"We meet again... Bondita."

A year ago, Chandrachur and Tupur got married, at the mandap which was set up for Bondita and Chandrachur. Bondita hadn't seen them since.

As the pair came inside and sat down, Rimjhim Kaki came running inside with a bowl of water to wash Chandrachur's feet with.

Bondita completely ignored Chandrachur and her eyes landed on Tupur, who was looking down nervously, sitting next to Chandrachur.

"There's no need for this Maa," Chandrachur said to Rimjhim, "I've told you many times."

Rimjhim smiled, looking proud, and said, "You are great Jamai Babu. Let me make you tea."

She took the bowl of water back inside and Chandrachur's eyes landed on Bondita again, another smiling creeping up his lips.

"Tupur, how are you?" Bondita asked softly, ignoring Chandrachur's looks.

Tupur looked up at Bondita with a certain expression that Bondita couldn't quite pinpoint -- was it irritation, jealousy, or hatred? She couldn't tell. But she wasn't happy.

"I'm fine Bondita," Tupur just said firmly.

"You tell us Bondita," Chandrachur said, his eyes moving down Bondita's body, "How are you? Did you come here alone?"

Bondita smiled overly sweetly and said, "My Pati Babu never leaves me alone for me to be alone!"

Chandrachur gulped. He had forgotten just how crazy these two lovebirds were.

Bondita stood up and went straight up to Tupur, who was still seated on the couch. Tupur looked up at Bondita, alarmed.

"Come on Tupur, let's go and have a sisters only conversation," she said.

Then she glanced at Chandrachur with a sly smile. "No need to bother my brother in it," she added.

Chandrachur nearly choked on his own spit when he heard this. It had been a year, and Bondita still hadn't dropped this brother nonsense?

Tupur looked anxious, but she got up and followed Bondita to an empty bedroom.

"Now tell me honestly," Bondita said firmly, closing the door behind them, "Does Jamai Babu treat you well?"

Tupur took a deep breath and asked, "Bondita why do you care now? It's been a year."

"I do care!" Bondita answered, "Why won't I care about you?"

"You only remembered because you saw my face today! Otherwise you probably didn't care if I was alive or dead in this last year! I got married to him, instead of you, so at least leave me alone now," Tupur said, almost like she was begging.

"Tupur I have thought about you constantly, and I kept on getting updates from Thakumaa about you, but your haveli doesn't have a phone! How was I supposed to keep in touch?" Bondita asked. "Thakumaa said that you're happy, that you're glowing, but are you really happy? I want to hear from you!"

"What will you do if I'm not?" Tupur demanded. "Why are you asking questions that you have no solutions for!"

"Maybe there is a solution! Maybe we can figure it out --"

"There's no solution Bondita. I married him... the man who..." Tupur took a deep breath and said, "Nevermind, I married him, and now I'm happy. You are anyways, the first choice for everyone. So you should just live with it, and stop meddling in my life!"

The man who only wanted you... Tupur thought, but couldn't say.

How could she even speak about the pain that she went through everyday knowing that Chandrachur had only wanted Bondita? That her husband had never even indulged in sexual relations with her in the last year, because he wanted to save himself for her own sister!

How was she supposed to go into how heartbreaking it was to see the lusty way with which Chandrachur would stare at Bondita's photo at night, and put it underneath his pillow and sleep?

He had gotten the photo from Thakumaa last summer when Thakumaa was arranging Bondita's and Chandrachur's marriage.

Tupur slept next to him on the bed, but it was only a formality. His cold behaviour hit straight into her heart.

Her Maa would tell her to seduce him. To trap him with desire. But no matter how she tried -- no matter what she did, whether that was going to him with wet hairs after a shower, or tying her saree a little differently to expose herself more, Chandrachur didn't even give her a second glance.

Anytime she spoke to him, he would speak rudely to her, as if she didn't know anything. He would tell her to stay in her place, to focus on being a daughter-in-law to his parents, but not a wife to him.

It had gotten so bad, that Tupur started to lie that they were happy.

Thakumaa believed that they were having a hard time bearing a child. Hence, she had come today to get fertility medication from Thakumaa upon Thakumaa and Rimjhim's request.

She just didn't have the heart to say that it was no use.

"I'm the first choice for everyone?" Bondita asked, her heart hurting now, "Tupur, that's not true."

"It is!" Tupur hissed. "You know it too. Whoever you meet in your life, loves you the most. More than everyone else!"

Bondita smiled at Tupur sadly.

Once upon a time, Batuk had the same issue with her -- he always felt like Bondita was favoured over him. Maybe that was how Batuk and Tupur got along at one point in time.

Perhaps, this was one similarity that the two of them shared, and at a subconscious level, what made Batuk connect to her.

"It's not like that Tupur," Bondita said to her, "People love you so much as well. What's this first and second thing? Love is love. There's no reason to compare."

Bondita took a deep breath and added on, "And... in case... you're wondering about Batuk..."

Tupur looked at Bondita with wide eyes when Bondita said that, and a flash of pain entered her eyes.

"Batuk is doing well," Bondita said softly.

Tupur looked down, tears entering her eyes immediately, and suddenly her chest started to heave up and down as she breathed in a staggered way.

Bondita placed a hand on Tupur's shoulder reassuringly.

"I know about what happened between you two," Bondita said softly, "He told me."

Tupur suddenly looked up at Bondita with anger.

"He told you that too?" she hissed. "First he chose you over me, and now this?"

"Tupur it's not what you're thinking," Bondita said softly, "He didn't want you to get married in my place. He was hoping you would speak up... but... things didn't go the way he wanted."

"You could have spoken up! You have the skills!" Tupur said, looking at Bondita with pain in her eyes, "I couldn't! I don't have that kind of voice Bondita! If he brought you back... if you came to the mandap, then maybe you could have still stopped the marriage, but how could I?"

Tupur suddenly started to sob, and Bondita wrapped her arms around her sister, hugging her.

"I told Maa," Tupur sobbed, "I had told her that I... I loved Batuk. But she got so mad at me. She threatened me to keep quiet and get married. She didn't trust Batuk."

"Batuk really loved you," Bondita said softly to her, as she rubbed small circles on Tupur's back, feeling Tupur's wet tears fall on her saree. "For a long time after, he would listen to sad music in his room, he would cry... for you. I don't know if it makes you feel special, but I don't want you to think that he never cared. He cared a lot. And until today, I know that he has a soft spot in his heart for you."

Tupur gripped the back of Bondita's saree tightly as she sobbed, upon hearing those words.

"He cried... for me?" she sobbed.

"Yes," Bondita whispered softly. "In front of me, he cried his heart out. That's how I found out about it. My bond with Batuk is different... we are friends, but our bond is also as deep as a mother and son, Tupur. You can't compare yourself and try to measure against the way a child loves their mother. It's a very, very deep bond."

Tupur sobbed even harder hearing this.

Bondita caressed Tupur's hair lovingly.

"Bondita, Batuk... he taught me to read and write... I am not great at it, but I learned the basics," Tupur cried against Bondita, finally opening up, "But my husband... everytime I ask him a question, he puts me down. He looks at me like I won't understand. That it's a waste of time explaining things to me. Batuk saw so much potential in me, and my husband... he... he looks at me like I'm... stupid."

Bondita squeezed her eyes shut and took a deep breath. Unfortunately, this was a sad truth of society, where women were often looked down on. Where people tried to 'mansplain' things to them, and acted like just because of their gender, they wouldn't understand.

Not just Chandrachur, but Bondita knew people in the Roy Choudhary haveli itself like that.

"You're not stupid," Bondita said firmly, "Batuk saw so much potential in you, and so do I.  People like Chandrachur think that they're so smart, because they're a man --"

Before she could finish, Tupur lifted her head and looked at Bondita with fear in her eyes.

"I spoke too much. I really am happy with my husband! Don't interfere in my marriage please," Tupur begged, "I can make things right!"

"I'm not interfering," Bondita responded compassionately, "I would never interfere unless you want me to. I would never force you based on my beliefs! You have to want it, only then can I interfere!"

She took a deep breath and said, "You can tell me anything. Don't be worried that I'll interfere. More than anything else, I want you to feel like you have support."

Tupur looked at Bondita, almost like she was melting, and she just sniffled, wiping her tears away with her hands.

"I... I should go," she said. "I came to get medication. Thakumaa might be wondering about me."

Then without another word, Tupur opened the door and left.

--

In the room where Thakumaa did her medical appointments, she was going through the medications in the cupboard.

Anirudh was standing next to her, sipping on his cup of coffee, as he noticed that there were labels that said fertility medication and anti fertility medication.

"You must be wondering why I have these labels, since I can't read or write," Thakumaa told Anirudh with a smile. "I can recognize the medications at one sight, so I don't need the labels. But there are a few people who I take on as apprentices, and some of them are boys who have learned to read and write. One of the boys had labelled all my cabinets neatly and thought it would be helpful for others who may want to learn."

Anirudh smiled and said, "Thakumaa, you can still learn to read and write. It's never too late."

"What will I do with that knowledge now Jamai Babu?" Thakumaa asked. "Anytime I want to read a book, I ask Shoumik, and he reads to me. It's not like I'm lacking anything."

"And if Shoumik isn't here to read to you?" Anirudh asked, "It's not hard Thakumaa. I can ask someone to come and teach you, and even Tapur. In fact, everyone at this haveli can learn. Let me do that for you Thakumaa."

Thakumaa sighed and said, "Your intentions are good Jamai Babu, but not everyone is going to be a barrister like Bondita."

When Thakumaa said that Bondita was going to be a barrister, Anirudh's heart felt warm. It was nice to hear this acknowledgement from Thakumaa.

"Reading and writing can help in many ways. It's not just about necessity," Anirudh said softly, "It can be a hobby. You might enjoy reading things on your own."

Thakumaa smiled as she took the contraception pills out of the cupboard, and she said, "Let me think about it."

Anirudh nodded.

She went to get something to package the pills in, and Anirudh said, "Thakumaa, I'll go and meet Sumati Maa once, is that okay?"

"Of course, you can go around freely. This is your house Jamai Babu," Thakumaa said with a grin.

Anirudh couldn't help but smile -- last year, he had been struggling to get around this house, trying to just spend a few moments with his Bondita. He had to take on a new form, a new disguise. Now, he was walking around like a free man.

How times had changed!

--

Tupur sat back down beside Chandrachur.

Bondita sat in the couch in front of them, eyeing Chandrachur quite dangerously as he sipped his tea.

Rimjhim Kaki was standing beside the sofa silently, and Sumati had gone to the other room.

"Rimjhim Kaki, can I ask you a question?" Bondita asked.

Rimjhim looked at Bondita, frowning slightly. "What is it?"

"If a man thinks he knows too much, what should we do to them?" Bondita wondered out loud, still glaring dangerously at Chandrachur.

Chandrachur nearly choked on his tea.

"Bondita, what are you talking about?" Rimjhim just snapped. "Ask your husband these questions, not me."

"My Pati Babu answers my questions with ease! He even listens to me, and takes my opinions! He treats me like I'm more intelligent than him!" Bondita went on, glaring at Chandrachur.

Chandrachur's heart twisted as he heard this.

No wonder you got so out of hand. A bird is best kept in its cage, he thought in his mind.

"And some people think that they can compare to my Pati Babu!" Bondita went on with a sarcastic laugh. "Those people are the biggest fools! They laugh at women, when they themselves are such a mockery!"

Chandrachur furrowed his brows. Was Bondita insulting him right now?

"My God Bondita..." Rimjhim said, pressing a hand to her head, "Don't bore my Jamai Babu with all this useless talk. Tupur, you stay right here, I will go and get Thakumaa. She's taking too long with Bondita's medication."

"Bondita's medication?" Chandrachur suddenly questioned, "What medication is Bondita taking?"

Rimjhim shrugged, not knowing the details, and she went out of the room.

Bondita glared at Chandrachur and asked, "Have you gotten a checkup from Thakumaa yourself? You might need some medication too."

Chandrachur nearly choked on his tea once more, his hand shaking as he held the teacup.

"Bondita why are you talking to me like this, did Tupur complain about me?" he asked lightly, as if he was joking, and then suddenly turned to glare at Tupur.

Tupur cowered in her seat nervously.

"What? Tupur?" Bondita scoffed, "No, I just looked at you and was worried. It shows on your face."

Chandrachur frowned, glaring at Bondita.

My one year tapasya is making me silent... he thought, Otherwise I have not given up on you Bondita, nor will I ever! I love you, and I will make you mine no matter what!

Chandrachur forced a smile and said, "Bondita, you talk so much, you observe so much, and that's what I love about you."

"Aww, how sweet," Bondita said sarcastically, "I'm so honoured that my brother loves me!"

Now Chandrachur couldn't control anymore, the teacup that he was holding in his hand shook so violently, that the contents splashed all over him, pouring over his kurta top and burning him.

He quickly put the cup down on the table in front yelling, "ARGH!"

Again, because of this girl he had to endure pain!

Tupur gasped, and she got up to find something to wipe him with, while Bondita sat in her seat, arms folded, just looking at him silently, not even flinching.

"Oh the poor tea," she just said, sounding like she felt very bad for it, "It had to touch you!"

Chandrachur looked at Bondita with wide eyes, his body shaking and paining, as he registered her contempt.

I will never forget these looks and harsh words Bondita! Never! It is my love for you that's keeping me silent right now, but just watch what I do to you, when I get you. Just watch!

--

After Anirudh met Sumati and got her blessings, he came to the living room and saw that Tupur was using a towel to wipe Chandrachur's kurta as he shook violently.

Anirudh noticed Bondita not even flinching on her seat on the couch, her arms folded, a very intense look like that of Durga Maa in her eyes.

It seemed like she did something.

Why did he always have to miss the fun?

"Is everything okay?" Anirudh asked, joining Bondita and touching her shoulder gently.

Chandrachur glared at Anirudh as he laid a hand on his Bondita.

"Perfectly fine Pati Babu!" Bondita said with a grin.

"We should go soon," Anirudh told her softly, "Kaka will worry if we take too long."

Then Anirudh turned to look at Tupur, who had finished wiping Chandrachur's kurta. Chandrachur's collarbone underneath his kurta top was red.

"How are you Tupur?" Anirudh asked softly.

Tupur just nodded and said, "Good Jamai Babu."

Anirudh smiled at her. He also knew about Batuk and Tupur's past, and he was hoping she was doing well.

On the other hand, Anirudh's gaze landed on Chandrachur, "I'll call Thakumaa for you Chandrachur. She must have some medication."

"That's what I said Pati Babu! That he needs medication!" Bondita said dramatically, and looked at her Pati Babu with wide eyes as if she was so innocent.

Bondita continued, "But Jamai Babu was blaming me saying that Tupur must have filled my ear! As if I don't think on my own!"

Anirudh frowned slightly, and he leaned into Bondita's ear whispering, "Did you do any shaitaani Bondita?"

Bondita blushed and whispered back, touching his shirt and running her hand up it quite seductively, "Maybe a little bit Pati Babu."

Chandrachur watched that intimate hand movement on Anirudh's shirt and his heart writhed with jealousy.

Argh, first she burns my body and now my heart!

"Bondita," Anirudh warned, with a whisper, "Did you hurt --"

"Of course not! He did that himself!" she huffed under her breath.

Anirudh just looked at her, shaking his head slightly and he said, "I'll be back. I'll get Thakumaa."

After he left, Bondita looked at Chandrachur with a grin and said, "See, now you know that Bondita doesn't say anything without meaning! I told you that you need medication, didn't I?"

Chandrachur took deep breaths, glaring at her, as she poured salt over his wounds.

--

When Anirudh found Thakumaa and explained what happened to Chandrachur, she was packaging both sets of medications for Tupur and Bondita.

Rimjhim had sent Tapur inside to help Thakumaa so that Tupur would get her medication faster.

"Tapur, finish this and give these medications to Bondita and Tupur," Thakumaa said to Tapur, who was standing there, rubbing her eyes, not really focusing. "You know which one is which, right?"

"Yes Thakumaa."

"Great. Be very careful, and if you have any doubts, ask me," Thakumaa said, and went to get the burn medication from her other cabinet, as Anirudh went back outside to join Bondita.

Tapur went to the two packages and glanced at the left and the right one.

The right one was Bondita's, surely! She was confident about it, and didn't even have a doubt in her mind!

She picked up the medications and finished packaging them, not realizing that she had switched them.

--

"Here you go Bondita Didi," Tapur said to Bondita, when she came out. "This is your medication!"

"Thank you Tapur," Bondita said with a grin, taking the packaged medication from her.

Tapur grinned back, and ran back inside to get Tupur's medication.

"Let's go Bondita," Anirudh said to her, and Bondita nodded.

"Bye Tupur!" Bondita said with a grin, and completely ignored Chandrachur as she went to bid goodbye to the rest of her family members.

Chandrachur watched Bondita go, his heart burning with a new fire after one year. Last year, she had insulted him just like this. Today, too.

Last year, he had let it go... but he didn't think he could let it go this time.

This girl had duped him so many times. Not anymore! He would get his revenge for sure!

--

Back to the present:

"I'm going to miss you," Bondita whispered, as she rested against him that night.

"Me too, Bondita," Anirudh said, pain in his voice. "Do you think I can stay away from you for even a moment?"

Bondita was normally the more positive one in these situations, but for some reason, she was getting a weird feeling. She was feeling very afraid.

She hugged Anirudh more tightly and whispered, "You will call me everyday, promise?"

"Of course," he said, "I'm taking a phone from the haveli with me."

"Pati Babu, the hotel must have a phone," she told him, with a smile.

"Bondita, maybe where the staff are, but probably not in the bedrooms. I will set up a phone line for as long as I'm there. I may be busy during the days, but I'll call you at night," he told her, and then a serious look appeared on his face, "But only until you are on your holidays. When you go back to school, I will not call you late at night."

Bondita asked, furrowing her brows, "Why?"

"You have to study and then go straight to sleep," Anirudh ordered. "Get good rest, so you can be fresh in the morning --"

"I can't sleep so early without you!" Bondita pouted.

"I'm also used to holding you and sleeping Bondita," Anirudh said with a smile, at her cute antics, "But as you know, this year is very --"

"Crucial, I know," Bondita finished with a sigh.

"Yes, now get some rest," Anirudh told her lightly.

Bondita just hugged him more tightly, feeling him as close to her as she could.

Who knew when she would get to hold him like this again?

--

Precap:

Anirudh goes to Calcutta the next morning.

At night one day, Anirudh is speaking to Bondita on the phone. She is using the phone on the wall outside the study.

"Bondita... what are you wearing?" he asks in a thick voice.

"My night gown Pati Babu, in pink," she whispers into the phone.

"Underneath?" he asks.

"Pati Babu," she says, a blush on her cheeks, and looks around nervously.

"When I'm away from you, I'm your Boyfriend Babu," he whispers into the phone, making her blush harder.

"Bondita, slide your hands up your thighs and imagine they're my hands..." he begins a heated moment of passion.

"Are we having phone sex?" Bondita gasps. "Is that even possible?"

"It is, I'll show you how," Anirudh teases, feeling ecstatic that he finally got to teach her something that her romance novels didn't teach her!

Trilochan Roy Choudhary on the other hand descends down the staircase.

Will he walk in on Bondita and Anirudh's sexy moment and talks?
