The next day at school, it was clear that Batuk was not in a good mood.

Both Mallika and Surabhi noticed that Bondita and Vikram also seemed to not be talking to Batuk properly. It was like they all got in a fight or something.

As soon as class was over, the students all began to pack their belongings to leave. Vikram and Bondita left first, while Batuk packed his books with a scowl on his face.

Mallika approached him and said, "Don't mind haan, but it seems like Bondita and Vikram are mad at you."

Batuk glared at Mallika and rudely asked, "What's your problem?"

Mallika blinked a few times and she asked, "Why are you mad at me now ji?"

She was rubbing salt to his wounds, without even knowing the situation! Why did she need to point out the obvious?

Batuk continued to glare at her.

"Go away Mallika," Batuk groaned, "I don't want to talk to you."

Mallika furrowed her brows and huffed, "No wonder everyone keeps leaving you! First Surabhi, now Bondita and Vikram! Your behaviour pushes everyone away!"

Then Mallika stormed away, making Batuk feel an ache in his heart. Her words had somewhere stung him deeply.

"Bloody hell," Batuk mumbled under his breath, "So what if Mallika is saying things? It doesn't mean it's true."

And he knew that Vikram and his Boudi weren't really mad at him. They were just in a disagreement over what happened yesterday.

Surabhi was at her desk, slowly packing her bags. She was taking extra time to pack, because she had also noticed Batuk's serious expressions and his stressed out looking face all morning. She had also seen that Vikram and Bondita were not laughing with him as usual.

What must have happened?

Just like she had told him four months ago, she wasn't going to approach him first. But she could sit here silently, in case he needed her, right?

Surabhi wasn't sure whether her feelings for Batuk were deep, but she knew that more than anything his friendship was what she missed.

And as his lost friend, she was here for him, making herself available, if he wanted her.

Batuk sat behind his desk, in the empty classroom, aware that Surabhi was somewhere behind him. She usually sat a few row backs. He knew she hadn't left yet, and she was sitting there quietly.

A part of him wanted to lash out at her too, and tell her to leave him alone.

But he was already alone, and he had nobody else to go to.

So he didn't yell at her to leave.

He just remained seated quietly for a few moments, until he finally asked in a deep voice, not looking back, "Why are you here?"

--

When Bondita went home, she got changed into her saree first, and then went to make a cup of coffee before meeting Anirudh in the study for their lessons.

Anirudh had already started to research what he could do regarding Manika's case, and had even tried to contact others who had experience in these matters. He had spent the day writing letters to big barristers and activists across the country.

Bondita placed his hot cup of coffee down on the table in front of him.

"Kaapi Birristira Babu," Bondita said with a smile, causing him to look up from his work.

A smile emerged on Anirudh's lips, and he reached to hold her hand, squeezing it lovingly.

"Thank you Bondita," he said to her softly. "Are you ready to start? Did you eat?"

He knew that it would be difficult for his Bondita to stay hungry, and hence it would impact her focus.

He needed her full attention on her training. There was no room for distractions now! They were going to start serious training to make their dreams come true!

Bondita nodded.

"I had a snack when making you coffee," she told him with a smile.

"Good, then have a seat. You have a case to read today."

Bondita's eyes lit up with excitement when he told her that she could read a case.

She wondered what she would get to read!

Burglary, arson, murder

She hadn't just read romance novels, but Bondita had read all kinds of novels by now, and crime novels were her favourites too!

Anirudh picked up a file and handed it to her. Bondita eagerly went and sat across his desk from him, opening the case file and excitedly looking at it, wondering which of the three topics she had envisioned it could be.

Maybe he would have her start small, like a case about robbery!

Instead, her excitement faded, when she read the first few sentences.

Instead of crime, she was met with property dispute

Here she was fantasizing about an incredibly intriguing criminal case, and her Pati Babu was making her read about two cousins fighting over their grandfather's property!

Whyyyyyy, Pati Babu? She wanted to whine.

Bondita pouted, as Anirudh focused on his work, peering through his glasses at a different file. He then began to take notes, and Bondita sighed heavily, reading her own file.

She yawned after a few minutes.

"Pati Babu, are there any interesting cases?" she asked him.

"Of course, but start with that," he told her, not even looking up at her.

Bondita sighed, looking at the boring case file.

Criminal cases would be way more fun!

She looked up and admired his barrister robe which hung on a rack to the side.

Now she was distracted! And how couldn't she be, when what she imagined was way more interesting than the case that was in front of her?

"Barrister Babu," Bondita just said breathlessly. "When will I get to..."

A deep blush reached her cheeks as she envisioned her Pati Babu in that robe, and her making out relentlessly with him. The desires ignited in her body in the most passionate of ways, as her imagination ran wild.

"Huh?" Anirudh asked, looking up from his file with a stern look.

Bondita smiled sweetly at him and said, "Nothing! I'm focusing!"

Her attention was diverted by that barrister robe though, and also the hot Barrister Babu in front of her!

She had always imagined making love to all of her Babus, but she hadn't even made love to her Barrister Babu yet!

Her insides started to churn with excitement as she envisioned herself sitting on his lap and making out relentlessly with him.

"Bondita, are you sure you're focusing?" Anirudh asked, glancing back down at his work.

"Yes, I'm super focused," she said breathlessly.

On your barrister form!

In the classroom, Surabhi was quiet when Batuk asked her why she was here. She didn't answer him.

She wasn't ready to be met with his rude accusations again.

He finally turned his head around and looked at her, and she blankly looked back at him from her seat a few desks behind him.

"Everyone left, why didn't you leave too?" Batuk asked.

Surabhi finally sighed and she asked, "Do you want me to leave Batuk?"

"Yes!" Batuk said, not meaning it, but saying it anyways.

How could he tell her to stay, when his pride was too big for that? His male ego was fueled by nothing but testosterone, and he just couldn't admit that he wanted her to stay. He couldn't look like a hypocrite when he was the one who very firmly claimed he hated her.

"I don't think you mean that," Surabhi just said, and she got up, picking up her bag, "But if you say so, then I'll go. I'm not interested in chasing after you when you're only pushing me away."

She was about to walk to the door when Batuk gulped, his heartrate increasing rapidly.

He didn't want her to go.

Maybe he was a hypocrite, and he just had to be okay with it.

Just before she could make it to the door, Batuk had stood up and rushed over to her, gripping her arm tightly, and turning her around on the spot.

Her eyes widened, not expecting him to grab her arm like that.

"Batuk, what --" she started, but he had grabbed her bag, sliding it off her shoulder, and letting it fall on the floor.

She glanced down at her fallen bag with shock.

Batuk looked at her -- her skin that was smooth as milk, her thick eyelashes, her full, pink lips. His gaze travelled down her body at her figure. Her slender build, her smooth, exposed legs.

Those legs...

Surabhi noticed Batuk's gaze on her body, and heat immediately reached to her cheeks.

"Don't look at me like that," she managed to say.

Batuk looked back into her eyes, and Surabhi noticed that his expression changed. He looked like he wanted her.

She gulped.

The expression on his face didn't look decent. He looked like he could do the most indecent of things to her right now.

"Batuk, are you going to kiss me?" she just asked bluntly.

"You want that?" Batuk just replied, his heart hammering widlly in his chest.

Surabhi felt like the airflow to her throat was restricted, as she just stammered, "It's... sudden."

"That's not a no," Batuk just murmured, and reached for her shoulders, holding on to them tightly and pushing her against the wall.

"It's not a yes either," Surabhi managed to say.

Batuk could feel the levels of his hormones increase, as he glanced at her smooth pink lips. How badly he wanted to feel them with his own.

He had made the mistake already about kissing Surabhi for revenge, without her consent, and he wasn't going to do it again.

He really would disappoint his Dada and Boudi beyond no repair if he did this twice

So, reluctantly, he let go of her arms and was about to turn away, trying not to glance down at her legs again as he did so.

But Surabhi gripped his hand, her heart fluttering.

"You were ready to go?" she asked him softly, causing him to turn back around.

Seeing this gentle act of his warmed her up more than she could have ever imagined.

"If you don't want it, then I shouldn't do it, without your consent," Batuk just said to her.

Surabhi smiled at him, and Batuk just glanced at her smile, not sure what he was feeling exactly.

He wanted to get closer to her, and it seemed like he was liking her, but at the same time, he still couldn't forgive her. Not so easily.

Yet, it was so hard to stay away.

Surabhi's heart fluttered and she whispered, "Come on Batuk Roy Choudhary, kiss me."

Batuk's eyes widened when she agreed, his heart hammering even faster, if that was possible.

"R - really?" he stammered, like he couldn't believe it.

Surabhi nodded.

"Consider yourself lucky, because I wouldn't let anyone else do this," she told him softly, smiling at him.

"Only me?" Batuk asked, feeling incredibly superior over this fact.

"You've been the only one," Surabhi replied, "There's been no one else."

Batuk couldn't help but smile, and he didn't waste any more time in cupping her cheeks in his hands and leaning towards her, closing the gap between their mouths, and capturing her lips in a searing, deep kiss.

This time, it wasn't one-sided like their first two kisses.

This time, they both kissed each other.

And damn, did it feel good to the both of them.
