Bondita somehow managed to read the entire case file. Along with the legal contract, there were also notes about evidence and witnesses relating to one of the cousin's claims. It was a long file, with many legal terms that she still didn't fully understand.
However, she read it! So her job was done.
Bondita glanced up at her Pati Babu, who was still focused hard on his work, and she placed her elbow against the desk, resting her hand against her cheek, as she admired him.
When he focused on his work, he looked handsome for sure, but Bondita felt like she could stare at him like this all day. Just looking at him made her fill to the brim with happiness.
After he finished what he was doing, he looked at her and asked, "Have you read the case?"
Bondita nodded, still in a daze.
"Read it again," he told her, and glanced back down at his file, as if he was also re-reading it.
Bondita looked at him, removing her arm from the table, her mouth falling open.
She had already read through that once, and he wanted her to read it again?
"Pati Babu, again?" Bondita demanded.
"Yes Bondita. It's important that you study the cases inside out. It's imperative that you know all of the details properly, as if it were your own matter. That's how you will be a good barrister," he just said, still looking down.
She got his point. She really did! However, this was the first time that she was reading a full case file with all of that legal jargon!
Didn't she deserve a break?
But of course, this was her Pati Babu! He hardly believed in breaks!
Study, study, study was his one and only mantra!
Bondita furrowed her brows, and looked at the case again, because as much as she didn't like it, she couldn't go against what he said!
So she read the case again, feeling tired.
Once she was done, she had enough! She needed a break, she needed to relax! And the best form of relaxation, was none other than him!
So Bondita got up, while he was still focused on his work. She went behind the desk and peered over his shoulder at the case that he was reading.
Anirudh looked up when she went behind his desk, wondering what happened to her.
He told her to read her case, so why was she back here?
"Bondita, what are you doing here? Go back and focus!" Anirudh ordered, glaring at Bondita.
"Birristira Babu, I read that case already," Bondita said nonchalantly, trying to get closer to him.
She read it twice! She believed a break was due now!
Anirudh rolled his chair away from her, but Bondita huffed and stepped closer to him. He rolled his chair further to the side, and she stepped towards him again.
"Even if you read it Bondita, there's more learning to be done. Your job is not over!" Anirudh told her. "Go back to your seat. I'll give you something else to do."
"But Pati Babu, I want a break!" Bondita whined, stepping towards him again, as he rolled further away. "If you're still working, it's okay. You work. At least let me sit with you!"
"Bondita!" Anirudh yelled, when he had no more space to roll, because he reached the edge of his desk. "Didn't I tell you to focus?"
If he got carried away, not just her focus, but his focus would also go. He wouldn't be able to hold himself back for long, and he may leave his entire workload and make love to her on this desk itself!
And this could be a regular routine, if he allowed it to happen once. Then she would be forever distracted from the barrister training! No, he couldn't! Her barrister training was strictly for barrister training. There was no room for romance!
"I can focus while sitting on your lap too!" Bondita told him, her eyes wide and excited.
Anirudh looked at her with a stern expression, and Bondita got on his lap, facing him. Her saree climbed up her legs, as she made herself comfortable on his thighs.
"Barrister Babu, please teach your trainee about cases up close," Bondita whispered, seductively, as she leaned closer to him.
Anirudh glared at her again, not buying it.
This was the time for her to learn, and all madame wanted to do was romance?
"Get off," he ordered. "Get off right now."
A pout appeared on her lips, but she just admired how hot he looked in his glasses.
"Bondita, off!" he repeated sternly, noticing the gaze with which she was looking at him.
Her eyes were full of desire, and the way she rubbed herself on his lap was making it very clear what her intentions were.
Bondita pouted again as she looked at him, and Anirudh tried hard not to melt over her cute look.
"You take me off yourself, if you want me off!" Bondita huffed, but she leaned closer to him, her breath approaching his earlobe. "But Birristira Babu, your student is excited to learn every case from you... closely. Why don't you give it a try? You may enjoy this method of teaching."
Her words were doing something to him. They were turning him on for sure. But Anirudh knew that if he gave in to temptation once, then she would do this over and over again!
So with a heavy heart, he gripped her wrists with one of his hands, and locked them behind her back, making her shudder with pleasure. She was expecting him to hold her hands behind her back and kiss her passionately, but instead, he slipped his other hand underneath her legs, and lifted her off the chair, along with him.
Bondita's eyes widened as he placed her on the ground.
"Go and sit on your own seat," he ordered.
A furious look appeared in her eyes.
"Pati Babu, do you think that I won't learn if I take a five minute break?" she demanded.
"Bondita, if this happens, then you will crave this passion, instead of craving learning," Anirudh replied, furrowing his brows.
Bondita folded her arms across her chest, and she argued, "That's not true! You are overthinking, as always!"
"I only overthink for your good!" Anirudh said defensively.
"How is it for my good, if it's redundant? If it makes no sense? If it's not even true?" she demanded.
Anirudh sighed heavily and he said, "Sit down Bondita. Now is not the time to argue."
"Fine, I'll argue with you later," she just huffed, and she sat back down on her chair, knowing that she couldn't deny his order, but later on, when he wanted to romance with her, he was going to get a dose of his own medicine!
--
The kisses got heated, the pent up frustration that had built inside of them, being released through the endorphins of their body.
Batuk's hands had moved down the sides of Surabhi's body, as her hands fisted his hair, her lips moving against his passionately.
Batuk rested his hands on her waist, wrapping them around her back, and pulling her body closer to his.
He had dreamed of this moment, literally. Now it was happening for real.
After they broke the kiss, both of them breathless, they looked at each other for a moment, their chests heaving, before leaning towards each other and attacking each others lips again.
It didn't seem like they were going to get enough today.
It was only after some time, when Surabhi breathlessly said, "I have to go."
"Now?" Batuk murmured, pulling her close and gently biting on her lower lip again.
"Mmm yes Batuk, now," Surabhi managed to say against his mouth.
He reluctantly let her go, and she straightened her dress, before heading towards her bag.
Batuk looked at Surabhi, his heart fluttering.
"I hope you've left the past behind now," Surabhi just said lightly, as she rolled the straps of the bag over her arms.
It seemed like that was the wrong thing to say, because Batuk's gaze immediately darkened and he hissed, "I can never leave that behind!"
Surabhi's small smile faded, and she looked at him, raising her eyebrow.
"Seriously?" she asked him. "How does that make any sense, after what you just did?"
Batuk looked away from her, almost with guilt, and said, "I have to go too."
Surabhi breathed sharply, and just stormed out of the room, not saying another word to him.
--
Bondita did the work he assigned to her in silence, not talking to Anirudh beyond what was necessary until it was time for dinner.
During dinner time, Vikram and Manika had joined the family. Vikram had already begun to teach Manika the letters of the Devanagari script, so that she could learn to read and write.
Trilochan, Sampoorna and Binoy were keeping conversations at a minimum with Manika. None of them were exactly happy about Manika living at the haveli.
Batuk was picking at his food quietly. After the heated session at school with Surabhi, she was all that was on his mind. He was absolutely living in her thoughts. The thoughts of the kisses, of the passionate moments. The moments where he thought he could just get lost in her lips.
Then there came the dreaded end to their passionate session. Maybe he shouldn't have said anything to her. Maybe he should have kept quiet. That way, at least he wouldn't ruin whatever it was that he was building with her. However, Batuk was confused. He was absolutely confused about what he felt.
Did he hate her or did he like her?
Bondita wasn't looking at Anirudh throughout dinner, and it was making him frown.
"Bondita," Anirudh whispered to her, as she ate her food quietly. "Look at me."
Bondita turned to look at him blankly. She was sitting beside him.
"Are you mad at me? Still?" Anirudh asked.
"No, of course not," she just said, and continued to eat her food.
Anirudh smiled and he whispered, "You look so beautiful."
Bondita almost rolled her eyes! Now he wanted to get romantic! He needed everything on a schedule! But in this strange schedule, the only time romance was forbidden, was during their lessons!
Vikram on the other hand, kept on peeking glances at Manika as he ate. He hoped she was comfortable here among this big family.
Somnath had brought his medical textbook to the table as usual, and was lost in his reading, while eating with one hand. As he was bringing the food to his mouth though, a few grains of rice mixed with dhal fell onto the textbook, and Somnath groaned loudly, causing everyone at the table to look at him.
"Ohho Somnath Dada!" Bondita said, handing him a cloth to wipe it with, "The yellow stain won't go off easily."
"Satyanaash!" Kaka huffed. "This was bound to happen. First you bring those inappropriate books to the dinner table, and now you can't even eat properly!"
Somnath gulped.
"Kaka, he's studying to be a doctor. Of course he has to learn about everything related to the human body," Anirudh said, frowning.
"It's his marriage age, but instead of getting married, he's too busy with his books," Kaka huffed.
Batuk looked up from his food, momentarily distracted, and he teased lightly, "Som Dada, people will think you're having an affair with your books if you keep this up!"
Bondita looked at Batuk and nearly giggled, trying hard to stifle her laughter, because she didn't want Somnath to get offended.
Batuk noticed the upward turn of his Boudi's lips, and he immediately smiled too, his heart warming up.
Vikram noticed this exchange between his two best friends, and he also smiled.
It seemed like the cold air between the three had vanished for now, after all.
Manika glanced at Vikram, who was smiling along Bondita and Batuk, and a smile appeared on her face as well, as she admired how this boy was with his friends.
He was so good to his friends. So good.
Somnath slammed his book shut and huffed.
"Batuk, it's better you focus on what you want to do in life," Somnath just said.
Batuk pouted, not even knowing what he wanted to do with his big, seemingly long life!
"Som, maybe during dinner time, you can take a break," Anirudh suggested, and Bondita turned to look at Anirudh, her eyes widening.
So, her Pati Babu knew the definition of break?
Somnath looked at Anirudh, sounding irritated, and said, "Dada, there's so much work. It's not easy to study medicine. I barely sleep! I don't get time for breaks."
"You should get a girlfriend," Batuk just blurted out before he could stop himself.
"Shiv Shiv Shiv," Kaka just hissed, glaring at his youngest nephew.
Binoy chuckled lightly from his seat, quite liking his youngest son's attitude. He seemed to know how to enjoy life more than any one of his sons. Anirudh was too busy in his fitoor, and Somnath too busy in his books. At least his youngest son seemed less crazy than them! His focus was at least on what boys normally focused on.
Sampoorna lifted Sashwati from the high chair that she had previously been eating in and patted her back to burp her.
"Girlfriends and wives, are overrated," Som just said to Batuk, irritably.
Bondita gasped loudly and she asked, "Why are they overrated? They can be so much fun to have! There are many things you can do with a lover that you can't do alone!"
Somnath looked at Bondita and Anirudh, the image of catching them making out in the hallway still fresh in his memory.
"I've noticed," Somnath just said, "I don't think it's necessary to keep a girlfriend or wife for hormonal purposes."
It was a jab at them, but Bondita was confused.
"Som..." Anirudh started, also not understanding.
"Dada, please, I am very happy with my studies. Don't ask me to take a break again. And as for Batuk and Boudi's comment about girlfriends and lovers, I've seen enough with you two already. How hormones can make the most innocent man into a ferocious beast!"
Bondita looked at Anirudh, her face turning red, as she recalled what Somnath had seen that day, months ago. Anirudh's face also turned red. They had finally understood what he had been referring to.
Kaka furrowed his brows. What had Somnath seen exactly? How had he learned that hormones can turn an innocent man into a ferocious beast through Anirudh and Bondita?
Anirudh and hormones had no relation! It was like sexual desire didn't exist in Anirudh's body, and Kaka was sure of it! Something was horribly wrong with his nephew!
Batuk couldn't believe his ears as well when he heard Som's confession!
"You too..." Batuk just mumbled, under his breath, "My poor Som Dada has also been traumatized by my Dada and Boudi!"
Vikram glanced at Manika with a small smile and he said, "The Roy Choudharys have very entertaining dining table sessions."
Manika smiled at Vikram and whispered, "I can see that. I'm glad I get to witness it first hand today."
"I thought she was your responsibility..." Somnath just murmured under his breath, rolling his eyes -- another jab at Anirudh and Bondita, "But she changed you."
Thankfully, nobody had heard this.
Binoy just sighed heavily and said, "I don't know why my three sons are all so different from each other."
Sampoorna looked at Binoy and said in a tone where one couldn't make out if she was joking or if she was worried, "Your daughter might also be another unique piece."
She really hoped that her Sashwati was normal! But looking at the Roy Choudhary genes, she was afraid for the fate of her daughter!
Needless to say, it was yet another entertaining episode at the Roy Choudhary's dinner table!

Precap:
"Pati Babu, you should focus," Bondita said to him in their bedroom. He had his arms wrapped around her waist, and was leaning towards her to kiss her. "On your work. I don't want to distract you!"
Anirudh stopped, his lips a few inches away from hers, and he said, "Bondita, in the bedroom, I only want to focus on you."
"That five minute break could have killed my entire barrister career! So this whole night break can definitely kill it!" Bondita continued, and Anirudh gulped.
"B - Bondita..." he stammered.
How was he going to pacify her now?
--
"Let's play a game," Anirudh whispered into her ear, in the dark.
Bondita blushed and she asked, "What kind of game?"
He took a satin blindfold, and murmured, "It's a game where your eyes will be covered, and I get to play with my blindfolded bride."
Bondita blushed hard, her knees feeling weak as he tied the blindfold around her eyes.
