~ Ryder's POV ~

It's been a week since I got back to heaven and I honestly missed it so much. Training has been hard but I missed my beautiful white wings and being a good guy. I hated it down in hell so I'm glad God saved me. 

I walk to God's office, hand in hand with Del, after having yet another training session. We knock and God lets us in and we sit down. 

"So, Delphine" God starts, turning to her smiling. 

"How is Ryder doing?". 

"He's doing amazing. I'd say he's finished and ready to go because I've taught him everything I know and he's aced it" she replies cheerfully. 

"Is that so? So how do you feel Ryder?". 

"Ummm I'm confident but I don't know if I'm ready to see Charlie yet" I reply meekly. 

"Well you're going to have to see her sooner or later Ryder," he says warmly. 

"I know" I sigh, running my hands through my hair. 

"Would you be willing to go today? Because Cole and her dad are doing their best to keep her safe but she needs you back, even if you just watch over her and don't let her see you". 

"If I must go today, I will go today," I say nervously. 

"Good" God booms grinning. 

"Because we've been picking up more activity than usual and we think it has something to do with Lucifer's new power, but it will settle down soon. But until then, you need to keep her safe". I nod and get up and head towards the door with Del in my arms. 

"Oh and Ryder," he says, stopping me before I can leave. 

"Yeah?". 

"Try not to fuck up this time," he says sternly. My jaw drops, causing him to chuckle. 

"I won't sir, I promise" I reply shocked before walking out of the room in a dazed state. Delphine giggles at me and we head to the gates. I put her down and she puts her serious face one. 

"Now, rules," she says before cracking a smile. "

You can stay on earth for as long or little as you want, just as long you come back when you are called and come to the weekly guardian meetings. Be careful of who you show your angel self to, I recommend just staying in your human form unless you have to show your angel self. And please, just be safe and careful and look after your innocent" she says smiling. I nod and smile back at her before she hugs me. 

I bear hug her back, making her giggle before putting her back down again. 

"So, any other questions?" she asks warmly. 

"No" I reply with a small smile. 

"Good. Ready to go then?". 

"As ready as I'll ever be I guess" I reply, nervously. She nods and takes my hands and leads me through the gates to the edge of the cliff. I watch as she opens her wings before I do the same. She nods and jumps off, pulling me with her. 

Fuck, I missed flying. The wind races through my feathers as we soar down towards earth. I gulp as I see we are getting closer and closer to Linkenwater by the second. Soon, we gently land outside Cole's house and I stare nervously at the door. 

"This is where I leave you Ryder," Del says sweetly. I nod and hug her tight. 

"Just call if you need me yeah?" she says, giving me a worried look. 

"Will do" I reply, before kissing her head. I watch as she flies back up into the sky and I know she is heading to go watch over mum, dad, Arielle, and Tody. 

At this point, no one can see me but I instantly feel warm. I can feel her again. Oh, how I missed Charlie. I hold my wings in and feel myself shifting into my human form. I breathe in and I notice that I can feel things. I feel happy. 

Fuck yeah, my human feelings are back! I sigh as I look back at the door, knowing I have to go in. 

"Ryder" God says in my mind. 

"Yeah?" I ask back. 

"When you're finished catching up with Cole, tell him that I want him to be Eden's guardian angel and then bring him up to me quickly". 

"Will do sir" I reply smiling. I zone back in and walk up to the door. I knock and hear shuffling behind the door. Both Eden and Cole should be here because the girls' school would have finished about an hour ago. 

Suddenly, the door opens and standing there is a shocked Eden. 

"R-Ryder?!" she asks nervously. 

"Hey Eden," I say smiling. She squeals and pulls me into a hug. 

"What's going on out here?" Cole asks confused as he walks to the door. We make eye contact and suddenly he is hugging me too. 

"Ryder! Lord, you back? What the hell?" he says shocked. I laugh and they drag me inside and into the living room. I sit down and they stare at me intently. 

"What?" I smirk. 

"Tell us what happened!" Eden says excitedly. 

"Everything?" I ask amused. 

"Everything" Cole says grinning at me. 

"Well, I was in hell for about a day and then God showed up and made a deal with Lucifer for me to come back to heaven with him and Lucifer agreed so I went back with God and he offered my my angel wings back and also the position of Charlie's guardian angel. I then spent the next week training until today when God said I was really to come to earth and now I'm here" I say grinning. 

"Shit man! Guardian angel!" Cole says grinning. 

"Yeah. Oh and about that. God is offering you the position of Eden's guardian angel if you want it too?" I continue, my smile widening. 

"Are you serious?" Cole asks shocked. 

"Dead serious. If you say yes, I have to take you up to heaven and you'll have to spend about a week training before you can come back to earth but it'll be worth it". I watch as he looks over to Eden in approval and she grins and kisses him. 

"I would love for you to be my angel bub" she says grinning. 

"Okay. I accept the position" he says grinning. 

"Good. I'll take you up a little later then" I reply grinning. He nods grinning before kissing Eden on the cheek. 

"So what do you think made God want you back in heaven?" Eden asks curiously. 

"I think it was because I sacrificed my life, but then again, it could have been something else. I really don't know" I say smiling. They both nod and we are all silent for a moment. 

"You know you're going to have to face Charlie at some point right?" Cole says concerned. 

"I know. She'll be able to feel me so I wouldn't be surprised if she comes today" I reply sighing. 

"It'll be okay Ryder" Eden says smiling. 

"How do you know? She probably hates me" I say, the sadness creeping back in. 

"She doesn't hate you Ryder. She hasn't yet forgiven you but she doesn't hate you". 

"Okay" I reply as I run my hands through my hair. 

Suddenly, there is a knock on the door and a warm chill runs down my spine. 

"Charlie" we all say simultaneously. 

Fuck.

~ Charlie's POV ~

It's been about a week since the whole Knox ordeal and I miss Ryder so much. We all do. 

For the past week, Cole has told the office that Ryder is sick and can't make it to school, all of us praying that somehow he comes back. But sadly, we all know that that probably won't happen. 

So Cole will have to unenroll Ryder and make up some excuse about why he is pulling out. I sigh as the final bell rings and say goodbye to Eden before getting into my truck and heading to work. I miss him so much. 

I still feel so empty, like I'm missing part of my heart or something. This week has been long and I'm glad it's finally Friday. I love James, he is one of the only things that has gotten me through this week. 

Mum thinks I should go back and see Dr Parken but I don't want to. I sigh and my thoughts disappear as I arrive at work.

I hiss with pleasure as a warm sensation rushes through my chest. Suddenly, I no longer feel empty which is strange. Did God take away my ability to have a mate? 

Did something happen to Ryder? I shrug it off and look at the clock. Half an hour left of my shift. I decide that I'm going to go see Cole and ask him if he knows why I might be feeling this way. 

I sigh and get back to work.

Soon enough, my shift ends and I call my mum to let her know where I'm going before I sent off to Cole's house. As I get closer, I start to heat up more. 

What the fuck is happening? Am I getting sick? Is there someone new? I check my rearview mirror to make sure I'm not being followed and sure enough, I'm alone. I chuckle to myself. God, I'm so paranoid. 

I get to Cole's house and knock on the door. A familiar shiver runs down my spine, confusing me. Is Ryder here? No. He can't be, right? He sold himself to the devil so he can't be here. 

The door opens and I am greeted by a grinning Cole and Eden. Geez, what's made them so happy? 

"What's made you so happy?" I ask smirking. 

"Oh, nothing" Cole says innocently as he invites me in. 

"Okay?" I reply confused. 

"So Cole, the reason I'm here is because during my shift today, I suddenly st-" I start as we walk into the living room but what I see makes me stop dead in my tracks. There, on the couch, is Ryder. 

My jaw drops open and I stand there watching him but he doesn't make eye contact. Instead, he looks at the floor and plays with his hands. 

"Ryder?" I whisper. He looks up at me and it is clear that he is terrified. 

"Wh-but-wha-hmmm" I managed to stuff out. Cole smirks and I glare at him. I crouch down next to Ryder and gently touch his arm. He is definitely real. 

"How are you here?" I asked shocked. Everything is silent for what seems like forever before he finally talks. 

"God saved me and brought me back to heaven. He made me your guardian angel, that's why I'm here" he replies quietly. 

Oh shit. I turn around to talk to Cole but Cole and Eden are no longer in the room. The sneaky bastards. Looks like I have to do this by myself. 

I sigh and stand back up before walking around him and sitting down next to him. I watch him for a moment, trying to think of a question. 

Here goes nothing I guess.

Ryder's back!!! Did you miss him haha? Sadly, this book is coming to an end and there is probably only going to be two or three more chapters after this. Like my other books, I've grown very attached to this book and so it coming to an end is upsetting haha. But don't worry, because I will still be updating 'His Deaf Luna' after I finish this one and then I will be starting a new book too!
