{Friday 7 July + Saturday 8 July}

~ Charlie's POV ~

"Sounds like you had a good time," my mum says grinning. I nod blushing and take a sip of my hot chocolate. 

"Anyway, you should go to bed hun, you have work in the morning" she continues, getting up off the couch. I nod and quickly finish my drink before heading upstairs and getting ready for bed. 

I slide into bed and snuggle under the covers, smiling. I feel myself drifting off into a peaceful sleep.

I wake up crying. I'm covered in sweat but I don't care. I reach over to my bedside table and grab my phone. I unlock it and dial his number before holding it to my ear, praying that he will pick up. 

First ring. Second ring. Finally, he picks up. 

"Morning Angel," Ryder says groggily through the phone. I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding. 

"You know it's four in the morning right? Did you miss me already?" he asks smirking. Suddenly, tears start streaming down my face as I remember the dream. I sniff, wiping them away, trying to be quiet so he wouldn't hear but it was too late. 

"Angel what's wrong," he asks, worry clearly present in his voice. 

"I had a dream that someone killed you," I say sniffling as the tears start to stream down my face again. 

"It was so real. It was like I was there and I couldn't do anything to help, he just killed you". 

"What did they look like," he asks wearily. 

"He was in dark jeans and no shirt and had big black wings coming out of his back. He looked like some kind of angel thing" I whisper in between sniffs. I hear shuffling in the back and start to wonder what he's doing. 

"Ryder" I whisper nervously. 

"Hmmm? Sorry, Angel. I'm coming to your house, gimme 10 minutes" he replies quietly before ending the call.

True to his word, Ryder pulls up in my driveway 10 minutes later. I wrap myself in blankets and pad down the hallway and stairs to the front door. I open the door quietly to reveal a worried Ryder standing on my doorstep. 

He walks in and I lock the door behind him and we make our way over to the couch. I turn a lamp on so it's not totally dark and sit down beside him. We sit in silence for a moment, his gaze fixed on me. 

The tears start to roll down my cheeks and he scoops me into his arms and holds me close. I snuggle into him, crying even harder as he rubs my back and massages my head. I eventually calm down until I am just sniffling again and he kisses the top of my head. 

"Is this normal?" he asks quietly. I nod and look up at him. 

"The dreams started when my dad died, I'd have them every single night" I start in between sniffs. 

"The day I met you was the last night I had one, the night after that was the first peaceful night I've had in two weeks. But tonight I had one again, except it was slightly different. Usually, it's the same dream over and over again but this time it was different". 

"What happened in the first dream?" Ryder asks holding me tighter. 

"I would always be attacked by a man dressed in all black and he would talk to me inside my head before attacking me and I would wake up screaming or crying" I whisper, tears threatening to fall. 

"And the second one?" He asks carefully, sensing I'm on the verge of tears again. 

"This time it was some angel thing that killed you and I could only stand there and watch and then he killed me too. I woke up crying" I whisper as tears stream down my face again. 

"Shhhhh Angel, don't cry, it's okay. I promise, you're safe with me" he replies reassuringly. I nod and try to calm myself down, eventually succeeding. 

I suddenly feel very sleepy and I snuggle into Ryder, trying to absorb as much of his warmth as possible. I shiver and he stands up with me still in his arms and carries me quietly to my bedroom. 

Fuck, this is the first time his seeing my room and I'm a blubbering mess. I feel slightly self-conscious as he sets me down on the bed before going and closing the door. 

"Get into bed Angel. Stay warm" he says quietly. I do as he says as he walks back over to me and places his wallet, phone, and keys on my bedside table before climbing into bed with me. 

I blush but quickly brush it off when he pulls me into him. I feel safe. I sigh and snuggle into him. 

"Ryder?" I whisper. 

"Mmhhh?". 

"How long will you stay?". 

"Until you fall asleep or till 6 if you don't end up falling asleep" he replies, resting his chin on the top of my head. 

"How will you get out my house if I fall asleep?". 

"The window," he says with a small smile. 

"Are you sure?". 

"Yeah, I used to do it at my old house all the time, it was very similar to yours so I'll be fine" he replies holding me closer. I nod and snuggle back into him. 

I feel myself drifting off again, feeling a lot safer than the first time.

~ Ryder's POV ~

I watch as she quickly falls asleep in my arms. Fuck! The last angel is here, on earth. I need to find him but I don't think he's in town yet. 

I'll have to let Cole know that there is someone here. I watch as Charlie rolls over and pulls my face towards hers. She kisses me and I chuckle. 

"Thank you" she whispers, half asleep, before rolling back over. I snuggle into her, resting my head on her pillow.

It took Charlie about an hour to fall asleep. She woke up in tears twice because of the dream but now she is finally asleep, snuggled in my arms. Every time she woke up, I would comfort her and kiss her back to sleep. 

It's kind of amazing really, being able to hold her and look after her after only ask her to be my girlfriend earlier in the night. It's about five in the morning now and I'm really tired, but I know if I fall asleep then I won't wake up before six to leave in time. 

I should probably go soon, to make sure I catch Cole before he heads off to his morning shift at the diner. I slowly start to get up, sliding my arm out as slowly as I can, trying not to wake my sleeping angel. 

I almost succeed but I pull my hand out slightly too fast, causing Charlie to stir and roll towards me, half awake. 

"Why must you go, Ryder? I feel safe when you're around" she whispers, closing her eyes and snuggling back into me. 

"Because your mum will kill us both if I am in here when she wakes up" I whisper back, smiling down at her. She groans and rolls out of my arms. 

"Imma miss you, I'm scared I'll have the dream again" she whispers still half asleep. 

"I know Angel, I'm sorry. But if you have the dream, I'm only a call away so don't hesitate to give me a yell" I whisper back. She nods and pulls me back into her. She kisses me and it takes all my strength to break away. 

"I have to go, Angel. I'm sorry. I'll see you in a few hours though, I promise" I reply kissing her forehead. 

"Go back to sleep Charlie". She nods and smiles up at me before closing her eyes and rolling over. I grab my stuff from her bedside table and walk over to her window. I open the window and give her one last look before climbing out, closing the window and jumping down to the ground. 

Gotta love being an angel, means you can fall from high places and it doesn't hurt you. I walk to my car, my senses heightened but I couldn't feel anyone around. 

I get into my car and drive home in the peaceful silence, watching the dawn break.

I walk into the kitchen as Cole is having his breakfast. He gives me a confused look as I walk in and sit down. 

"Where were you mate?" he asks after finishing his mouthful. 

"Charlie's. She's having the dreams again. The last one is on earth, I don't know where but he's not here. She keeps having the same dream of me being killed by the last angel before the angel kills her. This one's stronger than the others, I can already tell" I reply quietly, running my hands over my face. 

"Shit. Well, we've just got to protect her then" he says, looking at me with a worried expression. I nod and rest my head in my hands. 

"Got to bed mate, you look shattered" Cole continues in between mouthfuls of cereal. I nod and get up in silence and drag myself back to my room. I fall onto my bed and instantly fall asleep.

~ Charlie's POV ~

I stir, rolling over and stretching as my alarm aggressively beeps at me. I grab my phone and turn off my alarm before dragging myself to the shower. I managed to sleep the rest of the night without having the dream but I was still scared shitless. 

I let the warmth wash over me before getting out and putting on some jeans and an oversized sweater. I head downstairs and scoff some breakfast before heading out the door to my car. I get to work reasonably quickly to be greeted by a cheerful Mrs Shelby. 

She instantly brightens my mood and I start my shift by serving customers.

I continue to look at the time as it gets closer and closer to my break. I have to work a double shift today because one of our worker's wife just had a baby and he is on paternal leave but I wasn't complaining because having the extra money is nice. 

I start to restock the food cabinet when the door opens and Ryder walks, a smile painted on his lips. I smile back, blushing slightly. 

Fuck, I'm really falling for him. It's like there's some weird connection between us that I can't quite explain. I continue to work until the clock reads midday before walking over to Ryder and sitting down at the table. 

"Good afternoon Angel," Ryder says grinning. I smile and greet him back. I watch as his expression changes into one of concern. 

"How'd you sleep?" he asks nervously. 

"I didn't have the dream again" I reply with a small smile. He nods, his smile returning. 

"That's good. So, what would you like to eat Angel?" he asks warmly. 

"Ummm" I mumble, stopping to think. 

"A ham and cheese croissant and an iced mocha please" I continue grinning. He nods chuckling before getting up to order. I turn around and watch him order, grinning stupidly. 

I still can't my head around the fact that he's my boyfriend. Eden wasn't wrong when she said he was sexy. He was, in fact, super handsome and getting to draw him topless was next level insane. 

He walks back over and sits down, grinning. I look him over, still grinning. I wish I could draw him more in art class but this week we have actual models coming in for us to draw. 

Oh, fuck! School. The word hits me like a tonne of bricks, causing my smile to disappear. 

"What's wrong, Angel?" Ryder asks with a worried look on his face. 

"School" I reply nervously. 

"What about school baby?". 

"People". 

"People?". 

"Yes, Ryder people. People are going to see us together. We're a couple now, I'm dating the most popular guy in school, that's not going to go down well" I reply, finally making eye contact. 

"You know I'll look after you right?" he says with a small smile. 

"I know but what about Victoria. Eden said something about her having her hands all over you" I reply quietly. He grabs my hand from across the table. 

"Charlie, are you jealous?" he asks smirking. 

"No" I reply pouting, trying really hard not to smile. 

"I'll take care of her, don't you worry you're beautiful mind Angel," he says smiling. 

"Okay," I mumble, feeling uneasy. Our food arrives and we eat in a comfortable silence, making eye contact ever so often. We finish and I take the dishes to the kitchen before coming and sitting back down. 

"When does your break finish Angel?" Ryder asks smiling. 

"Five minutes" I reply with a sad smile. 

"Okay, well I'll see you on Monday beautiful," he says grinning. I nod and smile back at him. 

"Oh, ummm what part of your car were you last working on?" he asks curiously. 

"The brakes. We need new brake pads and dad was going to order them that night but" I say quietly, trying to hold myself together. He nods and holds my hand. 

"Cause I'm going away this evening, I'll be back tomorrow night so I'll get you some brake pads," he says, a smile tugging at his lips. 

"Where are you going," I ask, a smile turning to my face. 

"Cole and I are going to Calborough to see an old family friend and to pick up some parts for Cole's car that I'm also restoring, so it will be no trouble to get you some brake pads too," he says grinning. I nod, smiling and rub nervous circles into his hand. 

"It's going to be okay Angel, I'm only a call away so don't be afraid to call" he starts, giving me a reassuring look. 

"And if that means calling or video chatting until you fall asleep then that's perfectly fine". I nod and smile before checking the time. 

Fuck, my break is over. Why does time always have to cut in on the good moments? I notice Ryder glance at the time too and he gets up, dragging me out of my chair with him and into a hug. I snuggle into him. 

"Please be safe," I say quietly. 

"I will," he says, kissing the top of my head. I pull away smiling before grabbing his hand and walking him to the door. He gives me another reassuring look before kissing me, blush rising to my cheeks. 

"I'll text you when I'm finished," I say quietly. He nods and kisses me again, smiling into the kiss. I eventually pull away and stare up into his big brown eyes smiling. He grins down at me, squeezing me tightly. He eventually lets me go and my smile disappears. 

"No Angel, keep smiling. You're smile is beautiful, plus, I won't be gone that long" he says pouting. My smile returns because he looks adorable when he pouts. He chuckles and starts to head out the door, sending me one last glance. 

"Bye Angel" he says grinning. 

"Bye Ryder" I reply grinning back. I watch as he walks out the door and to his car before heading back to work. I walk behind the counter and join Mrs Shelby. She gives me a huge grin and I return it with a confused look. 

"What?" I ask, smiling. 

"I see someone's falling hard" she replies grinning. I blush and look down at my feet. 

"How much of that did you see" I ask awkwardly. 

"Most of it. You guys are really cute. It seems like he really likes you" she continues, grinning even more. I blush harder and finally make eye contact with you. 

"You're a funny one Charlie. He seems like a good one, don't let him go". I nod and get back to my work, still madly blushing. 

Trust my boss to embarrass me, I swear she's just as bad as mum sometimes.
