Chandrachur's face was pale.
Bondita was going to become a mother?!
After all that tapasya that he did for her, after abstaining from sexual relations for her, after staring at her picture every day and dreaming many dreams to attain her, she did this?
Then what did his tapasya amount to if she was carrying that Anirudh Roy Choudhary's baby!
Argh, this humiliation, this betrayal was too much for him to handle!
But what could he do? He loved her, and he wasn't willing to let go of her, even if she had that devil in her womb!
He was still going to attain her by hook or by crook!
"Jamai Babu," Thakumaa said, frowning, wondering what Chandrachur was doing outside her medical room.
"Thakumaa, I came to look for you," Chandrachur lied. "You called me and Tupur here."
Bondita didn't even look up at him, and walked forward, stepping on his foot accidentally in the process -- she hadn't even registered that he was there.
"ARGH!" Chandrachur screamed, and hopped on his foot, glaring at Bondita.
Bondita didn't register that either and walked straight ahead.
As she left him alone, not sparing him a single glance, Chandrachur wondered whether he should be upset with the pain, or relieved that she didn't taunt him and call him brother today.
I did so much for you Bondita, and this is how you repay me? You go and get pregnant with that Anirudh Roy Choudhary's baby? What more do I have to do to attain you?
On top of that, she had caused him an injury yet again!
--
Outside, Tupur slowly followed Batuk to the fields behind the haveli.
Their meeting spot once upon a time.
Nostalgia filled both of them as they reached the familiar tree that they used to always sit by, and suddenly all the memories flashed in front of their eyes.
The hugging, the kissing, the learning, he would teach her how to read and write here.
Also that one night...
Flashback:
It had been late, because he was delivering hot rice packs to Bondita. She was in the menstruation hut, and his Dada was sneaking in there for the night. He wanted to make sure they were okay, before meeting Tupur.
When he finally arrived, she looked upset.
"You're late!" she said, frowning.
"I was getting hot rice packs for Boudi," Batuk explained, and Tupur frowned even more.
Once again, he had chosen Bondita over her.
Tupur just made a disappointed face and Batuk said, "But I'm here now, Tupur!"
He wrapped his arms around her and hugged her tightly, pressing his nose to her hair, brushing his lips over it too.
"You were asking earlier about why Roopa and Boudi made sounds of a dying animal..." Batuk murmured, "I'll show you tonight that they weren't trying to kill each other, but rather, they were loving each other."
Tupur was utterly confused by this statement.
Batuk pulled back and cupped her face, closing the gap between their mouths and kissing her lips.
She allowed him to do so, and he deepened the kiss, his tongue uniting with hers in an intimate way.
Batuk's hands moved down her back, to her bare lower back, and he began to feel her curves.
Tupur gasped, and broke the kiss.
"What are you doing?" she asked.
"Showing you..." Batuk said in a deep voice, clearly turned on to another level.
"What are you showing me?" Tupur asked, "You're touching me more than usual."
"Well to show you," Batuk answered, "I have to touch you, and undress you."
Tupur's face turned red and she said, "That's not right! A lady is supposed to be covered!"
Batuk frowned.
"That's dumb," he just huffed, "Why does a lady have to be so covered?"
"To protect her purity and chastity! Maa and Thakumaa always says!" Tupur said.
"I think it's supposed to be the girl's choice what she wears," Batuk just said, shrugging his shoulders -- those were the lessons he was imparted with anyways from his Dada. "But, I'll explain it to you since you're worried."
He explained to her what sex was, and Tupur looked at him with her face as red as a tomato.
"That's so shameless!" she gasped.
"It's not!" Batuk denied, frowning.
"How can a man and a woman see each other without clothes! So wrong!" Tupur went on.
Batuk couldn't help but smile. After explaining the whole process, she was worried about the nudity aspect the most!
"Why is it wrong? It's supposed to be loving," Batuk responded, "If you want, we can try it."
Tupur looked at him with shock.
"Just like we kiss, we hug, and people would see it as wrong... but is it really wrong?" Batuk asked, "We love each other right?"
Tupur looked at him nervously, and she nodded.
He cupped her cheeks in his hands and said, "And I want to spend my whole life with you Tupur!"
A smile reached her lips and she said, "Me too."
Then she hugged him tightly, and Batuk held her in his arms for a few moments.
After that, she looked up at his lips and murmured, "Okay, let's try it."
Batuk's eyes widened, and his excitement was extreme.
"Are... you sure?" he asked breathlessly.
"I want to know what is so fascinating about it, that your Dada and Bondita were making those dying animal sounds," Tupur stated, "But no animals will be killed right?"
Batuk laughed so loud when he heard this and he said, "No Tupur, no animals will be killed. But you might kill me."
Her eyes widened with shock but before she could even say anything, he had smashed his lips on hers, kissing her hungrily.
Soon his hands moved to parts of her body that he had never touched before, and their clothes came off.
Tupur was nervous, extremely afraid as Batuk's lips moved across her body. She was self-conscious, and there were tears in her eyes.
She was lying on the cold grass, and Batuk's face was between her legs, gaining immense pleasure from seeing and tasting these parts of a woman firsthand, but as soon as he heard her sobs, he grew alarmed and looked up at her.
He went up her body and hugged her, holding her naked body to his, and rubbing her back.
"We... can stop," he said with difficulty, "I don't want to hurt you Tupur."
She just cried against him, clutching onto him and she asked, "Y - you won't leave me right?"
Batuk pulled back slightly and looked into her eyes sincerely, "No. Never. I'll never leave you. I will always be here with you. I won't go anywhere."
Tupur looked at him with fear, but also love.
He kissed her lips gently and she nodded, giving him her approval again.
When he entered her, it was painful and she shrieked in pain, and it was really, really hard for him to control his impulses, because she just felt so good to him.
"It - it hurts a lot?" Batuk asked.
She was sniffling, crying again.
"I'll... stop..." he said with great difficulty.
"N - no, it's o - okay," she just said, "Let's finish it, now that we started."
Batuk nodded, and started to thrust inside of her, gripping her wrists tightly. He was in such a state of bliss, that his hands had squeezed the bangles on her wrists with pressure, causing them to break on the grass.
Finally, when they were done, Tupur sobbed again, and he just hugged her.
"Did we do something wrong?" she cried.
"No, it wasn't wrong," Batuk told her reassuringly. "It was just a symbol of our love."
Tupur sniffled again, against him.
"You didn't like it, did you?" he asked sadly. "I didn't want you to hate it Tupur."
She just held him and said, "The grass was cold... it was painful... it wasn't like how you described it to me... it didn't feel good at all."
Batuk felt guilty, and he said, "We should have waited for longer then. Maybe... that was the problem... or maybe because for girls the first time isn't so nice. Or... I just couldn't give you the pleasure."
But how could he give her the pleasure, when she herself didn't know what she liked? He was sure that Tupur had never explored her own body before. How could she tell him what she liked, if she had no idea?
How was she to enjoy this when she was so disassociated with the whole idea of pleasure?
Tupur cuddled against his bare chest and she said, "But it made me feel closer to you."
"But I hurt you..." Batuk just mumbled.
"It's okay," she said.
"I'll try to make it better for you next time," Batuk told her softly.
She got off his chest, shivering, and she reached for her clothes, to put them back on.
"I have to go," she said.
Batuk nodded, and the two of them got dressed again, not realizing that there probably would be no next time.
--
Batuk's eyes fell on the ground, where small pieces of glass bangles were still there.
Tupur followed his gaze to the floor, and her heart felt heavy, as she saw that -- a symbol of what was once their love.
"Does he treat you well?" Batuk asked, looking up at her and distracting his mind from those memories.
Tupur looked at him, her heart aching, and she just said, "It's fine."
He could sense that there was something wrong.
"He hurts you, doesn't he?" Batuk asked, sounding pained.
"No..." Tupur said.
"Tupur, you can be honest with me," Batuk urged.
"Why does it matter now Batuk?" she asked, "We haven't seen each other in a year."
Batuk reached to touch her shoulder, but stopped his hand midway. Instead he rested the palm of his hand against the trunk of the tree.
"It does matter. Please tell me, Tupur," Batuk urged.
Tears entered Tupur's eyes and she just said, "He doesn't consider me his wife."
"What?" Batuk asked, furrowing his eyebrows, not expecting that.
"He doesn't touch me," Tupur confessed, "He doesn't love me. He doesn't want me."
Batuk blinked a couple of times, not knowing how he should feel about this.
"And you?" he asked her. "Do you want that?"
Tupur just said, "I want my marriage to work. I want to have a good life and I want to be a good wife."
Batuk's heart twisted when he heard this and he had a thought as he glanced at her.
The thought that this look of being a married woman didn't suit her. For some reason, not right now, and definitely not with that Chandrachur.
What boggled his mind the most was what kind of man didn't even touch his wife? That took a special kind of skill.
"Does he talk to you?" Batuk asked softly.
She shook her head.
"No."
Batuk wondered what was wrong with this man. He didn't know whether he should feel relieved that the man at least wasn't using her for his sexual pleasure, or whether he should feel sad that Tupur must be so lonely.
"Do you feel lonely?" Batuk questioned.
A sad smile appeared on Tupur's face, and she confessed, "All the time. I am alone in that house."
Then her smile fell and she just looked at Batuk, almost with a look of longing.
Batuk noticed her expression and his heartrate shot up, his throat feeling dry.
"Tupur..." he said softly, glancing at her, "Do you... remember us?"
Tears filled Tupur's eyes and she nodded.
"Me too..." Batuk confessed. "I remember you too."
Tupur didn't know what to feel, but the fact that she was still remembered by Batuk did make her feel something nice.
Bondita had told her a few weeks ago that Batuk still had a soft corner for her, but hearing it from Batuk's own mouth made her feel wanted and loved.
But what use was it now?
Batuk's heart ached and he said, "Even if things had to end between us, I wish it didn't end in this way Tupur. Not because you were forced to marry someone else."
Tears poured down Tupur's cheeks when he said this, and Batuk's heart hurt. He reached to wipe her tears away.
When his fingers brushed her cheeks, she was reminded of all the times he touched her, just like this.
There were times where she felt like Batuk didn't prioritize her, even times where she felt like Batuk didn't even care about her, but something about his gentle touch right now, made her think that maybe there was something... true, between them.
"You shouldn't cry," he told her with a small smile now, "Let me tell you something... your husband Chandrachur is... stupid."
"Why?" she asked, furrowing her brows slightly.
"Because he doesn't realize he has such a beautiful woman in front of him," Batuk said lightly.
Tupur couldn't help but smile when Batuk said that.
"He's a fool that he isn't giving you any attention," Batuk told her, shaking his head slightly. "The dumbass doesn't realize what is right in front of him."
It was probably wrong, but she couldn't help but laugh when Batuk called him dumbass.
"Gadha," Batuk said, rolling his eyes.
Tupur started to laugh even harder now, and Batuk smiled, seeing her smile and laughter finally reach her eyes.
"Stupid idiot," Batuk continued, causing Tupur to laugh even more. "Bloody rascal."
"Stop Batuk!" she said, dying of laughter, "If you continue then I'll go to hell for laughing at such insulting things about my husband."
"Hell? Please," Batuk scoffed, "You're in heaven right now, and you're thinking of hell?"
Tupur's laughter died and she looked at Batuk with admiration, a smile on her lips.
She was indeed in heaven.
--
Thakumaa tried to take Bondita back to the room, but Bondita had already made it to the front door.
"Where's Batuk?" Bondita finally asked, looking around.
"I don't know, but come back inside Bondita, right now," Thakumaa insisted, "You have to know that you aren't in the right frame of mind to make any decisions or go alone. I'll send someone back with you, but --"
"No Thakumaa," Bondita replied, like she was in a state of shock, "I have to go to school tomorrow, so I need to go home and make preparations. I need to study. I need to study very hard. I d - don't have time."
Chandrachur had followed them and he was frowning, still in a state of absolute shock over this news.
It didn't seem like Bondita was even happy with her pregnancy news.
Good. That's a good sign, he thought.
When Batuk walked back inside with Tupur, the two of them were glowing. Tupur's face had a new brightness on it.
Rimjhim noticed them walk in together, and she nearly had a heart attack!
"Kill me if I'm lying, but my daughter has gotten out of hand," Rimjhim gasped, and went straight to Tupur, pulling her away from Batuk before Thakumaa noticed and figured out about her connection to Batuk, with her hawk eyes.
Batuk gave Tupur a friendly smile, and Tupur smiled back at him, her heart fluttering. Batuk also looked like he had a great time, his own face shining with happiness.
Rimjhim noticed this exchange and her heart was filled with yet another attack! How could she survive such disgraceful acts by her daughter?!
"Oh Boudi..." Batuk said, and went to find Bondita.
"Bondita, abortions are not the right thing to do," Thakumaa urged, "Only when the mother's life is in danger, we consider this."
She had medication that could induce a miscarriage, but that medication had horrible side effects, and could impact Bondita's body in a negative way. It was perhaps safer than what anyone else would try to do with her if Bondita went elsewhere, but Thakumaa was determined to stop her granddaughter from doing such a thing to herself.
"Why Thakumaa? If the parents aren't ready to be parents, if the child itself will grow in a home where they feel unwanted... and m - might be treated as someone who came as a curse in their parents lives, then isn't it better f - for that soul to find a better home? To find a home that is more suited for them? To find parents who will treat them better?" Bondita questioned.
She took a deep breath and somehow, through her shock, managed to say, "I don't know what's right or wrong. But Thakumaa, my child cannot be the bearer of my pains... my Pati Babu cannot suffer. I know if this child comes then both... Pati Babu and the baby will suffer. Even if Pati Babu puts his pain aside for my sake and the baby's sake, it'll still affect him deep down. And I don't want this baby to ever feel that they are obstacle... I want them to have a better home. I want this soul to find its birth in the womb of a mother who can provide for them much better than me."
"Bondita... as a Vaid I've seen many situations, and in some situations, we have to abort if we want to save the mother's life. There have been families who have said they'd rather the mother die than to abort the baby... and the mother's have died as a result," Thakumaa confessed, "I'm not thinking for the sake of the fetus in your womb. I'm thinking about you Bondita. Although you having a baby and accepting it whole-heartedly will make me the happiest, that's not why I'm telling you this. Your health can suffer serious complications Bondita."
Bondita couldn't tell what was right and wrong... or if there was even such a thing. Her Pati Babu had always taught her that there were many perspectives to things. That one person's right, might be another person's wrong. Without full information about anything, based on mere assumptions, one could not form a judgement, about what was correct and incorrect.
She needed guidance, but she didn't know where to go to get it.
"I won't... abort... but I'm going home," Bondita just said.
She had to leave, without scaring Thakumaa. Without allowing her to inform her family.
"Okay," Thakumaa said with a sigh, "But don't make any rash decisions."
"I won't Thakumaa," Bondita said, a suppressed pain in her chest, "I will think about it... and I'll call you tomorrow. Don't worry."
Thakumaa nodded.
That was when Batuk arrived, and he glanced at Chandrachur, who was staring at Bondita and Thakumaa, with wide eyes like he had seen some ghost.
He looked like he had just faced the biggest shock of his life!
An irritated glare was shot at Chandrachur, and Batuk rolled his eyes, walking past him and going to his Boudi.
"Is everything okay Boudi?"
Bondita nodded, turning to look at Batuk and she forced a smile.
"Let's go Batuk."
Thakumaa looked at Batuk and said, "Take care of her... make sure that you get home safe. Or I'll arrange someone --"
"No need Thakumaa," Bondita said, and then placed her hand on Batuk's arm, practically pulling him out.
"But eat something, at least meet Sumati," Thakumaa started, but Bondita had already pulled Batuk out.
She didn't want to be reminded of motherhood. She couldn't even meet her mom right now. She was in no state of mind to see anyone anymore.
"What's wrong Boudi?" Batuk asked with a frown, as he got in the passenger seat and Bondita got in the driver's side.
"Nothing," Bondita lied, "I'm fine. I got new medication."
Batuk just nodded, as Bondita started to drive, her whole insides shivering as she recalled what happened inside.
"Is Thakumaa going to call Kaka?" Batuk asked.
"I don't think so," Bondita said.
"Then we're in big trouble!" Batuk groaned.
Bondita wasn't worried about that. She had other things on her mind... other things that were gnawing at her heart and insides. She was still processing everything, she was still trying to think clearly... but she didn't know how to get this clarity.
"Boudi watch out!" Batuk urged, as the car nearly went off the road. "What's wrong Boudi? You don't seem like you're okay."
Bondita steered the car back to the middle of the lane and took a deep breath, pressing on the brakes and parking the car.
"You drive," she said, "I don't feel well."
She couldn't endanger Batuk's life like this, just because she was mentally shattered.
"Why don't you feel well?" Batuk pressed on, although he was finally happy he got to drive.
"I'm just feeling tired," she said, and got out of the car, as Batuk got to the driver's side.
She read the directions after she sat in the passenger's side, and somehow managed to guide Batuk all the way home.
--
Once they got home, Trilochan was waiting for them.
Kalindi had called him, and she had sounded quite worried. She informed him that Bondita and Batuk had gone to Krishnanagar, and to call her as soon as they came back to Tulsipur.
"There you are!" Trilochan said, furrowing his brows and storming to the two of them. "You went all the way to Krishnanagar by yourselves, and you didn't even inform me! I would have come along too! On top of that you didn't even take the driver! That was irresponsible!"
He had been wanting to go there, but nobody was taking him! They were all going on their own! And going all by himself, would be too strange a thing to do!
"Sorry Kakasasurji," Bondita mumbled, and then she walked ahead, like a zombie.
"I'll call Kalindi Ji and tell her that you got home safely, she was worried about you," Trilochan called out after her.
"She called you?" Bondita asked, stopping in her tracks, and turning to look at her Kakasasurji.
"Of course," Kaka said, "She was very worried!"
"What else did she say?" Bondita asked.
"Nothing," Kaka said with a frown, "Was there something else Bahu?"
"No," Bondita said lifelessly, not meeting his gaze now, "I'll go upstairs."
That was when the phone started to ring, and Trilochan went to answer.
"Hello?"
"Kaka, it's me," Anirudh said into the phone, "I have some good news. I'll come back in two days."
Two more days he would have to be away from his Bondita, and then they could finally unite.
"Oh Anirudh, you called," Kaka said with a sigh. "Only you can explain to Bahu. She can't just take the car and go to Krishnanagar on her own will like this, without informing us!"
"She did what?" Anirudh gasped.
"Her and Batuk drove themselves to Krishnanagar on their own!" Kaka said, shaking his head.
He didn't like the idea of his Bahu driving, but what was more alarming was where she had decided to go practically by herself!
"WHAT? DROVE? BY THEMSELVES? TO KRISHNANAGAR?" Anirudh yelled, and Kaka had to pull the phone away slightly from his ear as he winced at the volume. "GIVE HER THE PHONE KAKA!"
Trilochan looked at his Bahu who was ascending the staircase, and he called out, "Bahu come here! Anirudh wants to speak to you."
Bondita turned around to look at her Kakasasurji with lifeless eyes.
"Me?" she asked, unable to process it.
"No Bahu, your ghost. Of course you!"
Trilochan wondered why this was so surprising. Anirudh anyways wanted to talk to her all the time.
His Bahu was behaving very strangely!
Bondita descended the staircase again and took the phone from her Kakasasurji. She turned to look at him, as she placed the receiver on her ear.
"H - hello?" she said into the receiver, as she glanced at Kakasasurji.
Trilochan gulped, knowing he should give them space.
"Kaka," Batuk said, and grabbed his arm gently, "You should go from here."
"Why Batuk?" Kaka snapped.
"Trust me, it's good for your health if you stay away from their conversations," Batuk said, "Your mind might get traumatized!"
"Huh?" Kaka asked, utterly bewildered.
"Kaka, you will go and live in the Ganges forever if you hear their talks," Batuk just said lightly.
Kaka wondered what kind of talks could make him want to live in the Ganges forever!
Regardless, he listened to his nephew and walked away from there.
Batuk followed as well, because he wanted to save his ears at least this time!
"BONDITA, WHY DID YOU TAKE THE CAR AND GO TO KRISHNANAGAR?" Anirudh screamed, "DIDN'T I TELL YOU THAT YOU CAN'T DRIVE LONG DISTANCES?"
Bondita listened to his words, and squeezed her eyes shut, tears pooling in her eyes and rolling down her cheeks.
Suddenly she broke down... all the shock, and the lifelessness left her, as she finally began to process and understand that she was pregnant. It was starting to hit her.
As always, only he had the key to unlock different phases of her. Hearing his voice, even if it was his yells, had finally shaken her out of her shock, and made her process properly that she was expecting. That she was pregnant. That there was a fetus growing inside her that could one day be a baby.
She had processed it slightly at Thakumaa's out of fear and her tears there were an instant reaction -- it sounded like theory, and hard to believe until now, but she was suddenly starting to realize that it was truly there.
"Sorry Pati Babu..." Bondita sobbed, breaking down over the phone. "I'm so sorry... I'm so so so so so sorry."
His loving screams finally gave her the realization of the baby in her womb, and she sobbed uncontrollably.
Her guide, her Guru, the one who transcended through every state of existence with her had finally shifted her to another state; one of deep, deep pain and truth.
A painful truth.
"Bondita, what's wrong?" Anirudh asked, his voice aching now, as he heard her sobs, "Why are you crying like this?"
I'm crying because I've let you down Pati Babu.
I'm crying because I've always insisted that we could have sexual relations, and I didn't listen to you.
I'm crying because our passion for each other turned into the sword that could lead to you living like a dead body.
What am I not crying about Pati Babu?
Instead, she said through her tears, "N - nothing is wrong Pati Babu. I'm just crying because I miss you."
Jhoot bolu jeebh sulge
Aisi meri majboori,
Apni khushboo jo chupaye
Main hu wohi kastoori,
Tere mere beech mei hai
Ek hi parde ki doori,
Tu jo chahe woh saaza de
Kuch bhi na main kahungi,
Saathiya bhagwan tu hai mera
Rishta tera mera, rishta tera mera
Rishta tera mera, rishta tera meraaa

I hope you enjoyed this chapter.
I made the chapter very long, because I know how excited you are to see how Anirudh's reaction is. I won't make you wait too long (hence the quick updates and longer chapters), but there are a few things that need to be done first.
What did you think of the Tupur/Batuk scene?
A lot of my readers requested for a flashback of the night, so I finally included it here. It contains a very important lesson... realistic sex. 😛 It's not always fireworks and passion. This is why getting to know yourself, your own body, and what pleases you is very important... that is the way you will be able to communicate with your partner about it too.
There is another important lesson in this chapter as well, and I do have a plan to explore it more in an upcoming chapter -- the lesson about someone's wrong might be someone else's right. It's not all black and white. There are always grey shades... and there is a bigger picture, more than we can see. Again, there will be clarity in an upcoming chapter about this.
What did you think of the RTM?
Would you like the next part soon?
I'm eagerly looking forward for your comments and press star!
Love you all! ❤️
