My Dark Side

Chapter 1 - The New Ones are Always the Weird Ones

*Your POV*

I was done with the dishes and just went straight for my bed. Seriously, those days without this majestic creature are such miracles for me. How did I manage to survive without my bed?

It seems that I have forgotten to mention, I still live in Phoenix Drop and Aphmau FINALLY came up with the island's village name, Iraija. I decided to stay here in Phoenix Drop since it really is where I was accepted first. Plus, I love it here. These eight months of living here has been quite pleasant.

And Laurance? Well, he's in Iraija. He's still a guard to Aphmau and he insists so. Even Aaron is there. Seriously, Aaron really likes Aphmau. And I am not seeing this comfortably one bit.

"(Y/n)? Are you home? Oh, who am I kidding, you are!" Eyanne burst through the door with extreme excitement, Sly following behind her. Eyanne is this girl I met in the woods and well, she has issues.

"What's so special that you decide to disturb me and my bed's quality time?" I say, my face buried in my pillow.

"Malachi and the others are back!" Eyanne was referring to Malachi, Logan and Alexis who made trade with Scaleswind. They were gone for a while. And it's because they said they had some old refugees from O'khasis who just decided to move in Phoenix Drop. And of course, Levin agreed. I mean, what's new?

"And so?" My muffled voices she barely understood.

"Malachi's back!" I looked up at her. Her black roots were now down to her eyes and her white hair to her hips. She should dye her hair again, and cut it. Her grey eyes were glowing of excitement and stuff while mine was just plain lazy.

"I know you have a liking for Malachi, but I don't really care. Leave me alone." And with that, I bury my face back in my pillow.

"I hate you, you know?" But then she got a brainstorm, that OBVIOUSLY wasn't good for me. "But it's not like you can resist."

I groan. She was right. Ugh.

"Fine, fine.." I roll my eyes as I sat up.

"Really?!" She beamed then she got to the door. "You go get ready. I'll be waiting outside. No one wants to see you in your I-don't-care clothes." She teased and giggled then left.

I shake my head and smile. She's so excited that she can barely wait from outside. Good old sense magicks.

I put on my white long sleeves, jeans, then my leather black jacket which Eyanne infused Protection in it. Plus it has back holes (f/c) outlined in it for my wings. So far my favorite clothing. Plus, it's convenient.

I come out and find Eyanne ready to go. She seems too excited for someone who has a hopeless crush...

"You're really excited, huh? I mean, it's not like Malachi KNOWS you like him." I say.

"He does...But you said that he doesn't like anyone else, so maybe there's a chance! So let's go. Right now." Eyanne.

I take her hand and we fly to the docks.

"There he is!!" Eyanne almost jumped when he saw Malachi.

"You know what we talked about, keep your cool. You don't want him knowing you're weird, do you?" Me.

"Tch. Right. It's not like I'm trying to hide it from him, though." She then walks towards Malachi. I pity her. Malachi sees her as a great friend, but didn't think of her as more than just that. I don't hide her from this fact. But she still insists, though. "Hey, Malachi! How was your trip?"

I followed her towards them and saw people come down from the ship.

Speaking of the ship, Eyanne improvised and made it a whole lot bigger and better! She's like Chad, now. But necessary. [ PFFT! I'm sorry! ]

Most faces that came down from the ship were unfamiliar. Actually, I don't know any of them. Which is weird considering I've been to O'khasis many times. Even though I didn't usually get in the gates, me and Zane would climb up the walls and sit there looking out the village.

"(Y/n)? Who are these people?" Zane appeared beside me.

"May I ask, though. You said you can't distance yourself so much more than five feet from me. Why's it that you can go away?" Me.

"Oh, that? Well, whenever I do, I just go back to over there, where I died." He pointed just behind the docks. "Then it's the same thing, I can never go five feet away from that area, and no one can interact with me. It's kind of a convenient place, since it's so calming in this area." He shrugged. "So again, who are these people?"

"They said they were refugees from Phoenix Drop. Remember? When O'khasis was attacked by Tu'la?" Me.

"Oh yeah...well, I don't really recognize any of them. Though it's not like I went out as often for me to even recognize anyone. And speaking of Tu'la and O'khasis, what happened?"

"You really need to stick with me more." I shook my head. "Well, so far, the Phoenix Alliance are coming out once in a while to ensure things in the villages of the alliance. So far, none of the villages are being threatened, but Scaleswind really got it going. Fortunately, two barrier magicks users live there and the convenience is too much."

     "Well, that's good. What's O'khasis' state now?"

     "Do you know Ivy?"

"Well, duh. She's a member of the Jury of Nine."

"Apparently she's working for Tu'la now. And I suppose you're wondering, but there's no news on your parents."

He felt anguish, but tried to hide it.

"You know, you don't need to hide it. There's really no point."

"I liked you better when you didn't get to read out my emotions."

I laughed. "Maybe there'll be a chance we could try and find them.."

He smiled weakly. "I would love that. But no need to risk it."

     "We could still try."

~

I am currently helping Eyanne and Sly build some houses for the new villagers. But Eyanne's been feeling a little antsy.

"Hey, is everything okay?" I ask.

"Did you try sensing the new villagers?" She answered. With a worried tone

     "Well, smart but I didn't. I guess I'm dumb." I shrugged.

"Can you try and sense them now?" She pleaded.

     "What? Why?"

     "Please.." She was feeling anxious.

"Whoa whoa whoa. Is something wrong?"

Just then, Yoli came flying down with Laurance. What the hell?

"You know there's a lot of Shadow Knights out there, right?" Laurance jumped down.

Then Kawaii~Chan and Nekoette came running towards us.

     "Kawaii~Chan is sensing a Shadow Knight's aura.." Kawaii~Chan.

"Not just 'a' Shadow Knight. A whole bunch of them!" Nekoette.

"Whoa, guys. Calm down. Logan would've known, so it's probably cause they can be trusted." I say.

"I suppose so. But for now, I'll be staying here until we can confirm things." Laurance.

     "I'm staying, too." Yoli.

"Does Aphmau~Senpai know about this?" Kawaii~Chan.

"Yes, and she's back in Iraija preparing things. But she isn't jumping to any conclusions just yet." Laurance.

I sighed. "You guys are overreacting. Let's just go back to where we were."

Kawaii~Chan nodded and she grabbed Nekoette and left. Yoli, too, left. But Laurance remained with me and Eyanne. Speaking of Eyanne, she still seems shaken.

"Hey, Eyanne? You still want to go on? We could rest for a bit." I suggested.

She looked at me blankly then fell to the ground.

"Eyanne!!" Me and Laurance rushed to her.

     "She's out." Laurance said.

"We have to get her to the village." I say, lifting her up.

"Wha-- Let me get her." Laurance.

He seems to have forgotten I'm an Ether, but I guess it would hurt his pride.

I handed him Eyanne and we ran to the town square. So far as we got there, Alexis noticed us immediately and rushed to our aid.

"What happened? Is she alright?!" Alexis.

"She just suddenly passed out." Me.

"Let's head to Kawaii~Chan's house. It's closer and she would know what to do." Alexis.

~

"Eyanne~Chan was just tired. She'll be up in no time." Kawaii~Chan. "I'll let you guys be with her. Nekoette~Tan, let's go."

As soon as they left, I turned to Laurance. "She wasn't just tired, Laurance."

     "What?" Laurance.

"She was begging me to sense everyone who was from O'khasis.. But she didn't say why.."

"We can always ask her once she wakes up. And for the time being, you should do as she told you to. Something should be off if she panicked to the point that she passed out."

I nodded and did so. "Laurance...we're in trouble."
