In my creative writing class we did a whole section on screenplays. This is the first screenplay i have ever written so it kinda sucks XD

MARISA AND RACHEL ARE 24

Ext. A park- Day

The park is full of life. Kids are on the play ground, people are walking their dogs, an old couple is jogging. The CAMERA focuses in on a MARISA. She is on a bench strumming on her guitar and humming slightly. Her friend RACHEL is snapping pictures every few seconds. RACHEL adjusts the camera and continues to snap pictures, switching angle positions frequently.

RACHEL

Perfect! Tilt your head a little bit.

MARISA tilts her head.

RACHEL

Excellent! Keep that pose.

MARISA

(Slightly whiny)

Are we almost done? My neck is starting to hurt.

RACHEL

(Puts hand across chest)

Do not rush perfection.

RACHEL goes back to snapping pictures. MARISA sighs, but remains still.

RACHEL stands up.

RACHEL

And that is a wrap ladies and gentlemen!

These pictures are going to look amazing.

MARISA

(rolls her eyes, but smiles)

I bet they will ‘cuz they’re pictures of me

RACHEL

(Scowls)

Haha Funny.

MARISA

I’ll see you tomorrow, I guess.

MARISA turns to leave, but RACHEL grabs her arm and faces her.

RACHEL

What’s the matter? You seem depressed.

MARISA

(unsure)

I’m fine

RACHEL

(rolls eyes)

I’ve known you long enough to know that that

is a load of bull. Please tell me?

MARISA

(Firmly)

No.

RACHEL

Ah! So there is something.

Marisa slaps herself in the face and sighs.

MARISA

Nothing I can tell you about. I’ll see you

Later.

MARISA turns and starts to walk away. RACHEL follows.

RACHEL

(in a wondering tone)

I wonder what this secret is about.

Do you know some sort of government secret that

you weren’t supposed to find out? It really was

aliens that crashed in Roswell, wasn’t it?

RACHEL looks at Marisa, who ignores Rachel and continues walking.

RACHEL

I knew it!

Marisa

(annoyed)

Has the thought of ‘Hm, maybe this secret

Could affect me’ cross your mind? You should

just go home and work on my album cover.

RACHEL

To answer your question, no that thought

has never crossed my mind. (Determined) I

will find out your secret.

MARISA

Good luck.

Marisa and Rachel continue walking. Rachel looks suspiciously at Marisa.

MARISA

(annoyed)

Stop looking at me like that! It’s creepy.

RACHEL

(puts fingers to temples)

Shhhhh, I’m trying to read your mind.

Marisa rolls her eyes and stops walking. She turns to Rachel.

MARISA

(reluctant)

Fine. (sighs) I’m… Pregnant.

Rachel’s eyes widen and she takes a step back.

RACHEL

(excited)

I knew it! I can plan the baby shower, right?

MARISA

(Smiling)

Sure. You’re not mad? You don’t think this

will ruin my career?

RACHEL

Probably, but that doesn’t matter! You’re

gonna have a baby!

Marisa and Rachel start walking again. They are heard talking about baby names and laughing.
