Dramatic entrance
I wake up in a state of confusion, my body aching from a brutal fall. My eyes open to a sky tinged with red, framed by a mysterious pentacle. Every fiber of my being screams in pain as I struggle to recover from the violent impact on the hard, cold ground. Slowly regaining consciousness, I incredulously realize that I am looking at my new body through the nearby window.
A sigh of relief escapes my lips as I notice the familiar details composing me. They respected my preferences, my style. Clad in a red and black pin-up dress, adorned with delicate lace and a swirling petticoat, I feel almost grateful despite the confusion reigning within me. My feet are encased in shiny black ballet flats, my long striped socks adding a playful touch to my appearance. And there, draped over my shoulders, my favorite red leather jacket, faithful companion to so many adventures, bearing witness to who I am.
I take a deep breath to calm the frantic beats of my heart as I strive to rearrange my tousled, light brown hair, now framing my transformed face. The contemplation of my new form, part-cat, part-human, leaves me in awe despite the lingering, throbbing pain in my body. My large black ears, my undulating cat tail, my gleaming fangs, and sharp claws... Every detail of my metamorphosis fascinates, terrifies, and marvels me all at once.
However, amidst this whirlwind of conflicting sensations, a thought strikes me like lightning. My necklace! My precious necklace, laden with memories and meanings, seems to have vanished in the twists and turns of my transformation. A shiver of anxiety runs down my spine as I embark on a frantic quest to find this object dear to my heart, a flicker of hope wavering in the darkness of the unknown that surrounds me.
I nervously scan the surroundings, my eyes falling upon an abandoned bag not far from me. A glimmer of hope lights up in my heart as I hurriedly approach, hoping to find answers to my questions. My trembling fingers open the bag, and to my great surprise, I discover my own belongings inside. A sigh of relief escapes my lips as I eagerly seize my necklace, my precious necklace, finally found.
Without further ado, I put it around my neck, immediately feeling a sense of completeness wash over me. It's as if a part of myself that had been lost in the chaos of my transformation has finally been found.
I ponder the next steps for my new life, my thoughts swirling in my head as I leave the alley and venture into a bustling avenue teeming with demons. My eyes, once a deep brown, have taken on a crimson red hue, a change that, despite its unsettling nature, feels oddly welcoming to me. I can't help but smile briefly as I reminisce about the colored contact lenses I used to wear in my past life to achieve this effect, an irony of fate that amuses me.
I stop in the middle of the avenue, letting my thoughts wander toward the uncertain future that now awaits me. I am alone, without guidance or knowledge of this infernal universe surrounding me. To begin with, I must learn to navigate this new environment, to avoid the traps and dangers that lie ahead. But what to do next?
Suddenly, screams shatter the relative calm of the street, coming from an adjacent alley. My heart races as I hear a stranger pleading for freedom.
Stranger: "Val! Let me go! I don't want this."
Val: Oh, Angel Cake. I love it when you resist~
Angel: Val! No.
Determined to intervene, I grab a nearby stone and hurl it with all my strength towards the assailant.
Me: "Hey! You scumbag! He told you to let him go!"
My voice echoes in the alley, filled with contained fury. My heart pounds as I brace myself for the reaction from this individual named Val.
Relief floods over me as Val finally releases Angel, who passes by me, casting a grateful glance before running off. My heart still races with the adrenaline of the moment, but I know I've acted rightly.
I stand there, frozen for a moment, watching Angel disappear into the bustling street. Then, my attention shifts back to Val, whose face contorts with rage and surprise. A shiver of apprehension runs through me as I brace myself for his reaction.
Val: YOU! Who are you? Do you know who I am?
He stares at me intensely, trying to intimidate me, but his fierce gaze only makes me chuckle. Does he really think he can scare me? Ridiculous.
Me: "No? Are you the Queen of England?" I retort sarcastically.
My words seem to fuel his already boiling rage. He becomes mad with fury, rushing towards me in a desperate attempt to strike me. But his approach is slow, clumsy. I effortlessly dodge him, finding him pathetically predictable.
I slide the cherry-flavored lollipop into my mouth, relishing its sweet comfort as I mockingly wave goodbye to Val. He's so pathetic that I can't help but feel a mixture of contempt and amusement towards him.
Me: "Don't get yourself worked up, Romane, it's pointless," I murmur to myself as I head towards the exit of the alley.
But Val, in a fit of rage, tries to attack me from behind. His clumsiness almost makes me laugh. With a daring somersault, I evade his assault and notice a reddish smoke emanating from him. A mischievous idea sprouts in my mind. Perhaps I could have a little fun after all.
I hold my breath just before the smoke reaches me, then, determined, I run towards him. With a spinning kick, I send him crashing against the wall, freeing up the passage to finally exit this narrow alley.
Once outside, I finally catch my breath, but I feel Val's dark gaze weighing on me. Round 2? However, a crowd begins to form around us, and it makes me uneasy. What if I'm recognized? What if I'm not? My heart races as I panic inwardly.
Despite the palpable tension, I remain calm, observing the spectators' reactions as they flee at the sight of Val. Their fear seems ridiculous to me, but I strive to keep my cool and smile as I prepare to face whatever may come next.
Val points at me angrily.
Val: "You'll pay for this."
Me: "Uh... sorry, I don't have any money," I retort sarcastically.
In a desperate move, Val pulls out a gun and fires point-blank at me. His face lights up with a triumphant smile, but his joy is short-lived as I skillfully dodge each bullet with astonishing agility.
Suddenly, an idea strikes me. Perhaps it's time to give him a little "combat lesson." I take a deep breath, letting a mischievous smile stretch across my lips.
Me: "Do you know why I'm going to beat you and kick your butt?" I tease.
Val stares at me incredulously, bewildered by my words. Seizing his confusion, I rush towards him with surprising speed. Startled by my swiftness and precision, he quickly retreats, narrowly avoiding my punch.
Me: "Firstly, you're slow and too noisy," I taunt him with a smirk.
He reacts by grabbing a knife concealed on his thigh, tossing his gun aside, and lunging at me to stab. What an idiot, why didn't he reload his gun!?
I easily disarm Val and deliver a blow to his stomach.
Me: "Secondly, you're using the wrong weapons... You should've kept your gun to keep me at a distance," I comment mockingly.
Val desperately tries to grab me with his six hands, but to no avail. Fear and anger rise within me, causing my claws and fangs to emerge. I feel my control slipping, but then I suddenly recall rule number 1: do not kill.
I make an effort to calm myself, knowing that if I hit too hard, I could kill him. I breathe deeply, attempting to control the rage boiling inside me.
Val attacks again, but I see it coming from afar and can easily dodge his blows. However, a strange sensation suddenly courses through me, as if someone is silently calling me. Without really thinking, I extend my hand and summon my trusty scythe, a smile spreading across my face. I realize then that I haven't lost everything.
Me: "Thirdly, you have no technique, you have very poor balance, and no brute strength," I taunt him sarcastically.
With a precise movement, I deliver a powerful blow with the non-sharp edge of my scythe. Val is violently thrown against a nearby building. A shiver of panic runs through me as I realize that my strength seems to have increased since my transformation. I just hope I haven't killed him.
However, a crowd of fearful gazes fixates on me, their palpable fear hanging in the air. I'm overwhelmed with a sense of despair. No, I don't want them to be afraid of me. I need to leave.
Me: "Well, class dismissed... um... bye!" I hastily shout before darting away, fleeing from the gathering crowd. I realize then that perhaps I've put myself in a precarious situation by fighting with Val. I sincerely hope I'm wrong.
