lightning flashing across the clouds

lighting up the blackened night

thunder pounding against the sky

with sticks of iron against metal bars

can't you see it's hell up there

that's why waters running here

it doesn't know that earth's much worse

than any hell above this earth

they didn't know it was so much worse

down on the unforgiving streets

that which they fall upon

not knowing what lay before them

they hit and they splatter

bursting open

like glass shattering upon the ground

was the prison you live in like mine

is that why you ran

so far away

away from the heavens

to this hellish plane

or are you tears

from someone who lives up there

you're the tears that cry for us

to try to cleanse the bad

but no matter the countless timeless you cry

and wipe clean our slate

the darkness will come back

and consume us all with hate
