--

Anirudh walked into the room, drained... exhausted.

He had spent the day in his study, thinking, worrying, wondering about what happened to Bondita. After Manika left, he had crumbled back into his sorrows.

Anirudh even had his dinner in the study, so that he wouldn't have to scare her anymore. She was running away from him. For some reason, she was afraid of telling him something. And the reason was certainly him

He came to the room late, expecting Bondita to be sleeping, or if she was studying then she would most likely be in Batuk's room.

Even though he didn't mind Bondita studying in their room at night, she was often worried that she disturbed his sleep, and would either take her textbooks to Batuk's room, if he was awake, or to the study room while Anirudh slept.

He would tell her it was fine, just stay in the room, but Bondita refused to disturb his sleep, claiming that there was no reason to, since the haveli was so big. She would easily find a place to study.

Bondita was at her desk though, already in her red nightie.

His eyes lingered on her for a moment, and he said, "Sorry, I didn't want to disturb you... I'll go back to the study."

Bondita felt a pang in her chest when he behaved so formal with her.

"I've finished studying. You can sleep," she said softly, holding the letter with her shaking hands.

Anirudh nodded, and he went to the bathroom, closing the door behind him.

When he did this, she felt another ache in her chest. The bathroom door had remained open between them for long now, at least slightly ajar. He hadn't closed it like this in a long time.

Bondita slid the envelope containing the letter inside her textbook. She would put it on his desk tomorrow, when she knew he would read it.

Inside the bathroom, Anirudh grabbed on to the sink, taking deep breaths. He was holding back sobs again. Ever since Bondita's silence, he had been broken. Completely shattered.

She told him to give her until tomorrow, so he was. However, he couldn't help but feel like somehow there were barriers being built between them. Walls and layers, which he thought that they had crossed a long time ago.

Step by step, with love, he and Bondita had united, had crossed every layer that acted like a wall between them. But now? She couldn't even talk to him.

And this hurt.

This hurt him so much.

He took a deep breath, trying to compose himself, but the tears kept on falling uncontrollably. He couldn't stop the pain that built in his heart.

The reason he closed the door, wasn't to show her that he was upset. It was so that she wouldn't see his tears or pain. If she did, then perhaps she would be more broken. He didn't know what she was going through, but he knew there was something... something that was scaring her and hurting her. And his presence scared her more... he didn't want his tears to scare her too and push her further in her shell.

After he somehow managed to compose himself, he washed his face, brushed his teeth, and left the bathroom. He saw that Bondita was already in bed, sleeping in her red nightgown.

Anirudh had changed into a maroon silk pyjama set. He got into his side of the bed -- he slept on the right side of the bed, but if one were to look at it from the other side, it would be the left side.

Bondita's back was turned to his side, and Anirudh glanced at her for a moment, worry on his features.

What could she be enduring? Manika had told him she was enduring something, she was protecting him. But what was she protecting him from?

He leaned closer to her, and noticed that she was sweating.

"Bondita..." he murmured, his voice heavy with emotion.

Bondita turned around to look at him.

"Are you hot?" he asked her.

Bondita nodded, not sure why she felt hot all of a sudden. Was this also a pregnancy symptom?

"Be comfortable," he told her softly.

She nodded, understanding what he was saying. They spent so much time without their clothes in bed, that if she was hot, she didn't have to wear her nightwear.

Sitting up on the bed, she removed her clothing from her body, and used a hair elastic to tie her long, thick hair into a bun, so that her back would feel cooler too.

Anirudh also removed his clothes, in case his clothing would make Bondita hot too.

Bondita rested on the bed, turning her back to him again, as Anirudh glanced at her, a longing gaze in his eyes. He wanted to desperately erase this overbearing distance between them.

He scooted close to her on the bed, his heart full of emotion.

Anirudh didn't know why Bondita was afraid to tell him what the problem was. Maybe he didn't make her feel like he loved her enough. Maybe he yelled at her too much. Maybe she felt like his love was lacking.

No, his love wasn't lacking.

He would show her this. He wouldn't let her feel like she was alone.

Anirudh moved right beside Bondita and wrapped his arm around her from behind, surprising her.

She closed her eyes, trying to feel the moment fully, her insides feeling warm with happiness when she felt his loving touch on her body.

He was emotional, but he managed to say softly into her ear, "We established that... love is in its own place, and fights are in its own place."

Bondita couldn't help the slight quiver of her lips as she smiled, tears filling her eyes, as his warm hand caressed the front of her body.

They were fighting over her reading romance novels when they established this rule.

Anirudh had slept in the study all night, and then the next morning, when they had their morning hug, they had a heated make out session in the hallway.

This was when they had stated that making love had no correlations with their fights. They were two separate things... that love and lovemaking should not be impacted just because they were fighting.

That was also the time that they had traumatized Somnath... he had caught them in a not so innocent state.

Anirudh's hand found her chest, brushing against it lovingly, caressing her breasts one by one, gently rubbing her nipples in the process. Bondita felt like his touch gave her relief. Her breasts had been feeling heavy and sensitive for a while now, and whenever he touched them, she just felt so good.

His lips softly caressed her ear and he murmured, in a heavy, emotional tone, like he meant it more than anything in this Universe, "I love you Bondita."

Tears rolled down her cheeks, and she whispered back emotionally, meaning it over everything else too, "I love you t - too Pati Babu."

His hand moved down from her breasts, to her stomach, feeling the curvature just at the bottom of it with his finger.

Bondita shivered when he did this, loving the way he was touching her belly.

He kissed her cheek from behind, his own eyes getting wet.

What did he do to cause a distance between him and his Bondita? This thought just kept on haunting him.

Bondita's hand found his, and she pressed it on her stomach gently, tears falling down her cheeks.

As she held his hand against her stomach, Anirudh began to plant soft kisses on the side of her jaw and cheek, his lips trailing down to her neck.

Bondita let out a sob, and she turned around, facing him. Anirudh didn't waste a moment to kiss her lips, capturing them in a needing kiss.

Both of them had tears streaming down their cheeks as they kissed. Both of them were filled with grief and need. Need for each other. Desire for each other

Except one of them knew a secret, and the other one still was unaware.

Bondita wondered, as he kissed her with love, whether he would shower her with this kind of love after knowing the truth too. Would he kiss her like this? Love her like this? Would he hold her lovingly in his arms and give her these sweet moments?

The idea was terrifying, and she immediately began to shiver against him again.

Anirudh held her firmly in his arms, as he kissed her harder, distracting her from her fears. And Bondita relaxed slightly, remembering that this was her Pati Babu. His touch was closer to her than her own touch

Like this, they made love that night. There were tears, and mostly silence. A distance that they hadn't overcome... yet, a love that was burning through it all. A desire and a need for each other that didn't fade in the weight of their silence.

Now, all that remained to be seen was whether this revelation would change these equations between them.

He had made Bondita feel so loved. As if he wasn't even a little bit disappointed in her. However, Bondita knew. She could feel his emotions. He was already feeling guilty, and he didn't even know the truth yet.

Anirudh fell asleep, hugging her from behind, his hand falling to her waist, gently caressing her waistline as he fell into a slumber.

At some point, his hand fell to her belly, and Bondita who was still awake, couldn't help but smile, holding his hand there firmly, and not letting it move anywhere else for the whole night.

I don't know what your B - Baba will decide, but this love that I felt from him, I want you to feel it too... she thought, holding his hand on her belly, feeling warm inside. It was like he was showering his love on their unborn child.

In his sleep, he snuggled further against her and held her belly more firmly on his own, as if somewhere he knew of the universe in there. The universe that needed his protection, just like his Bondita did.

The universe that he and Bondita had created themselves.

--

The next morning, when Bondita woke up, she saw that her Pati Babu was sitting on the bed beside her. He was stroking her hair lovingly, already dressed up in his day clothes.

She looked up into his eyes, a smile appearing on her lips. She always loved it when he was the first thing she saw as soon as she opened her eyes in the mornings.

Bondita sat up on the bed, the blanket falling down to her waist, revealing her top portion to him.

He just looked at her with a small smile, before hugging her, pressing his nose into her hair for their morning hug.

Bondita hugged him back, melting against him.

He pulled her even closer, onto his lap, so that he could hug her more intimately, more closely. And Bondita closed her eyes, as he stroked her back on his lap, reaching to her messily tied bun now and getting rid of the elastic.

"I have to go out for a case," he said to her softly, "I don't know if you have something to say to me... you said to give you a day..."

Bondita gulped, feeling fearful again, and she pulled back slightly, looking at him nervously.

"I'm not saying... you have to say anything right now," he told her, not wanting to undo all the progress he had made since last night, where he had yearned to show her how much he loved her. He didn't want her to block all of those pure emotions out again. "You can tell me later too."

Bondita nodded.

If he finished his work for the day, then he would have time to process the letter too.

Anirudh kissed her forehead, and then gently pecked her lips, before untangling her from his lap and standing up.

"I'll get going then," he said to her, trying to contain the emotions inside of him, "But... if you need me, I'll be at the court. You can ask the driver to bring you. I'm always available for you Bondita. Even if I'm in the middle of work."

Bondita nodded again, her heart melting and aching at the same time.

After Anirudh left, Bondita took a deep breath and got up to get ready for the day. She had to study as well today. Vikram had helped her quite a bit last night, but she had to do it on her own today... then maybe she could prove that she had learned from the last failure, by asking her Pati Babu to quiz her.

--

On the way back from work that afternoon, Anirudh noticed a strange sight.

In an alley close to their home, there was a grey jeep, and behind the jeep was Chandrachur. He had his eyes on the haveli, as if he was watching it.

Anirudh parked his car beside the alley, and got out, slowly walking over to Chandrachur. A wrinkle appeared on his forehead, a stern look on his features, as he approached the tall man.

"Chandrachur..." Anirudh said, from behind him, causing Chandrachur to jump with a start.

A smile crept on his lips as he processed who it was, and he said, "Barrister Babu. Nomoshkaar."

Anirudh's eyes narrowed, as he looked up at him.

The other day, he was talking to Bondita, and now he was watching their haveli. Why?

"What are you doing here?" Anirudh asked suspiciously.

Chandrachur eyed Anirudh Roy Choudhary, as he contemplated his next move.

Bondita had decided against the abortion, and she probably hadn't even told this Barrister Babu! Otherwise, she wouldn't have said that she would discuss it with him.

What kind of a man would even want to abort their own lineage? He was certain that Barrister Babu wouldn't.

However, if he informed him of the truth... then surely, hearing that his beloved wife was hiding things from him, could cause a distance between the fitoori and crazy couple.

"Are you here to meet someone Chandrachur?" Anirudh asked sternly.

Chandrachur smiled slyly and he said, "Barrister Babu... I'm only here to make sure Bondita doesn't do anything bad."

Anirudh's eyebrows furrowed when he heard this, and he suddenly felt a tight knot in his chest.

"Who are you to decide whether my Bondita does anything bad?" Anirudh asked him darkly.

"Sorry Barrister Babu, you must not know. She told me she didn't tell you," Chandrachur said with a heavy sigh, sounding like he was sympathetic. "I understand the pain of loving a disloyal woman!"

After all, he loved her too! His whole one year tapasya revolved around her! And she betrayed him!

"Chandrachur," Anirudh hissed, "If you say one more word against Bondita, there will be nobody worse than me."

How dare he call his Bondita disloyal? The idea that this man was speaking such things about his wife was making his blood boil with anger!

Another fake sympathetic look appeared on Chandrachur's face and he said, "You really don't know... about... her pregnancy? About the fact that she tried to abort your baby?"

The colour drained from Anirudh's face.

'Rishta Toota Tera... Rishta Toota Tera..." Chandrachur sung with a sly smirk in his mind.
