Teen!Sesshomaru || Teenage Years
Lord Sesshomaru from Inuyasha
Demons. They were a part of life in the Edo Era, as it would later be called. No one knew exactly where they came from or when they came to exist. But as time past, the demons became less and less hostile. It was the humans that were becoming more harsh.
You were still young, but you could still see the change in the humans. They would attack the weaker demons for no reason at all, and then beg demons to held them with other problems they're not strong enough to handle. The humans sickened you, even if you were one yourself.
You spent more time with demons than humans. You didn't live in a town, but in the woods. You made friends with the demons of the forest that took care of you from the humans that called you a traitor. You were attacked by them all the time, the second you were left alone; your hut was burnt down, rocks were thrown at you from children hiding behind trees, and you were banned from all the villages in the area. But you didn't mind, you didn't want to spend time around them.
Today, you were picking herbs for an injured monkey demon. A villager had attacked it when it was hunting for food in the woods. Its mother brought the little guy to you, begging you for help; of course you couldn't turn them down.
Your hunt for the herbs however brought you to deeper into the woods than you hoped for, and it was getting late. You stood up straight and looked around, trying to find your way back home.
"Ugh, I'm such a klutz! I should have paid more attention to where I was going!"
"Do humans always talk to themselves when they're alone?"
You squeaked and turned around, not wanting to deal with people now. But instead of seeing the normal brown eyes of the humans, you were met with gold. A young man, about your age, was standing there. His long, silver hair was pulled back into a tie high on his head and his bands hung neatly on his forehead, allowing you to see the crescent moon on his forehead.
"Who are you?" You asked, tilting your head slightly.
"This Sesshomaru could be asking you the same thing. You are in my lands."
You covered your mouth to stop your laugh, but it didn't help. The laugh built inside you before you could stop it.
"Human, why are you laughing?" The young demon frowned, confused by your strange behavior.
"You!"
"Me?"
"The way you called yourself 'This Sesshomaru' was one of the funniest things I've ever heard!" You held your sides as they started to hurt from your laughter. You knew you were being rude at the moment, but you couldn't help yourself. This guy was very arrogant for his age and you thought it was funny.
A low growl started to build up in his chest. "Silence, girl, or I will kill you."
You raised your hands slightly, still chuckling a bit. "Sorry, sorry, I don't mean to offend you. It was just the first time I had heard someone refer to themself like that."
"Hmph. Just leave now before I change my mind about letting you live." He turned his back to you, but kept his head turned to watch you with one eye.
"I can't leave yet! I need to find an herb for one of my friends!"
"There's only demon herbs in these lands, it won't help-"
"And my friend is a demon."
The shocked look on his face was priceless, not something you expected to see often from him. He stayed near you after that, watching you look for the herbs for a while before sighing and walking away, with you following right after him. He lead you to a field that was filled with every type of herb you could imagine. Your eyes widened as you looked around at everything, hardly believing your eyes.
"This is my father's land; get what you need then leave."
You smiled at him, feeling like you just bonded with this young demon.
And you did. After you left him that day, you found him in the area around your hut more often than not. He joined the small parties that your demon friends threw for you; you always asked him to dance with you, enjoying the uncharacteristic blush that crept onto his cheeks.
You found out much about young Sesshomaru. He was very caring(even if he hid it well), he was very protective, how strong and powerful he was for his age, his royal heritage; you learned it all. And you loved it all. You loved every part of him...
And he loved you. He said so the day you two were married when you were nineteen. All your demon friends had attended the castle in the Western Lands for your wedding, as well as Sesshomaru's father and his family. Your new mother in law attended just to confirm that her cold hearted son really did have feelings for a human. She couldn't understand what he saw in you, but she did not say anything negative to you.
Sesshomaru and you had lived a happy life together, having many children together and adopting a few as well.
You stood on the balcony of your castle, staring down at your children playing in the courtyard below. An arm wrapped around your waist, a head resting on your shoulder. A lovingly familiar voice speaking into your ear.
Oh, how grateful you were to go pick herbs that one day in your teenage years.
