At school that day, Vikram was taking care of Bondita exactly as he had promised.

Batuk looked irritated about Bondita being at school that morning (he also believed that she should be resting at home!), and he insisted to sit beside her, but Vikram flatly denied, saying that he had to be the one to take care of her.

"Why?" Batuk demanded to Vikram.

The teacher still hadn't come to class yet.

"Because Bondita's Pati Babu specifically told me to take care of her!" Vikram informed, "He said, not anyone else, but I have to be the one to take care of her!"

"What? Why doesn't Big D trust me?" Batuk asked, furrowing his brows. "Does he think I will let my nephew get hurt or what?"

Bondita was watching their banter with a sigh, not even able to sit down because the two of them were in the way.

"I'm sure he trusts you Batuk," Bondita said softly, "Now can you move so I can sit?"

"Then how come he said Vikram has to be the one to make sure you're okay?" Batuk asked, feeling extremely offended by this lack of faith!

He wanted to be Super Chachu, but nobody believed that he could be super!

"Vikram's more responsible ji," Mallika's voice said from the desk behind, where she had already sat down.

Batuk flipped his head around to glare at her.

After yesterday's conversation, where he found out about her menstruation being the reason behind her going missing last year, Batuk's extremely shocked face didn't let him stay there for a single moment longer!

He just stammered he had to go, and ran away from there.

Mallika was still unhappy because her issues with Batuk were still not resolved, since he hadn't even acknowledged why he couldn't share his secrets with her!

"I've also witnessed three pregnancies Batuk," Vikram said, before Batuk could snap at Mallika -- he was well aware that Mallika insulted Batuk quite a lot, and Batuk took offense and reacted quite rudely back to her. He didn't want this to happen right now.

"Fine, whatever," Batuk said, not even sure how to react to that since it was a valid point, "But I witnessed Sampoorna Maa's pregnancy too!"

"You were too focused on romance novels, than on Sampoorna Maa's pregnancy," Bondita piped in lightly.

Batuk looked at Bondita now, a pout appearing on his lips, getting offended all over again!

"As if you are so innocent! You stayed away from all that, and that's why you got pregnant right Boudi?" Batuk asked her.

Bondita should have just rolled her eyes at his remark, but instead, his words seared through her festered wounds, and reignited that guilt within her. The problem was that she hadn't been innocent, after all.

Batuk went and sat down with Surabhi, one desk behind Mallika, a grumpy look on his face.

Bondita was about to take her seat, when Vikram pulled the chair out for her so that she didn't have to move it herself. This caused a riot of laughter amongst the boys in the room -- minus Batuk, who was sitting next to Surabhi with a sour expression on his face.

"Look at Vikram, moving the chair for Bondita!" Sharad, one of their classmates was chuckling to the boys. "Bipin was right about him, he behaves like he's her dog!"

The boys all started laughing.

Vikram didn't pay them any heed, and even Bondita didn't care. The boys were on good terms with them most of the time, but when they did something out of character, they always made remarks acting like they were 'men' so they were superior to everyone else, and too cool for these things.

Batuk glared at the boys from his seat, irritated.

"SHE'S --" he started, about to yell that she was pregnant, but Surabhi grabbed his arm.

"Don't tell them," Surabhi whispered to him.

"Oh yeah," Batuk mumbled under his breath. It was supposed to be a secret. For the first trimester anyways.

Surabhi stood up instead, and glared at the boys, storming towards them and folding her arms across her chest.

Sharad and the boys around him all gulped, when this beautiful girl in their batch stormed up to them like this. Surabhi had never given them this attention before.

"Dumbasses, do you think that you're such men? One smack with my shoe and you'll go running to your mommies," Surabhi snapped at them.

Sharad looked at her, fear in his eyes now.

Batuk was watching Surabhi with a turned on expression.

Mallika turned in her seat to look at Batuk, frowning at his face, and asked, "Is this why she's your girlfriend ji?"

Batuk who was watching Surabhi with a grin, turned to look at Mallika and said, "Huh... I dunno."

It was like her interrogation session started again! Why did she always question him of all people?!

Vikram whispered to Bondita, "It seems like you aren't the only one who can set people straight anymore."

Bondita grinned and she said, "Surabhi always had that skill. That's how we exposed Bipin."

"Oh yes," Vikram said with a smile. "You two proved to him and everyone else that they shouldn't underestimate the skills that a woman possesses!"

Those memories were such fond ones for them, as it had really thickened their friendship with Surabhi.

Surabhi hissed at the boys, "If you say a word against Bondita or any of my friends, then I'll make sure that this won't be a threat next time. My shoe will really meet your face!"

Then she stormed back to her seat, where Batuk looked at her with dreamy eyes.

"You're so hot when you scream at them," Batuk whispered to her.

Surabhi turned to look at him and asked, "Do you want to be next?"

Batuk nodded first, then shook his head quickly.

"No thank you, I just want to get your love," Batuk told her flirtatiously.

Surabhi blushed and she whispered, "After school, maybe."

Mallika couldn't hear them fully, but she could hear the tone of their flirty words, and she suddenly wanted to cover her ears! For some reason, this was hurting quite a lot!

--

Vikram dropped Bondita back home after school that day, and Trilochan was in the hall, pacing back and forth, not happy about the way that she had gone to school.

He needed to convince her that she shouldn't go from now on.

"Oh Bikram, good that you brought Bahu safely," Kaka said and dismissed the boy, as he went to his Bahu.

Bondita looked up at her Kakasasurji.

"Bahu, I can't say this in front of Anirudh... so I probably shouldn't say it to Bikram too..."

Vikram nodded and said, "No problem Bondita's Kakasasurji! I understand you have your personal family things to talk about! I will go!"

He wanted to go and meet Mishti again, so he left from there!

"Yes Kakasasurji? Did you wish to speak to me?" Bondita asked respectfully.

"I don't know why Anirudh is having such moodswings. One day he doesn't want to send you to school and the next he is sending you! But he doesn't know what he's doing! It's his first time being a father, so he knows nothing. You will only do as I say," Kaka told her.

Bondita looked at him, her eyebrows furrowing slightly, as this conversation took a turn that she herself couldn't agree to.

"Kakasasurji, I respect your experience... but... I am being very careful --"

"No Bahu! This time, none of your tarks will work! You must go to Anirudh and tell him you don't want to go to school!"

"Kakasasurji, forgive me... I can't listen to this..." Bondita said immediately, feeling heavy in her heart to flat out deny him, but it was something that she had to do.

An angry look reached Kaka's eyes, as Bondita continued, "You... trust me right?"

"Bahu you have no experience!" Kaka argued. "How can I trust you about this?"

Sampoorna had been walking by at that time, and Kaka turned towards her and said, "Sampoorna Bahu, tell her that she can't go to school at this time! Maybe she will listen to you, as you are her Didi."

Kaka huffed, recalling how weird this family's relations had become due to Sampoorna!

A furious look appeared on Sampoorna's face as she demanded, "Anirudh is pressuring you, isn't he Bondita?"

Bondita looked at Sampoorna, confused.

"No, Sampoorna Didi. Pati Babu isn't pressuring me... I took this decision on my own," Bondita told her.

Sampoorna drew a long breath and she went towards Bondita, grabbing her arm tightly.

"Look Bondita. Now you are pregnant. You have to focus on one thing and one thing alone. That is motherhood," Sampoorna told her firmly.

Kaka gave a firm nod, out of agreement.

Bondita looked at Sampoorna Maa and then Kaka, telling both of them just as firmly now, "I don't want to mislead you... and I don't mean to disrespect either of you. Please understand that I'm not doing that... but I cannot sacrifice the dreams that Pati Babu has, just because I got pregnant. I will do my best to focus on both motherhood and studies."

Sampoorna glared at Bondita, knowing that this was Anirudh's influence! If he hadn't pressured Bondita and put nonsense in her mind for all these years, then she wouldn't be speaking like this. She wasn't against Bondita becoming a barrister, but if that was the case, Anirudh should have kept his distance! Her sister shouldn't have gotten pregnant!

It was at this moment, that Manika walked in through the front door after meeting Pratul.

Vikram had gone upstairs to look for her, not knowing that she had left the house.

"Jethji, Bondita is stubborn. She isn't in a state of mind to listen to us. Let her get changed and we will talk to her," Sampoorna informed Trilochan.

Bondita furrowed her brows at her Sampoorna Didi and said, "No need Didi! I won't change my mind! I will go to school... but Kakasasurji, I promise that you don't have to worry. Nothing will happen to me. Shotti. Trust me, please."

Kaka just looked at his Bahu, a worried expression on his face. He had finally gotten the miracle that he prayed for... how could he just endanger it so easily? The possibility of losing the baby... that was scaring him.

"Bondita, go and change. And tie your saree high up, not low," Sampoorna informed her, "If you tie it low, then the baby will be pushed up into your chest!"

"Huh?" Bondita asked, eyes wide, shocked by this. How was that even possible

Manika was watching this scene, shaking her head slowly, and she sarcastically huffed under her breath, "Then the blouse should be tied tightly too, then the baby will come out of the mouth, right? What an easy delivery! Actually that would be best, then in your pregnancy, at least your mouth could have stayed shut Sampoorna."

"And also if your baby bump is low, then you will have a boy," Kaka added on. "So tying the saree high up, will push your belly lower to give this haveli a vaaris."

Bondita furrowed her eyebrows now at both of them.

She had barely processed her own pregnancy because she was so focused on her Pati Babu, and both Sampoorna Didi and her Kakasasurji were saying such nonsensical things to her!

She glared at Sampoorna Didi and said, "Is that why you tied your saree so high up during your pregnancy Sampoorna Didi? To give the haveli a boy?"

Sampoorna looked flustered when Bondita said this, not expecting her to relate it to her own pregnancy!

"Well... I..." she mumbled.

"You still had a girl so clearly it didn't work... and there's nothing wrong with that! Sashwati is the best niece I could have asked for..." Bondita went on, "So can we not worry about these things?"

Kaka just looked at his Bahu and sighed, "You don't understand Bahu! Whether you have a boy or a girl, of course we will love them both. But the chance of you having another child after this... well, I am not expecting anything, since this one itself is a miracle! So it has to be a boy this time!"

Manika shook her head, not liking the way that the two of them were pressuring Bondita. If Anirudh saw this, he would have screamed his lungs out right now. He would throw a fit, and things would go flying everywhere.

He wouldn't be able to tolerate this... and what her best friend couldn't tolerate, neither could she.

So Manika went over to Bondita and placed her hand on Bondita's shoulder gently.

"I've had a baby recently too. I can surely guide Bondita," Manika informed the two people in front of her.

Sampoorna looked at Manika with annoyance, and Manika glared back at her.

Manika hissed at Sampoorna, "You don't need to tell Bondita about how her baby can go up into her chest if she ties her saree low, because that doesn't make any sense! Tying a saree tightly cannot move your baby higher or lower. It cannot be that powerful to impact where your baby grows... and you shouldn't interfere with the baby's natural growth anyways."

Kaka felt a little uncomfortable that an outsider was trying to advise his Bahu over him and Sampoorna, but he didn't say anything to Manika. He kept his distance from the lady, and still wasn't particularly fond of Anirudh bringing her home.

"Manika, you --" Sampoorna started.

"Bondita, let's go. I'll help you with your saree," Manika said to her, before Sampoorna could finish.

Bondita nodded and followed her Manika Didi upstairs, feeling very sad to have to disappoint her Kakasasurji, but also extremely disturbed by this conversation.

She didn't think that the impact of this conversation would leave her mind anytime soon. It had really startled her. She loved her family a lot... but to hear these views from them... it somehow hurt her.

"How do we make Bahu understand what's good for her?" Kaka wailed to Sampoorna after she left.

"She's stubborn," Sampoorna informed, "If she says she will go to school, nothing will stop her, except Anirudh."

"But Anirudh is equally stubborn! He won't stop her from going to school!" Kaka wailed. "My grandchild! If something happens to my grandchild, I'll die, Sampoorna Bahu!"

"Don't say that Jethji. I'll talk to Anirudh again," Sampoorna said, "I don't know if he'll listen to me... but if I can have a little bit of influence on him to get Bondita to tone down her attitude... then that will be for the best."

"Good. You try Sampoorna Bahu, because it's out of my hands!"

Precap: Anirudh is in the study, replying to some letters. He stumbles upon a letter titled: For Pati Babu

"Bondita wrote me a letter?" Anirudh gasps, and he opens the letter, finally reading it.

Vikram finds out about the reason that Manika stayed away from him for all this time... the reason was Batuk. How will he react?
