Fill My Cup, Please.
Im tired of giving my water to people that will only take advantage.
They pierce my soul with the eyes of need and say: "Little sister, can you please spare me just one little sip of your sweet water? Oh, how I need it so badly. Fill my cup, please."
I stare into their faces; with their lips chapped with thirst and need, and I fill the small cup with what they asked for.
They turn the cup up to their mouth and they throw their heads black, enjoying the water.
Suddenly, their heads are lifted, and their steps are more powerful.
They bid me farewell and they walk away.
My cup becomes low as people continuously return, (the old and some new) sipping from my glass.
The liquid quickly decreases with each sip.
One day, there was nothing left to sip upon.
Sure, that glass was full at one point. It quenched the thirst of many.
They felt good.
They felt rejuvenated.
But not once did they think:
"The more that I sip, the more empty she'll be."
People love my juice -but I'm tired of giving it up.
I'm tired of giving it up to my own blood.
I'm tired of giving it away to those that I am afraid of losing.
You took sips from me and left me empty,
but I can only get a dry well from you.
If I'm lucky, I can wet my tongue with the leaky faucet.
But wait! No, wait!
I should just shush and be grateful for the things! Yes, the things!
Be grateful and give credit where it's due!
I must owe them my water.
Right?
Right.
Stimulate them for that moment.
Give them your water.
Even if you have none left, strain yourself and find more to give.
Wear yourself out until you can't figure out why they've left you, (again.)
Then, I'll be more insane than I already am.
