The phone at the Roy Choudhary haveli started to ring, and Batuk was lucky that he was nearby. He expected that perhaps it would be Vikram calling, but he hadn't thought it would be Tupur delivering what would be the most heartbreaking news of his young life.

"Hello?" Batuk said into the receiver.

"Batuk," Tupur said, her voice sounding anxious. She sounded like she was extremely afraid.

"Tupur?" Batuk asked, shocked, and then looked around him to make sure that nobody was listening. "What's wrong? You remembered me so early in the morning."

"Batuk, send Bondita back please," Tupur begged.

Batuk frowned and he asked, "What? I can't do that!"

"Then they'll get me married to Chandrachur instead!" Tupur sobbed. "Please send her!"

"What?" Batuk asked, his heart breaking. "How can they do that?"

"I told Maa about our relationship, I told her I didn't want to marry Chandrachur, but my Maa called me a disgrace... she... she slapped me, and she was more firm about my marriage," Tupur said, sounding scared. "Batuk, please do something. The only way out of this is if Bondita comes. Thakumaa is still hoping she comes!"

Batuk felt like he could cry when he heard this.

"No Tupur, don't get married! Say no!" Batuk told her.

"I can't Batuk. I can't say no to Thakumaa. I already lied to my family by meeting you secretly. I already broke their trust. I can't deny them again," Tupur said tearfully. "Now it's up to you. The only way to stop this is to bring Bondita here. Please bring her back."

"I can't bring back Boudi Tupur," Batuk said, shaking his head.

"Then this is the last time we will be talking Batuk, because after this I will be someone else's wife!" Tupur told him, her tears streaming down her cheeks.

"Tupur, don't say that," Batuk begged. "Do something. You can do something, anything, start a fire there... do something!"

"I don't have that kind of guts!" Tupur just shot back, "I already tried to speak up like you told me in front of Maa, but look what that did!"

Batuk's eyes filled with tears.

Tupur just asked, "For once, can't you choose me over Bondita?"

Batuk just whispered into the receiver, "S...sorry Tupur... I... I can't..."

He was just met with a dead line, because Tupur had slammed the phone and sobbed uncontrollably.

Batuk fell to the ground beside the floor, and he also started to sob.

How could he save Tupur by putting his Boudi on the line?

--

Bondita had made a rope out of sarees and grinned at her Pati Babu.

"This is how I used to go to the river and bathe, when I first came here," she said proudly. "We can easily run away from here!"

Anirudh shook his head slowly. She said it like she was an expert in running away!

Bondita threw the rope out of the window and she looked at her Pati Babu.

"Shall we go?" she asked him.

"I'll go first. Then I can catch you, just in case. Can you climb up with your leg?" he asked her, sounding concerned.

Bondita nodded, "I can!"

Anirudh smiled at her and climbed down Bondita's innovative rope. After he got down, Bondita climbed down too, while he helped her get off.

"Now, we just have to get the car keys," he told her softly. "I have to sneak in the house for this."

"Be careful Pati Babu," she warned, "We can't get caught."

Anirudh touched her cheek with a smile and he said, "I'll definitely unite with you today Bondita. No matter what."

Bondita smiled as he snuck inside the house to get the keys.

He came back quite quickly with the keys, and she smiled at him.

"Are you ready?" he asked her.

"Yes!" she said.

The two of them got in one of the many cars at the Roy Choudhary haveli, and drove off towards Krishnanagar.

--

Inside the Roy Choudhary haveli, Batuk was standing outside Anirudh and Bondita's room. He stared at it sadly.

How could he send his Boudi back? He couldn't.

Then how could he save Tupur from marriage? He couldn't.

There, Thakumaa would probably make things worse for his Dada and Boudi, if she found out that Batuk was also having an affair with one of her other granddaughters.

It was killing him that he couldn't stop the wedding.

Kaka came behind Batuk and he asked, "Don't you find it odd that it's been quiet?"

Batuk turned to look at Kaka. Now that Kaka had pointed it out, it was odd. Neither his Dada or Boudi were ones who would quietly stay inside a room after being locked in.

"Do you think they have woken up by now Kaka?" Batuk asked.

"I don't think they would have slept," Kaka just said.

Batuk looked at Kaka with wide eyes. Not slept? Did he mean what he thought he meant?

Dada and Boudi didn't sleep because they were being physical all night?!

"They must have been talking all night, Bahu must have been convincing him, something of that sort," Kaka just said, because he was not going to ever in this lifetime believe that his Anirudh and Bahu shared any type of physical relation!

Although he had witnessed a kiss that day, he was certain they were just showing off to Thakumaa!

"We should check," Kaka said. "Open the door and peer in slightly!"

Batuk nodded and unlocked the door. When he peered inside, he saw that the room was empty. The entire door flew open, and he gasped.

"They're not here!" Batuk exclaimed.

Kaka's eyes widened and he rushed inside the room, to the window, where he saw the rope of sarees.

"Are they going to Krishnanagar?" Batuk asked.

"That crazy lady will kill them with her stupid rifle! Batuk, I have to go and save them!" Kaka said frantically.

"I'll come too," Batuk said, desperate to go along.

"No Batuk, you stay back. It's too dangerous," Kaka said.

"Please Kaka, please let me come," Batuk begged.

The desperation in his voice caused Kaka to sigh, and he nodded. "Alright, come."

The two of them then set out to stop Anirudh and Bondita from getting hurt, while Batuk had an ulterior motive that maybe... just maybe... he could stop Tupur's wedding too.

--

Tupur was sitting on the mandap with her face covered by the veil, her heart shaking with fear and dread.

What would become of her, once she married Chandrachur?

She didn't know if he was a nice man or not, but she was afraid. She was very afraid to marry this man.

Thakumaa had taken Chandrachur's mother Sadhya to the side and had informed her that Tupur was under the veil and not Bondita.

Chandrachur's mother was relieved. She had never wanted Bondita for Chandrachur after all.

"Chandrachur Jamai Babu might not be happy," Thakumaa whispered to his mother.

"I will convince him to accept Tupur," Sadhya said back. "This is the best news you have given me."

Thakumaa forced a smile at Sadhya. Now, at least Chandrachur's mother was convinced. She would have to deal with Bondita and the Roy Choudharys after this wedding.

The wedding procession went on, and finally, Chandrachur lifted the veil to apply the sindoor.

What he saw shocked him.

His eyes went so wide that his eyebrows reached his hairline, as he saw that he had been deceived!

THIS WAS NOT BONDITA!

"ARGH WHERE IS BONDITA?" he screamed, looking around.

Chandrachur's mother rushed over to him and whispered in his ear, "Don't yell, even though this is a small wedding, there are quite a few guests here. Our reputation is at stake. Quietly fill Tupur's maang."

"What nonsense is this!" Chandrachur yelled, "I wanted to marry Bondita!"

Tupur was shaking next to him, tears in her eyes, looking absolutely afraid.

"Shh don't yell," Sadhya warned again. "Fill her hairline quietly."

"But what will I do with Tupur? I only want Bondita! ARGH!" Chandrachur said, sounding extremely frustrated that he could cry!

He had done so much tapasya for his Bondita! He had taken her taunts, her pains, and even brought her a phone while she spoke to her lover in front of him! And this was how he had to pay for it?

He couldn't even have her in the end? He had to make do with her sister?

Completely irritated, Chandrachur turned around, and grabbed sindoor, applying it on Tupur's hairline quite harshly.

Tupur sobbed as her marriage with Chandrachur was considered complete.

"Great, the marriage is complete!" Thakumaa said, forcing a happy smile and announcing it to the guests. "Food will be served, so everyone please make your way there --"

That was when she saw Anirudh and Bondita walking towards them, hand in hand. She rubbed her eyes and saw that she was not dreaming.

What were they here to do now?

A furious look reached her eyes, when she saw them approach, and she went to grab her rifle, which she had kept on the side beside Shoumik.

Tupur looked up and noticed Bondita coming.

Did Batuk really send her?

A happy smile reached her lips, but then it turned into a heartbroken one again, because it was too late. She was someone else's wife now.

Chandrachur was so angry that he didn't even notice Bondita come!

When Anirudh and Bondita approached, and Bondita saw that Chandrachur had married Tupur instead of her, a gasp left her lips.

"Where's Thakumaa? What did she do?" Bondita asked, eyes wide.

Anirudh was confused. Wasn't Bondita supposed to get married today, then why was Tupur sitting here, married?

Chandrachur finally looked up and saw his Bondita arrive.

She must have come to marry him!

He smiled. She was looking so gorgeous, even though she was holding some other man's hand and had a copious amount of someone else's sindoor in her hairline.

"BONDITA!" Chandrachur said happily, standing up. "Are you here to marry me?"

Bondita turned to look at him furiously.

"Did you just marry my sister?" Bondita asked loudly, angrily. "Why? You wanted to marry me right?"

Anirudh looked at his wife, with surprise.

So the person she was supposed to marry was Chandrachur

Tupur looked up at Bondita with sobs, as Rimjhim rushed over to Tupur and whispered in her ear, "Don't you dare say a word against this marriage Tupur. You've already caused problems for us. If you say anything now, your life will be ruined! Chandrachur Jamai Babu, his family, this society won't accept you! You will have to live like Thakumaa did her whole life."

Tupur, who had been shaking with fear this whole time, shook with more fear at the possibility of living like her Thakumaa.

She stood up slowly beside Chandrachur and wiped her tears away.

"Tupur, how could you marry him?" Bondita demanded. "Who forced you? Did Thakumaa?"

Anirudh didn't know what was right and wrong about Tupur's wedding, because he wasn't around for much of the internal talks after he had been exposed as Roopa. So it was best that he let Bondita deal with this one.

Tupur shook her head, just in time for Batuk and Kaka to reach there.

Batuk watched with a heartbroken expression, as he saw the sindoor on Tupur's hairline.

"N - No Bondita... n - nobody forced me..." Tupur said, "I married because I wanted to!"

She couldn't live like Thakumaa! She couldn't live like an outcast. She didn't have the guts. She didn't have the courage.

Even if that meant that she had to leave Batuk behind.

Batuk and Kaka rushed to the front, and Batuk had a heartbroken expression after Tupur confessed that she married because she wanted to.

"Is that so?" Bondita asked, "But you know he wanted to marry me, do you think he will treat you well?"

Anirudh turned around and saw Batuk there with Kaka. He noticed a strange look in Batuk's eyes. It was a pained one. Why did Batuk look so sad?

"Bondita, it's my business! You married into a good family, so I wanted to too!" Tupur just said. "Is there a problem if I choose a good family for myself?"

Batuk's heart broke again, and Tupur avoided his gaze.

He was too late.

She was someone else's wife now, and she couldn't change her fate. Now, the best thing to do was accept it.

Chandrachur just frowned with irritation.

He turned to his mom and whispered desperately, "Maa, tell Bondita to forget all of that! Her Thakumaa gave her papers. Tell her to sign those and sit down here on the mandap. I will marry her too and she won't have to worry, because I will treat her like my first wife!"

"Have you lost it?" Sadhya hissed.

"I want Bondita!" Chandrachur said with a glare.

He wanted Bondita by hook or by crook.

Before Sadhya could say anything in response though, Thakumaa had made it back with her rifle.

She pointed it straight at Anirudh Roy Choudhary angrily.

Bondita squeezed Anirudh's hand tightly, and stepped in front of him, glaring daggers at her Thakumaa.

"Even Yamraj, the God of death will have to go through me to get my Pati Babu, so who are you Thakumaa?" Bondita bellowed, as Anirudh watched her with awe.

The showdown had just begun.

I hope you enjoyed this chapter. ❤️

Not all love stories work out, and some relationships are just there to walk with you for a brief time before taking you to a different path, to form new relationships. There was an inherent problem with Batuk and Tupur's relationship from the beginning, and it will be made even more clear in the upcoming chapters.

Although there was some heartbreak in this chapter, I hope you enjoyed it. After all, Chandrachur got his popat yet again.

A lot happened in it, so I would love your inline (and off line) comments!

Are you excited for the main showdown?

What will happen now?

Remember to press star and leave your comments on both the last part and this part.

Love you all!
