272 - The Day He Left Her

I'm planning to go on a weekend spree party as I stated on my profile, but there's a condition.

Only if I see a good response (as in you shower your comments and votes), will I post the next part. The last chapter hasn't received even 400 votes yet, but I posted this part because it received 400+ comments.

If you can maintain the momentum through comments at least, I'll keep posting more for you. If both votes and comments are lacking, then I won't be continuing this spree.

SO ARE YOU READY FOR THE SPREE PARTY? 🥳😈

Vote on all the pending parts if you haven't yet... this story is still in danger territory where it can face an axe anytime soon, and this danger can only be removed if you vote on the parts and show that the overall reader base isn't dropping so much. In other words, every chapter should get 450+ stars

Now that basic housekeeping is over, this is a long chapter, but I tried to make it a fun one for you all! I hope you enjoy it!

AGAIN, VOTE AND COMMENT! 🥺

"Pati Babu, I've packed all your underwear! There's none left!" Bondita yelled into the bathroom, where the shower was running.

The door to the bathroom was open, and the sounds from the shower were loud.

"Why did you pack all my underwear Bondita?" Anirudh called out. "I'm only going for a few weeks, not forever! And I'm sure there are laundry services!"

Bondita glanced at Anirudh's closed trunk, where she had packed for him. She had neatly folded and organized all the clothing that she felt he would need.

"Wait, I'll open your trunk and pick a fresh underwear for you!" she called out, and started to unlock the suitcase.

After she pulled out a comfortable looking underwear, she placed it on the bed, and then went inside the bathroom. Through the see-through glass shower wall, she saw Anirudh rubbing soap on his body.

A small smile reached her lips as she remembered that morning...

She had woken up earlier than him. Before he woke up, she wanted to double check that she packed everything, make him coffee and breakfast as well.

However, as soon as she got out of bed, he had grabbed her arm and pulled her back down, trapping her body underneath his on the bed, and pressing his lips on hers wildly.

"Mmmm," he moaned as he tasted her mouth.

Bondita blushed and squirmed underneath him, but his hold on her was too strong. He wasn't letting her go. They were both still naked from the previous night.

"Pati Babu, I'll be back after I make you coffee," she managed to say breathlessly.

"You are my morning coffee, my sweet coffee," he said against her mouth, and deepened the kiss, his hands moving between her legs and rubbing her quickly against her soft spot.

"Let me love you one last time Bondita..." Anirudh said, kissing her cheeks now, one by one.

One last time.

"We... we will just be on... a break... it's not the last time..." Bondita moaned as he rubbed her folds rapidly.

"It'll be some time," he responded as he softly kissed her ear, sweetly torturing her with his fingers.

"Pati Babuuu," she moaned against his lips, in a begging way -- this felt really good, but it was torture as well.

Anirudh brought his hand up and caressed her cheek, sucking on her lips, running his tongue across them, and feeling her, tasting her for one final time before he had to leave.

He didn't waste anymore time, and he pushed himself inside her, making love to her passionately that morning, all the while showering her with kisses all over.

How he would miss his precious Bondita so much.

Back in the present, as Bondita leaned against the glass shower wall, Anirudh looked at his wife from inside. She had her head pressed against it, almost like she was leaning on him.

He chuckled, and finished shampooing his hair, rinsing it underneath the warm water.

"Bondita, if you look so adorable, how can I go?" he asked from inside, as the water poured over him.

Bondita just smiled silently, resting against the glass wall and closing her eyes. For as long as her Pati Babu was here, she didn't want to leave his side, until some urgent work beckoned her to go.

--

Downstairs, Batuk was yawning heavily.

His Dada was going today, so he had to wake up early to say goodbye.

However, it was too early! It was hardly five in the morning!

He had found a spot on the living room floor, and pressed his face against the carpet, closing his eyes and falling asleep immediately.

Trilochan was sitting on the sofa, drinking his morning cup of tea, while Sampoorna was in the kitchen, making food so that Anirudh could take it on his journey.

Bondita had come down for a brief time that morning, but Sampoorna had already been in the kitchen, assuring her that Bondita could spend time with her Pati Babu and she would handle breakfast and food for Anirudh's journey herself.

"Batuk, why're you on the ground like a puppy? Come and sit on the sofa," Trilochan ordered, but Batuk started snoring, falling into a deep sleep.

"Shiv Shiv Shiv," Trilochan muttered after Batuk ignored him, sipping his tea and shaking his head. "Sleeping on the floor like that."

Binoy came into the living room with Sashwati, who looked quite wide awake. Binoy placed the one year old on the ground, and she immediately waddled over to Batuk's sleeping figure, giggling as she saw him.

She could walk in a clumsy way now, but couldn't form words just yet.

Binoy sat on the sofa next to Trilochan and started to talk to him, as Sashwati who had a fountain pony on the top of her hair, fell onto Batuk's back and climbed over it.

"Shttooopp," Batuk moaned in his sleep.

Sashwati crawled up Batuk's back and pulled on Batuk's hair, making Batuk squint in his sleep.

"What are you doinggggggggggg..." Batuk complained. "Boudi let me sleeeeeeeeep!"

Binoy looked at Batuk and chuckled, while Kaka just muttered, "Shiv Shiv Shiv, is this a way to talk about his Boudi?"

Sashwati pulled on his hair even harder, smiling widely, as if she was enjoying this.

"GER - OFF - ME!" Batuk finally screamed, and sat up with a start, nearly throwing Sashwati off him with the motion.

Sashwati slid down his back and landed with a thud on her soft bottom, which was cushioned with her cloth diaper.

Then she started to cry uncontrollably.

Batuk turned around, rubbing his eyes, and saw that it was Sashwati.

"Oye Sashu, you!" Batuk groaned.

Sashwati's lips were quivering and Trilochan was about to get up to hold her, when Binoy held his Da's wrist to stop him.

"Watch this," Binoy said.

"Watch what?" Kaka asked with a frown.

As Sashwati continued to cry heavily, she looked up at Binoy and Trilochan, puckering her lips cutely and holding her arms up as if she wanted to be picked up.

Kaka's heart melted and he was about to go pick her up, but Binoy squeezed Kaka's wrist again. Trilochan turned to glare at his brother.

"She's crying Binoy," Trilochan said.

"Just wait," Binoy said.

Batuk sighed heavily as Sashwati sobbed, and he immediately said, "Okay, sorry Sashu."

Sashwati turned to glare at him, her lips still quivering.

Batuk reached over to her and patted her hair gently, about to pick her up, when Bondita came into the study, grabbing a crying Sashwati off the floor and hugging her, kissing her forehead.

Binoy huffed.

"Bahu ruined it," he said to Trilochan.

"Ruined it? Sashwati was crying," Trilochan said, "What do you mean ruined it?"

"Batuk would have comforted her," Binoy just said. "If Bahu didn't come at the wrong moment! The siblings would have bonded."

Bondita had come down to make sure Sampoorna had prepared everything on time, and to extend a hand in case she needed help.

However, upon hearing Sashwati's cries, she had made a turn for the living room instead.

Sashwati stopped crying and looked at Bondita with her wet eyes.

"It's okay Sashu," Bondita cooed at the baby, rocking her in her arms.

Batuk rubbed his hair, where it was still slightly paining from where Sashwati pulled it earlier. She hadn't been gentle.

Then Sashwati smiled and kissed Bondita's cheek, causing a frown to reach Batuk's lips.

"She pulls my hair and kisses you Boudi!" Batuk groaned. "This is partiality!"

Bondita giggled and she asked Sashwati, putting on a stern face, "Did you pull your Dada's hair?"

Sashwati looked at Bondita with her cute big eyes, and then she turned to look at Batuk, extending her arms so that Batuk could hold her.

Batuk reluctantly took Sashwati's small body in his arms.

Sashwati reached to his nose and pinched it, making him groan again.

Then, with a grin, Sashwati leaned towards him and kissed his nose, making Batuk's heart melt.

"So it seems like she kisses you too," Bondita said lightly.

Trilochan smiled as he watched the scene in front of him and Binoy sighed.

"I told you, their bond is special," Binoy said, "Batuk and Sashwati's."

"Bahu's too... her bond is special with everyone," Trilochan said, admiration in his eyes.

Binoy pushed his glasses up the bridge of his nose and was about to reply, when Vikram came in the living room. He had also come early to see Anirudh off.

"Bikram has arrived," Trilochan pointed out.

Vikram greeted everyone and then walked over to Bondita, watching as Batuk was kissing Sashwati's nose now.

"What's with him? Since when did he show so much affection?" Vikram murmured to Bondita.

"Since Surabhi," Bondita whispered back.

Batuk had told his two best friends about his relationship with Surabhi. In fact, it was what caused the fiery jwalamukhi in Bondita to calm down, after she had been so angry with him all those months ago.

She hadn't been speaking to Batuk for weeks, until Batuk finally told her that he and Surabhi were in a relationship. The shock made her forget her disappointment, and she immediately wanted to know about their story.

Bondita had forgiven both Surabhi and Batuk over what happened after this, and now the three of them were back to normal.

Vikram chuckled and asked, "Where's your Pati Babu?"

"Getting dressed," Bondita said, and then smacked her forehead, "Ohho, that reminds me of what I came here for! I'll be back!"

"Where's Somnath? Why isn't he downstairs yet?" Trilochan demanded to Binoy after Bondita left.

"Where else? In his room, probably studying," Binoy said, rolling his eyes.

"Aren't you worried about him? He should be getting married, but he barely looks up from his books!"

"His final exams are near Da, let him finish those, and then he'll probably change. Either way, I've always maintained, out of my three sons, Batuk is the only normal one," Binoy said.

"Normal?" Kaka huffed. "He sleeps on the floor!"

"That's normal! Otherwise Anirudh is too fitoori, and Somnath too studious. Extremists. Batuk, though..." Binoy said with a smile, "He knows how to live."

"Batuk is also an extremist Binoy," Trilochan huffed. "He's just good at hiding it."

Vikram overheard this conversation and he muttered under his breath, "Not just the sons, but the entire Roy Choudharys are extremists."

"Did you say something Bikram?" Trilochan asked.

"No Bondita's Kakasasurji! I didn't!" Vikram said with a sweet smile.

After checking on things in the kitchen, Bondita came back to the living room. Batuk was still playing with Sashwati, and Vikram was standing there, waiting.

She went over to Vikram and said, "Pati Babu should be here soon. I'll go and check on him --"

Before she could finish what she was saying, Manika Didi had descended down the stairs, wearing a plain and simple saree. She had no sindoor, no shakha pola, or alta anymore.

Her divorce had been finalized by the courts, and she was now no longer considered a married woman.

Vikram looked up at her, a glint appearing in his eyes.

Manika noticed Vikram's gaze, and a slight blush crept up her cheeks.

She disappeared into the study, to check and make sure that Anirudh wouldn't leave anything behind that he needed.

In the last five months, she had learned to read and write completely. She struggled with bigger words, and writing bigger paragraphs and essays, but she could get by now.

Vikram was still coming once a week, helping her improve her skills.

As soon as she got a good grasp on the language, Anirudh had immediately given her the work of organizing his files and books in the study.

Bondita used to do this, but Anirudh had promoted her after all.

As the months went by, Manika took on more of a load, by scheduling appointments for Anirudh and helping to organize his day.

Anirudh would give her a fair salary, and she used it to buy yarn and knitting materials, so that in her free time she could knit and make clothing for women and children in need.

Bondita noticed Vikram's gaze as it followed Manika until she disappeared.

"Is everything okay?" she asked him softly.

"Yes Bondita," Vikram said with a grin.

"I've noticed that you don't speak to Manika Didi as much these days," Bondita pointed out.

Batuk's eyes shifted, and his grip on Sashwati tightened with guilt.

"Well, she only wants to speak about studies, so I only talk to her when I go to teach her," Vikram said, "I don't ask her about her personal life and we don't talk about anything more than that... anymore."

Bondita frowned slightly and she asked, "Really? Why is that?"

Batuk gulped, feeling a sweat emerge on his forehead.

"I don't know, but it's her wish so I respect it," Vikram just said.

"I - I told you didn't I Vikram?" Batuk asked nervously, "That you shouldn't get so attached! Maybe she realized that she was being overly friendly with you!"

Bondita glared at Batuk, and Batuk cowered, focusing his attention on Sashwati again.

"Vikram, I'll speak to her," Bondita said reassuringly.

Batuk looked up again with a frown.

"Why Boudi?" he questioned. "Don't you always say we should respect other's wishes? Why would you pressure Manika Didi or force her?"

Bondita answered, "I'm not pressuring or forcing her! It's just a little strange. I'll ask her if everything is okay, that's all. If she doesn't want to talk about it, then I won't push it. And Batuk, I've told you before too, don't worry about Vikram and Manika Didi!"

Batuk breathed sharply and was about to respond when Sashwati lightly slapped his cheek, making Batuk turn to look at her instead.

"You're slapping your Dada?" Batuk asked with a pout.

Sashwati giggled and started to play with his nose again, trying to poke at it.

"Vikram, I'll go upstairs and check on Pati Babu. I'll speak to Manika Didi after he leaves," Bondita told him.

"You don't have to speak to her," Vikram said with a sigh, "Batuk's right, I don't want her to feel any pressure."

Bondita was about to hold his shoulder reassuringly but remembered her Kakasasurji and Sasurji were here and they probably wouldn't be happy about her touching Vikram, so she just said instead, "Trust me Vikram. I won't make anyone feel any pressure."

Then she bolted up the stairs to make sure her Pati Babu was okay.

--

After checking everything in their bedroom, and making sure it was all ready, Anirudh wrapped his arms around Bondita's waist and hugged her to him lovingly.

Bondita melted in his embrace.

"I won't be able to say bye to you properly downstairs," he told her softly, "So we will say bye here."

"Why not?" she teased, looking up at him.

He smiled and pressed a kiss to her lips, making her blush.

"This is not appropriate downstairs, is it?" he asked.

Bondita kissed him again, this time harder, sliding her tongue inside his mouth too.

"This is definitely not appropriate," she teased back, after breaking the kiss.

Anirudh looked at her with a glitter in his eyes, and he murmured, "I might not be able to control downstairs."

"You'll traumatize everyone," she whispered.

Anirudh chuckled and kissed her cheek, pulling her into his arms again, not wanting to leave her for a moment.

--

When they finally went downstairs, Anirudh was holding Bondita's hand, and Bondita was leaning close to him, her other hand clasped over their joined hands as well.

As soon as Bihari saw them, he went upstairs to collect Anirudh's luggage.

Anirudh entered the living room with Bondita, and Bondita gently pressed her mouth against the top of his bicep, her heart sinking because he would have to leave.

Somnath was here by now, and even Sampoorna had come with many packed containers of food.

Batuk was still holding Sashwati, and he suddenly pushed her into Somnath's arms, making Somnath nearly jump.

"Hold her," Batuk said, and Somnath frowned, as he held his baby sister.

Batuk jumped over to his Dada, and grabbed Anirudh's other arm -- the one that Bondita wasn't holding.

"YOU'RE LEAVING!" Batuk screamed dramatically.

Anirudh furrowed his brows, wondering why Batuk was creating a scene.

Bondita peered above Anirudh's arm and looked at Batuk.

"Noooo don't go... I'll cry, I'll die," Batuk said dramatically. "My life long love! My jeene ki vajah! My sansaar!

"Batuk what are you --" Anirudh started.

"Boudi! That's how she's behaving!" Batuk just said, and let go of Anirudh's arm. "I was only imitating her!"

Bondita's nose flared and she let go of Anirudh.

"BATUK YOU --" she started, and stepped towards him angrily, raising her hand to shove him lightly, and Batuk just gave her a lopsided grin.

"Shiv Shiv Shiv," Kaka said, seeing their drama.

Vikram just chuckled. He was used to this.

Anirudh couldn't help but smile too, seeing their sweet fight.

"Hey, both of you, behave," he warned, and grabbed Bondita's arm, pulling her back to him. "And you, come here."

Anirudh wrapped his arm around Bondita's back, holding her close.

Batuk looked at his Dada with a genuine frown now.

"Why should only Boudi come there? How about me?" Batuk asked with a pout. "Won't you miss me too?"

Anirudh laughed and used his other hand to pull Batuk close too, wrapping his other hand around Batuk's body, holding him just as close as Bondita, causing him to gasp.

"You come here too then," he teased, hugging both Bondita and Batuk with his two arms.

Bondita giggled, as Batuk's eyes widened.

"Oh my God Dada, I'm not interested in this closeness! I agree I found Roopa hot -- uhh I mean pretty but --" he realized he had trapped himself with his words.

"SHIV SHIV SHIV!" Kaka bellowed, stomping his cane on the ground.

Binoy chuckled on the side, finding this drama quite entertaining.

Vikram's cheeks turned red out of second hand embarrassment, and Bondita just glared at Batuk.

"Don't set eyes on my Pati Babu!" she huffed. "He's all mine!"

Somnath rolled his eyes, as Sashwati watched the drama with keen interest.

Sampoorna was just smiling watching the interaction.

"Yes Bahu, your Pati Babu is all yours, and Batuk, you behave otherwise I'm going to pull your ear and get you married as soon as you turn eighteen," Kaka warned.

Batuk looked at Kaka, and gulped.

Upon hearing the commotion, Manika came into the living room as well, realizing that Anirudh had arrived. She avoided Vikram's gaze, and watched what was going on as well.

Batuk leaned close to Bondita and whispered, "I was talking about Roopa, not your Pati Babu." He said Pati Babu in a mocking tone.

"Roopa's all mine too Batuk!" Bondita huffed, "Whether Pati Babu is a male or a female, or both, he's mine, mine, and all mine!"

Anirudh blushed, and Batuk just rolled his eyes.

"So you won't even share him with his younger brother? How heartless! And what if you have kids, wouldn't you share him with them? You would keep a father away from his children?" Batuk questioned dramatically.

Bondita blushed and she said, "Batuk don't talk about such things!"

Kaka had a heartbroken expression on his face upon hearing about Bondita and Anirudh's children and he just said, "Yes Batuk, don't talk about things that will only make you sad!"

"Sad?" Batuk questioned, but Bondita responded first.

"Batuk, I am my Pati Babu's first baby, and I know that no matter what my Pati Babu will treat me like that forever!"

"Yes just be his baby," Kaka muttered under his breath.

Anirudh sighed heavily, hearing this baby talk.

"Then what was I? His first adult? I was also a baby!" Batuk said with a pout, and furrowed his eyebrows.

"You're right Batuk, you were a baby, and Anirudh used to sleep with you," Binoy pointed out.

"HE DID?" Batuk gasped.

"He wouldn't go to sleep unless we brought you to him. But you were only two years old when he went to London," Binoy said. "I heard from the maiden there, that Anirudh would give them trouble by staying up at night because he missed the feeling of his younger brother in his arms."

Batuk's eyes widened so much that his eyebrows reached his hairline.

Even Bondita's eyes were wide when she heard this.

"No wonder!" Bondita gasped.

Anirudh looked embarrassed, and he just glanced at Bondita.

"No wonder what?" Anirudh asked her, a light blush on his cheeks.

"No wonder you loved holding me and sleeping!" Bondita said, "I must have reminded you of how you used to hug Batuk!"

Batuk didn't know whether he should feel proud or embarrassed! He had finally beat his Boudi in one thing -- Dada held him first, even before her!

Kaka grumbled underneath his breath, "Right, hold Bahu like you hold your brother!"

"B - Bondita," Anirudh stammered, a blush on his cheeks.

"Then why were you so worried about crushing Sashwati when she slept with us?" Bondita wondered.

"That's because, Sashwati was smaller," Anirudh finally said, and glanced at Batuk with a small smile, "And it had been years since I slept with a literal baby."

"This is such a huge plot twist," Batuk just groaned.

Bondita nodded, her eyes wide.

"You held Batuk before me!" she gasped.

"He held me first," Batuk said in a teasing tone, "Before you Boudi! I'm his first baby, you were wrong!"

Anirudh wrapped his arms around Bondita, placing her head on his shoulder before she could respond and argue back, as he glanced at everyone else.

"Alright, enough everyone, I will be late if we continue this," he said with a chuckle.

"Anirudh, you won't eat breakfast here, right?" Sampoorna asked.

"I'll eat on the way Sampoorna Maa. I'm already very late," he informed.

"I knew it," Sampoorna said, "That's why I packed it for you already, along with more food for the journey and for later."

Anirudh smiled and glanced at Somnath, all the while, still holding Bondita in his arms, not letting her escape.

"Study hard for your final exams Som," Anirudh said, "And then take a break. You deserve it."

"Yeah Dada, okay."

"Go out, on vacation," Anirudh suggested, "You should travel and get some experience."

"I'll think about that after my exams," Som said.

"I'll go with you Som Dada!" Batuk offered with a grin.

"Batuk, you have to stay here and study hard with your Boudi!" Anirudh warned, looking at him sternly, "This is your final year --"

Batuk groaned loudly.

"I know Dada, please don't repeat the same lectures!"

Anirudh frowned, and Vikram said, "Bondita's Pati Babu, you can always lecture me! I love hearing the reminders, and it is a huge motivation."

Manika couldn't help but smile when she heard Vikram, but she composed herself quickly.

Anirudh smiled at Vikram too for a split second, before turning to Manika.

Bondita had her head buried in Anirudh's chest, inhaling his scent and clinging to him like a child clung to her mother.

"Even though I won't be here Manika, continue what you're doing for those who are in need. You can access my study at any time, read whatever you like," Anirudh told her with a smile. "And write letters to me. I would love it if you did that. It will make me very proud to see your progress."

Then he turned to Vikram, rubbing Bondita's back affectionately.

"You have taught Manika so much, and I'm very proud of you Vikram. You also study hard, and be there for Bondita and Batuk...." he glanced at Manika and said softly, "Manika too. Be there for her as well. I won't be here, so you can help her if she needs you."

"Bondita is here for her too," Vikram pointed out, but he grinned, "Although I will always help her if she's in need! And Bondita and Batuk, and anyone else in this Roy Choudhary family too! I will help everyone who needs it!"

Anirudh laughed and he finally let go of Bondita. He squeezed Vikram's shoulder reassuringly and looked in his eyes, giving him a look of assurance -- like everything would be okay.

"You'll get everything you wish for," he said like a blessing, "I'm sure of it."

Manika blushed when she heard this.

Then he went to Kaka and his Baba and said, "I'll call you when I get there Baba, Kaka."

"Yes, go and enjoy too," Binoy said, "In Calcutta, there are many things to enjoy -- the food, the sights, the wom --"

Trilochan pressed his cane into Binoy's feet before he could say women. Binoy nearly jumped from the pain!

"Don't be a fool Binoy," he hissed, "Otherwise I'll book a personal ticket straight into the waters of Ganga for you."

Anirudh just shook his head and went to Sampoorna Maa.

"I'll definitely enjoy the food you made for me Sampoorna Maa," he told her, and she smiled at him, touching his cheek.

Anirudh's heart warmed when she touched his cheek in a loving way.

"May you be successful in everything you set out to do," she blessed.

Anirudh turned to Somnath and Sashwati. Sashwati was playing with ear, scratching at it, and Som looked frustrated.

Anirudh squeezed Som's shoulder, before taking Sashwati from his arms, and kissing her forehead.

"I'll miss you Sashwati," he said to her softly.

Sashwati's attention immediately went to the shiny brooch on his waistcoat, and Anirudh chuckled. That was her favourite thing about him.

He just caressed her hair, which had the fountain ponytail, and he kissed the top of it again.

"Give your Dada a kiss Sashwati!" Bondita ordered.

"Bondita it's ok --" Anirudh started, but Sashwati listened to Bondita and pressed her lips onto his cheek, giving him a wet kiss, and then flinching in his arms, and making a loud sound of irritation, because his stubble grazed her lips.

Anirudh chuckled and said, "Seems like I have to shave properly to get you to kiss me."

Sampoorna took Sashwati from him and he went to Bihari and Koeli, bidding them farewell as well, before he started to head towards the door.

Bondita rushed over to him and grabbed his hand.

"Call me Pati Babu," she said.

"I will," he told her, and stopped, touching her cheek lovingly. "Everyday."

Bondita threw her arms around him, hugging him again and not getting enough.

Anirudh hugged her back, caressing her back lovingly.

Finally, when he broke the embrace, he cupped her cheeks and kissed her forehead one final time, and gave everyone a farewell look before leaving.

Little did Bondita know, that when Anirudh returned, she wouldn't be the same Bondita that he left her as.
