~ Charlie's POV ~

I gasp harshly as I suddenly regain consciousness. I quickly sit up and proceed to vomit up stomach acid. 

I thought I died? How am I alive? I feel super dizzy but I manage to focus my eyes and I see Cole and Eden sitting in front of me with worried expressions. I look around and Ryder and Knox are nowhere to be seen. 

"What are Ryder and Knox?" I ask weakly as another way of dizziness hits me. I watch as Eden and Cole look at each other for a moment before looking back at me. 

"We can't tell you here. It's not safe" Cole starts and I give him a confused look. 

"We're going to take you back to my place and I'll explain everything there because you're weak and we can't stay here". I nod as Cole scoops me up in his arms and carries me to the car while Eden grabs some stuff from the ground before following close behind us. 

It feels weird to be carried in someone else's arms. I miss Ryder. We make it to his car and he goes to put me inside when I stop him. 

"What about my truck?" I ask him quietly. 

"Don't worry, Eden will drive it back. She'll also call both your mum and hers and tell them that you two are staying the night at my place" he says with a small smile. I nod and he puts me in the car before grabbing my keys from me and handing them to Eden. 

He gently kisses her before getting into the car too. He buckles me in as I sit slumped against the door before heading out of the parking lot and to his house.

He sets me gently down on the couch in the lounge as Eden rushes in with a glass of water and blankets. She wraps me in the blankets before handing me the glass which I eagerly gulp down. 

She gives me a small smile before sitting on the floor in front of me. Cole then sits down next to her and they exchange glances. 

"Is someone going to tell me what happened back there?" I ask nervously. Eden nods and looks at Cole. Cole sighs and looks at me with a worried expression. 

"Before I tell you, you have to trust that what I'm saying is one hundred percent real. It may not seem real, but you have to believe me" he says nervously. I nod slowly, slightly confused. 

"I didn't believe him at first either but you have to trust and believe him Charlie" Eden adds, grabbing my hand gently. I nod and turn my attention back to Cole. 

"Okay, ummm, do you believe in heaven and hell Charlie?" he asks nervously. I nod silently. 

"Do you believe in angels and demons?". I nod once again. 

"Well, ummm, I don't really know how to put this, but ummm, all of those things are actually real". My mouth drops open. No, how can that be? 

"I know it seems impossible but I promise you I'm telling the truth". I nod slowly as I try to process what he has said. 

"Now ummm, when an angel has done something bad or has betrayed God, he bans them from heaven, takes their wings and casts them down to earth. These ummm, angels that walk the earth are called fallen angels. And ummm, that's what Ryder and I are" he says nervously. 

My mouth drops open. Fuck, I've been dating an angel?! 

"Now ummm, when the fallen get to earth, they grow new wings, except these ones are black. They can't feel anything and all they want to do is get their feelings back. So in order to do that, they need to kill their vessel. The vessel is a race that is half human, half angel because long ago, God cast a fallen down to earth and the angel decided to start a new race so he had a child with a human and this created Nephilim."

"Nephilim was seen as disgusting and not pure so God wanted them gone. He gave to fallen the opportunity to feel again by giving them Nephilim to kill. If they did this, they would become a human and lose their wings but never be allowed in heaven again. Nowadays, there are four angels to one vessel because God wanted to make it harder for the fallen to become human." 

"Usually, Nephilim vessels are men but sometimes the gene is present in some females and usually that means that the fallen have to kill the man but if original vessel dies before a fallen can find them, the position of vessel is passed onto their first female descendant" he continues before pausing, grimacing before looking at me. 

"Please don't freak out but your grandfather was a Nephilim vessel, so was your father and so are you". I stare at him in shock. I'm half angel. Is that why Ryder called me angel all the time? Because he knew? 

"I'm half angel?" I say quietly, still staring at him. 

"Yeah, and so is Eden". 

"So who are the fallen that were after my grandfather?" I ask nervously. I watch as Cole sighs and Eden rubs his back. 

"Ace, a guy called Zach, Knox, and umm Ryder," he says nervously, avoiding my eye contact. Fuck! 

"Except your grandfather died before any of them fell so they couldn't hurt him" he continues nervously. Suddenly something clicks. 

"They-they need to kill me now don't they? If they want to feel" I say tears running from my eyes. Coles nods and Eden squeezes my hand. 

"Ryder wants to kill me. That's why he wanted to get close to me!" I shout, pain shooting through my chest. 

"No Charlie, that's the thing. He was protecting you" Cole says quickly. 

"What do you mean?" I ask confused. 

"Well ummm, every once and awhile the occurrence of human mates happen. Mates are like soulmates and every angel has one except sometimes angels have a human mate rather than an angel one. And this is the case with Ryder and you. Yes, he wanted to kill you originally but as soon as he saw you, everything changed. He wouldn't dare to even hurt you and that's why none of the other angels apart from Knox have hurt you. He killed them before they could touch you" he says with a small smile. 

Eden kisses him on the cheek and I give him a funny look. 

"It's the same for Eden and I too. She was originally my vessel but because she's my mate, I couldn't ever hurt her. I killed all the other fallen before they could hurt her too". I nod as the information sinks in. 

"So how do you kill a fallen?" I ask weakly. "You cut their wings off, stab them through the heart and burn them on a mausoleum. From there, they are sent to hell" Eden says quietly. 

"Is that what happened to Knox?" I ask nervously. She nods with a small smile. 

"So where is Ryder?" I ask, becoming scared. 

"Ummm well, Knox shot you Charlie. You were dying" Cole starts, looking pained. 

"So in order to give you a second chance, he sold his life to the devil to heal you". My mouth drops open. Ryder did that to save me? 

"Before he left with Lucifer, he said we should take care of you, tell you everything and tell you that he's sorry" Eden adds, a tear rolling down her cheek. 

"Why is he sorry?" I ask shaking. Eden and Cole exchange looks before Eden nods at him and he turns to me. 

"Because he's the reason your father is dead" he says quietly. What?! Anger boils within me as hot tears run down my face. 

"What?!" I ask quietly. 

"It was an accident Charlie. He was stupid and as soon as he fell, he sort out the first descendant of your grandfather, which was your dad. He didn't know it had to be the first female one. He killed your father but instantly knew he had killed the wrong person."

"He then came and found me and poured his heart out about how he killed an innocent man. He want to kill you next but when he saw you, he couldn't. He instantly fell in love with you and felt horrible because he is the reason your father is dead. He's been fucked up ever since."

"He would come home every day after school and cut himself, take pills and drink till he was unconscious. He tortured himself, he caused himself pain because he knows he can't die. He hated himself for killing your dad, he still does. That's why he sold his life to the devil. To give you a second chance because you don't deserve any of this" Cole says hoarsely. 

"He wanted to get out of your life because he would cause you pain. He knew you would hate him and he hated that. He loved you Charlie and he hated that he hurt you" Eden adds weeping. 

At this point I'm crying my eyes out because I want to hate him but I can't. I love him too much. I should hate him for killing my dad but he saved me. He gave his life to save me. 

"I-I don't hate him" I choke out in between sobs. 

"I love him too much to hate him. Yeah, I hate what he did and I can't forgive him easily but I don't hate him". Eden smiles and squeezes his hand again. 

"Does mum know about any of this?" I ask weakly. 

"Yeah. She knows about the Nephilim on your dad's side ever since she met him" Eden says quietly. 

"But Ryder went and saw your mum and told her everything. About killing your dad, being your mate, how he loves you. Everything" Cole adds. Shit. Why did she not tell me? 

"Ummm, do you guys mind if I have a moment to myself to call my mum?" I ask, trying to hold back the tears. They both nod before getting up and heading out of the room. 

I pull my phone out of my pocket, unlock it and dial my mum's number.
