CHAPTER 25
"I already told you what you need to do," he says, pulling my face to the front of his pants. I look at Nate, and I can see in his eyes he doesn't want me to, but I can't watch him die from electrocution. It'll haunt me forever if that happens.
"I'll do it. Please stop!"
"No, honey, you go first," he says, unzipping his pants. He's about to pull out his cock when a voice outside stops him.
"That's enough, Gordon," I hear Walden say from outside. I never expected I'd be happy to hear his voice.
"Okay," the disgusting man says and stops electrocuting Nate. I quickly run toward my mate to check him.
"Nate are you okay?" I ask, lifting him off the ground and helping him sit up.
"I'll live," he says hoarsely. He sounds in a lot of pain. His eyes are glued to Gordon, and I can see he's planning his death in his head.
"I see you met my son. He takes after me, doesn't he?" Walden asks, walking into the room. Nate doesn't say anything and continues to glare at Gordon. I pity him when Nate gets back to full strength. Nate will tear him to pieces. "Take them away," Walden says, and two men appear from behind.
One drags me away from Nate and out of the cell. He removes my old chains and puts new ones on. They're silver chains and they hurt like hell. The other man does the same to Nate. They drag us in different directions. I think about asking the man where he's pulling me but decide against it.
The man drags me down a dark, smelly corridor. I smell werewolves, and I can tell they're hurt. I wonder how many of us they have here. He throws me into a room filled with women after removing the chains from my hands.
I look around the room, and it's filled with she-wolves. All of them are injured and bloody. They look like they haven't bathed in days, and they also smell like it. Roughly counting, there look to be about fifty of us here. I don't think Nate knows all these she-wolves are missing. Did their families not report them?
I look around the room, and realize this cell is far different from the other one we were in. It has another door across. I don't have to wonder why for long because the door opens, and a she-wolf walks in, in wolf form. She looks like she just came back from a fight and barely won. They are claw marks all over her body. Why was she fighting with another werewolf? Why a werewolf when there are humans they must unite against? Werewolves should come together and try to escape this horrible place.
I come back from my thoughts when I hear my name called from where the injured she-wolf came from. I slowly walk toward the door and take a deep breath before I walk out. What I see is beyond my imagination.
I don't know the best words to describe it. Now I know why that she-wolf came back bloody. There's another werewolf across the room looking barely alive. She's covered in blood and claw marks. You can tell she fought hard. I finally understand what's really happening when I hear the chanting from above.
I see hundreds of humans cheering and shouting. I didn't know this many humans hated my kind. I'm in a fighting arena. The fighters are werewolves and the audience is made of humans. It seems they make werewolves fight against one another for their sport. These humans are sick and cruel.
"Ladies and gentlemen, here live with us tonight is the werewolf King's mate and the werewolf King himself," a voice says from above.
A cry of pain escapes me as I feel a burn on my back. "Move it, you animal," Gordon says, whipping me with a silver chain.
I walk into the arena and stop when I reach the middle. I see Nate walking in, and I try to move toward him when Gordon whips me again.
"Don't move, you animal," he barks, hitting my back two times. I wince every time the chain slices me and try my best to not cry.
"Don't touch her," Nate growls at Gordon. He moves forward to attack but stops as they electrocute him.
"Nate," I scream as I watch the horror happening again. "I'm fine, don't worry, it didn't hurt," I tell when the electrocution stops so he won't try to break out of his chains again.
"Calm down, werewolf King. You'll have plenty of time to rip heads off," the same voice from above says. He sounds a familiar. "Bring out the vampires," he says. I become as pale as a ghost when I register what they intend.
I thought he'd want us to fight against other werewolves, not vampires. I didn't smell a vampire when I walked in. I didn't even know they hunted vampires. I look at Nate, trying to tell him with my eyes that I'm scared. We can't mind link because of the silver in his system. He uses his eyes to reassure me.
He's right. Everything is going to be okay. All I have to do is remember his training.
I smell them before I see them. I immediately shift into my wolf. Nate can't change, so I have to protect both of us. I hope I can do it. I don't attack first, instead I wait for the vampire to. The male runs toward me with his mouth open and fangs ready. I jump in the air and use my paws to hit him as hard as I can. I'm able to push him into a wall.
I look at Nate to see if he needs help, but he doesn't. Even in human form, he can hold a vampire by the throat and squeeze the life out of them. I'm watching him kill the female vampire when the vampire digs his fangs into my fur. I try to push him off with my paws but fail. I start to feel him draw, even through my thick fur.
Nate throws the vampire he was choking at the one sucking the life out of me. Werewolves are strong, but to throw another creature in human form isn't something we can all do. As the female vampire Nate threw collides with the vampire on my neck, I quickly stand up before they can get themselves back on their feet.
"Guys, I think it's boring watching the werewolf King beat up vampires. What do you say I make it more interesting?" I recognize the voice from above now. It's Walden. It's been him from the beginning.
The crowd cheers loud and chants for him to make it more interesting. Stupid humans.
"Let's give the people what they want. Release the rogues," Walden says, and cages around us open.
Four rogue werewolves who've lost their sanity are released into the arena, ready to draw blood. The first one to attack me doesn't stand a chance. I'm not the strongest wolf, but with Nate's recent harsh training, a rogue isn't difficult for me to take down anymore. I put her down, but I don't kill her. She's just an unlucky wolf who's lost her humanity and doesn't know what she's doing.
After making sure I don't kill her, I look toward Nate to see how he's handling himself. He seems to need help. He has two rogues attacking him and a vampire who's about to dig his fangs into Nate's neck. I quickly run to help. I use my paws to throw one of the wolves off. I fight the rogue as quickly as possible, so I can help Nate with the other two beings trying to kill him.
Not more than ten seconds after taking down the second rogue, I'm attacked by the vampire from earlier. This time around, I'm not going to let him win. I jump on him to push him down, and once he's under me I pin him down with my paws before using my teeth to rip his head off his body.
I wolf-grin as I fling his head to his mate. She screams as she sees her mate's head drop by her feet. She quickly leaves Nate and runs to attack me. She jumps up high and lands on my body like a bat. I try to wiggle her off as she tries to bite me. I realize it'll be challenging to get her off, so I fall backward and try to crush her with my weight. I can't crush her, but I'm able to get her off. With her under me, I rip her head off her body.
I hear a bell ring.
"You've seen it, folks. The werewolf King and his mate are no ordinary couple. That'll be all for tonight. See you tomorrow!" Walden says.
It's over. Finally. I don't think my body could handle killing one more soul. I don't know how I pushed through the pain in my shoulder and killed four supernaturals. Nate's training really paid off even though this isn't what we were training for.
I walk toward Nate, still in wolf form because I can't change back yet. If I did, I'd be naked in front of everyone. Once I'm in front of him, I bend down to his level.
"You did well tonight," Nate says, rubbing my fur. I close my eyes as I enjoy the feeling of his hands on my fur. The beautiful moment between us is interrupted when Gordon suddenly whips me.
"Change back to human form," Gordon says.
In the process of whipping me, he hits Nate's hand. Before I realize what I'm doing, I growl and take menacing steps closer to him. I want him to know the consequences of hurting my mate, but then something pierces my fur. I look at my right leg, and I see another syringe. I start feeling dizzy, and darkness takes me away.
