Boris Airay || Protective Kitty
Boris Airay from Alice in the Country of Hearts series
Why was this happening to you...? All you wanted was a nice and quiet afternoon in the town, visiting some stores and buying things. But nope. You just had to walk into the middle of a faceless gang war and be taken as a hostage. It was times like these you really wished that you let your neko boyfriend teach you how to use a gun.
"Can I please go? I don't even know what's going on here." You said, sighing in boredom.
"Shut up, girly! You're with the enemy!"
"For the last time, I'm not...! I've never seen you people before...!"
You had no choice but to give up. They weren't listening to you. Great. You were probably going to get killed by them once they were through with you. ...Or you'd get blown up by the rival gang. Neither option was very appealing to you.
As you were trying to think of a way to get out of your situation, the door to the shop you were in opened up and a pink and purple punk neko boy stepped out.
"Yo~! (Y/N), want to-" Boris blinked as he looked around, not expecting his door to connect to a war zone. "...What are you bastards doing with her?"
Immediately, he transformed his gun into his hand, starting to shoot the faceless men. And of course, faceless don't stand a chance against a Role Holder.
Once they were all dead, Boris ran to you.
"(Y/N)! Are you okay? They didn't hurt you, right?"
"No, I'm fine. Thanks for the save."
He stared at you for a second then sighed and leaned his forehead against yours. "Geez, don't scare me like that...! I told you not to go into town without me, there's too many dangerous people...!"
You chuckled and reached your hands up to run through his hair. "Don't worry, Boris. I'm fine now. You came to save me."
"Yeah, but what would you do if I hadn't made it here in time? I just decided to ask if you wanted to get something to eat after the assembly...!"
"Oh, that would be nice actually! The assemblies normally go on for so long, I'm starved half way through."
"That's not the point!" He pouted at you with furrowed eyebrows, you couldn't help but chuckle and gently kiss his lips.
"Don't worry, Boris. Even if you don't always know when I'm in trouble, you still come to my rescue every time."
It was true. You got into trouble almost every week, and he always somehow found out and came to save you.
But you started worrying about him... Each time you would get hurt or captured or lost, parts of the punk neko you once knew left him. He wasn't so wild anymore, he didn't go looking for danger, and he hardly ever relaxed. You worried that you were changing him for the worse.
Don't get yourself wrong though, the first two changes weren't so bad. You were relieved you no longer had to worry about him running off with some faceless girl if he ever got bored with you. And you were glad you no longer found him beaten and bloody outside your room. But you hated to see him change so much he was no longer him.
You thought that you had ruined him... You destroyed him. You hated yourself for that... You hated yourself so much, you started crying yourself to sleep in the night periods. During the day periods, you just stayed in your room; and for the afternoon periods, you'd go to your job at the cafe. You no longer went exploring the area, you did everything possible to avoid trouble, hoping and praying that your neko would soon return to normal.
But if anything, watching your new habits only worried Boris more. He was worried for you, you weren't acting like yourself either. He went to check on you one night and heard you crying softly. He started to comfort you, but you demanded that he leave your room. The hurt on his face cut you deep to the core.
'It would be better if I just wasn't here anymore...' You thought, walking towards the Tower of Clover. 'Then he can go back to his normal self...'
And so, you went to find out how you could return to the world that you came from. Nightmare didn't want to help at first, but you had convinced him. This was for the greater good of Boris, and if he didn't help you, you'd find your own way out.
He gave you the 'medicine' that you were supposed to drink to leave. You took a breath, and placed the bottle to your lips. Just as you were about to drink it, it was gone from your hand. Your eyes widened as you looked up, seeing Boris standing there with tears in his eyes and holding the bottle.
"B-Boris...! What are you-"
"Nightmare told me! He told me that you were going to leave! Why? I thought you liked it here, I thought you loved me! So why are you trying to leave?!"
"I do! I love you so much! That's why I'm leaving! I don't want to go, but it's better for you if I'm no longer here!"
"What the hell is that supposed to mean?! It'll destroy me if you leave, why would you think otherwise?!"
"Because you're no longer you!" Tears filled your eyes as you looked away from him. "You changed after we started dating...! And don't even try to deny it! You just look so stressed out now, I can't stand it! So if I go back, then you can go back to your old self again, and fall in love with someone else... Someone you don't have to constantly try to protect."
He stared at you in shock, his eyes wide. He knew you've been upset about something lately, but he didn't know it was because of him. He sighed, kneeling down in front of you and taking your hands in his.
"I'm sorry... I didn't mean for you to feel like that. I just wanted you to be happy and safe. I didn't mean for you to feel bad that I was trying to protect you. Your life is so much more important than mine... I'd be lost if I didn't have you. I'll try and tone down the protectiveness if you want, just please... Please don't leave me..."
His last words were whispered, but you heard them. You looked into his golden eyes and smiled a bit, feeling a weight being lifted off your shoulders.
"I won't leave you. I'll never leave you. I'm so glad that I'm not ruining your life... You have no idea how happy that makes me...!"
He grinned and pulled you into a hug, leaving kisses all over your cheek. "I might have an idea~"
That night, he slept in your room to make sure you'd keep your promise. He didn't say so, but you could tell. The week afterward, you moved in with him.
He was still very protective of you. He no longer let you leave his sight, but you didn't really mind. Almost leaving had shaken you both up. You wanted him as close as possible now. Because he was your very protective (punk) kitty. It was simply who he was.
