Chapter 4 - Done With This
*Your POV*
"You're leaving?" Laurance said, pain obvious in his voice.
I didn't answer him. I shouldn't be mad at him, right? He didn't have a choice, but I just am.
"Why are you leaving? You think this would help?" He stormed inside, shutting the door. "What happens here, then? What about Kawaii~Chan, Aphmau, Donna and everyone else? Are you trying to--" I cut him off.
"I was..." I took a deep breathe. "Did they think twice when they left me and Eyanne out here?"
He froze. Realization hit him and he finally understood. "You know what I'm feeling, huh?" I looked away as soon as I realized he knew I was sensing him. "Heh..." He smiled sadly. "It's okay.."
I sighed. "I just want to escape from all... this." I gestured to everything.
"You're always like that." He laughed sadly. "That time when you...died...it wasn't easy, you know."
"You think it was easy for me?"
"Then...if you're going, I wanna come with you." He was hesitant.
"No, I get it. You're Aphmau's guard. You should stay with her." I continued on packing my things.
"I know I may seem unsure of this, but I want to. I don't want to leave you and I don't want you to leave me. I want to prove to you that you're worth it. I want to show you that you're not just someone to be left out to die just that for everyone else to be saved. You're worth trying to be saved. Risks don't need to matter because YOU matter. At least we could've taken the pride in saying 'at least we tried' and not just leaving you out to die." Laurance.
I don't know what came over me, but I just looked away, and nodded. Then I continued packing.
~
That night, we sneaked out of Phoenix Drop and into the Sacred Woods. I sensed to see if Hyria is watching us.
And as expected, she is.
"Hyria, I know you're there. Please show yourself." I say in the most polite way possible.
"What is it that you seek, (Y/n)? I don't see you often. And how come Aphmau isn't with you?" Hyria showed up behind us.
"We've been through some...issues."
"Issues, you say?" Hyria signaled me to continue.
And I explained everything, from them leaving us behind up to Eyanne...dying. And as expected, she wasn't really pleased. But she didn't say anything more to avoid interference.
And at the mention of what Aphmau did, she really felt betrayed. I'm surprised. Are they really that close? It's like, she didn't expect Aphmau to do that. In any case, she did let us through.
I didn't really know where to go to or anything. So I just told her to bring us to New Meteli. I'm not that known there, and Laurance said we could get some supplies from her sister there. I'm actually quite nervous. I haven't seen her in a while. And we aren't that close. Plus me and Laurance have a thing going on now. And I have no idea how she would take it.
"What's on your mind?" Zane appeared beside me.
"Oh, uh...nothing." I mumble.
"Hm..?" Laurance looked at me questioning what I just said.
"Zane." I said simply and he understood.
"What'd he say?" Laurance.
"He asked what I was thinking, and I told him it was nothing." I replied.
"And she lied." Zane.
"Shut up!" I hiss.
"What now?" Laurance.
"Tch." I was tired of explaining things back and forth. Wait...maybe I could...
I tried to use my sense magicks to let Laurance see and hear Zane. Although it's REALLY hard and tiring, I managed to do it. For sure I'll just get used to this sooner or later.
"Z-Zane?!" Laurance's eyes practically bulged out. Which would be creepy if it happened, by the way.
"You can see me?!" Zane. Obviously he thought that he was free. But sadly, no. I should probably tell them...huh?
"I didn't know my sense magicks was this convenient." I said, amused.
"Oh..." Zane said, somewhat both disappointed that he wasn't free but at the same time, thankful. "Wait, so you can let others see me now?!"
"Sure. If I have the energy to. It's all still new so kinda tiring at first." I explain.
"T-Thanks.." He mumbles, in which I just reply with a smile.
"Either way, (Y/n), what do you plan on doing after we leave New Meteli?" Laurance asked.
I froze. I actually...don't know. And I can't turn back now, I don't want to. "Maybe we could just..be outcasts." I shrugged, trying to act casual.
"Outcasts? Like, those camps?" Laurance.
"Yeah..like those." I mutter. I mean, it won't be that bad, right? I mean, sure the villages in the Phoenix Alliance would recognize me, but they don't have the right to just take me and Laurance back to Phoenix Drop.
"I mean, it's not really a bad idea." Zane.
"When did you have a say in this?" Laurance snapped. What the..?
"Why shouldn't I?" Zane shot back.
"Guys!" I stopped them before they could even start. "Now isn't the time. And what you're fighting about doesn't even make sense."
They just roll their eyes and continue on. It'll be such a joy to have them around, huh?
*Aaron's POV*
I watched as both Laurance and (Y/n) go into the woods. Why'd I not stop them? Because they have the right to. Should I remain here, still? I don't really know..
I looked at Sly. He hasn't moved from where he was.
He got up, well, until now. I followed him into the woods til we got to a treehouse....and there I saw Eyanne's grave..
Carved in the wood, it said: "You smiled through anything, you were my strength. Forever in my heart, Eyanne. -(Y/n). " I looked down. Sly was laying next to the grave.
"So this was where (Y/n) buried her, huh?" I turned to see Malachi. "Hey, hope it doesn't bother you that I followed you and Sly here."
I nodded. Malachi and I don't really talk much. It's not like there's anything to say, though.
"I should have at least tried and save her.." He buried half his face in his mask. "You would have done it. And you're not even close to her. Even if (Y/n) wasn't there, you would have. You would have saved anyone. Not let them die for the sake of everyone. You would have risked yourself for anyone to be saved." I could see tears stream down his cheeks. I didn't know what to say. I didn't have to say anything. "You think she's watching us from out there? Maybe she's like Zane? Maybe she's somewhere, as a ghost."
"Ghosts only exist as spirits who aren't at peace in their death." I say. "Although, not every death lets them become ghosts. If it were to, then I would have my family here as a ghost by my side."
He looked shocked, as if this was the first time I've talked. Well, I couldn't blame him.
He sighed. "Well, afterlife or whatever, I just want to say this. Eyanne, if you can hear me..." He was crying. "I'm sorry..... I'm so so so sorry..." He kept wiping his tears with his sleeves. He looks so vulnerable. He wasn't about to break, he already did. He knelt before the grave. "I'm gonna be honest, I never did fall for you, but you were an amazing friend and if I could do anything, freaking anything to bring you back, I would. You won't be forgotten..." He finished before he walked away, tears still staining his cheeks.
"Eyanne..." I mutter, running my hands through the carvings of the tree. We weren't really close, but as I can tell from everyone who knew her, she was amazing.
But enough grievances. She wouldn't want that. I know I wouldn't if I were to die, I'd want those I love to go on. If only (Y/n) could see that...
[ Currently watching Fairy Tail so updates are slow. Please understand that. Anime comes first, and breaks make up my writing time.
