, I'll call chaithu " I went out after making him sit on bed. 

When I went to them, there  janu weeping and he is comforting

"Arey, Ain't you go yet" he asked after seeing me. 

" I am going But, that's not matter now. He needs to use toilet, come help him "

"Sorry mam, here my girlfriend is feeling sad, she needs me, " he said. 

"Stop this rubbish " I yelled. 

"Here my baby is weeping, I can't help it  " He shrugged. 

"Don't play games now, he is sulking there "

"Suffering is completely personal, let him suffer " He said to irritate me more. 

With no option left I ran back to him.

"Chaithu? " He asked.

"Hmm, I...I'll help you " with no option left I helped him. 

The strange fact was his racing heartbeat, it's faster than usual. It's audible to me with closeness. 

I settled here in his room, they won't come in but he needs someone. But his penetrating painful look was pricking. I'm so tired to think or process anything, I fell asleep abrupt.

I woke with a door creaking sound. Sat straight, a nurse entered to do an injection. He is sleeping sound.

"Mam, you are Gayu right? " she asked.

"It's Gayathri, yes Gayu " I said. 

"You are so lucky to have such husband mam, he is Sahil and you are Gayathri, two religions right? Can you tell me how you convinced your parents? Actually My boyfriend was Christian so can I get insights from your story? " she asked, blushing.

"Hello, wait wait first of all who said that I'm his wife? We are not any husband and wife " I said a bit loud. 

"Oh, you are still in the love phase " She  sighed to irritate me more.

"It's better to mind your business, we are not any couple or lovers we are just neighbours " I said. 

"Oh, sorry mam, I think he didn't confess his love yet " she is getting on my nerves. 

"What the hell with you mam, what's your problem? First of all, how would you know about his feelings and How would you know that my name is Gayu? " 

"Sorry mam, I don't know whether it should be revealed or not but I'm breaking the secret of  his hidden love, I'm there when someone brought him unconscious, I saw this when another nurse peeling his shirt to do first aid. There is a Tattoo on his chest with Name Gayu. That's why I am saying that you are lucky " She went out after saying. 

My heart stopped beating with the new information.
