New School
Author's note: Alright so for my veterans out there you know what your getting into. For the newbies of the group prepare for insanity BWAHAHAHAH!!!!
"Alright the first day of School this is gonna be interesting" I said as my mother and step father sat in the front talking about what a great day this was gonna be. Needless to say I was nervous for what was to come. I applied for this school and was 1 of just 3 to get into the school.
"Honey are you listening?" My mom asked
"Huh? Oh um sure mom." I responded snapping out of my daze
"Then what did I just ask?"
"You were talking about the School right?"
"(sighs) Gabe I was just asking you if you knew where to go once we enter the school." She said annoyed
"I'm pretty sure the teachers are going to tell us where to go mom."
We just pulled up to the school and it was like I remembered from the tour. This place only held a few hundred kids so it wasn't over crowded by any means. It was renovated from a small factory that shut down a few years back. My step dad funny enough used to be on the school board and was the one to use the board's money to buy, renovate, and recreate the factory into the school before me now. He even cut the ribbon to the school, but I wasn't going to tell anyone that.
I taught myself that you should never treat your parent's success as your own. I am naturally self disciplined and show a lot of respect to my teachers and peers. However I didn't like people a whole lot so I wanted to study in a small school. The reason being is that I'm extremely empathetic and I read people's personality subconsciously. This was something I've had my whole life and it really messed with my view of the world and how I developed emotionally. I'm 15 with the maturity of an adult when I'm at school or when talking to someone with authority.
Well more on that later I'm about to walk into my new torture cha- I mean school (yeah that's what I meant hehe). Alright here I go I hope this works out guys wish me luck. Oh wait this is in the past I guess that means... you know what never mind you get the idea.
"Alright Gabe lets get in line" my mother said
"Aren't you optimistic." I said tiredly as I secured my place in line
"Yes, yes I am and you should be too after all your the one who applied to this school show some excitement!"
"Mother it is 7:00 in the morning there isn't any optimism in me normally how am I supposed to be excited now?"
"Next!" the man at the counter yelled
"Hello this is my son Gabriel he should be registered"
The man flipped through his papers before replying "yes mam he's on the list. Students go to the gym and parents to the media center both located to your right. The gym is at the end of the hall next to the back doors.
"Alright honey I'll see you later good luck." mom said before hugging me. The funny thing is I'm 6 ft. and she barely breaks 5 ft. so she barely comes up to my chest.
"Love you too mom, but you don't have to stab my chest with you chin oof." I say laughing
"I made you I get to hug you that's the rule." She says joining my laughter
"Alright good luck slick we'll catch you later." Josh says as he and my mother walk over and enter the media center. Just to clarify Josh is my stepdad who I call Josh based on habit. Oh and just so you know I'm not using my parent's real names for identities sake.
I walk into the gym and a wave of emotions hit me like a truck. I immediately go nervous and wanted to back out. No, wait I couldn't I had to be a man (or at least a chubby angsty teen). I went and took a seat on the bleachers. I sat and waited for a few moments before seniors in red shirts called for out attention.
"Alright everyone if I can have you attention we would like to introduce ourselves." A man in a red shirt said.
I sat there and waited as they introduced themselves, and what profession that they are going into. When they finally finished they called out names that assigned us to one of the red shirt's groups. We did ice breaker activities and all that basic stuff. When we got to go to lunch to eat provided sandwiches and chips.
"This line is pretty long." I stated to no one in particular. I didn't care if the line was long I had a lot more patience then most people my age.
"Hello!" a girl with short brown hair said as she appeared out of nowhere.
"Uh, Hi" I said caught off guard. I didn't know who this girl was, but she had the same eyes as mine only... different.
"My friend wants you to come and sit with us!" She said with way more energy than I could muster right now. I looked over to see a girl that I had meet in line.
We said like two sentences for each other. Hell it wasn't even enough for me to put in the paragraph vaguely describing the introduction process. Oh um sorry guys didn't mean to break the fourth wall there.
"Uh sure why not?" I said with a grin on my face. I was finally making some friends and it was just the orientation.
"Alright we're sitting right there just come on over when your done getting lunch." She said and then proceeded to jog back to her table.
(Huh something about her doesn't feel... right) I thought as she sat down. I finished getting my lunch, and sat down at their table. One of the guys who was in the same group as me was sitting down at the table. We talked to each other a bit, and I felt happy for the first time in nearly 3 years.
Yes that's depressing, but hey I'm an chubby, angsty teen what are you gonna do? Alright I'll stop interrupting the story for now (Not really expect more fourth wall breaks >:) sue me hehe).
I decided to get a reading on the people at my table. Ginger girl I met in line was up first. She was nice, a bit shy, not sure about sexuality, but then again who isn't confused about that at our age (oh right me I'm straight and single ladies ;) lol). She seemed to be average maybe slightly above average intelligence with a normal home life. The only other guy of our group seemed straight, normal, funny, a bit soft spoken, but overall a pretty good guy. Now the short brunette haired girl I had trouble reading. This was rare to mean I felt a mixture of pain, happiness, humor, but more than anything else was confusion. I've never met someone I couldn't just read, but I left it alone I just needed more time.
I know I've shattered the fourth wall twice already, but here is some advice for you guys. If you are empathetic and learn how absorb people's emotions and read their personality based off those emotions like I have I got some advice for you. I you can't tell the personality type of someone you read keep on your guard. My veterans know what went down in the last story between me and this girl.
After lunch we returned to our groupings and went to the last two rooms with activities. Some of these activities were trust exercises, ice breakers, or just listening to the power points that the teachers made for us describing the school.
After all that work we finally got to leave. As I was walking to the parking lot I saw the ginger haired girl (lets call here Anna for identity protection's sake). I walked up to her to say goodbye, and that I'll see her in a few days. As I entered the car my mother stopped and looked at me.
"Who was that honey?" She said with a big grin on her face.
"Just someone who I met today mom." I said groaning. She always did this to me whenever I met a girl.
"Ugh every time!" I yelled as she drove out of the school and entered onto the highway
"Did you make any friends today aside from that girl?" She inquired
" Yes I met Mitchel (the guy in our group), and Sophie (the girl with the short brown hair)." I said a little upbeat
"Well I'm glad your making friends." She responds happily while still keeping her focus on the road in front of her.
When we got home I hooked up my xbox 360 and started to play some Borderlands 2. I played until it got to around 10:00 at night.
"Damn you psycho midget and your crazy axe!" I screamed at my xbox when I caught a glimpse of the time. Sighing I got up and changed into my pj's. I pulled up youtube and put on some white noise. I need noise to help me fall asleep or else it takes me hours.
When I lay in bed a talk to myself. I know its weird and I'll probably grow up to be a serial killer, but hey I'm not there yet so don't judge. I talk to myself about my day and how my life has been. It can take me hours to fall asleep like this, but its whatever.
However if I really need to fall asleep I do this thing where I relax or clench my muscles (I'm not really sure how to describe it), and I get this really tingling feeling throughout my body. Its so weird, but it tires out my muscles and helps me sleep.
Hey its me the destroyer of your fourth wall. I know this sounds weird, and your probably saying that I made the tingling feeling in my muscles up and that I'm just lying to seem cool. I'm not I don't know what it is my parents can't do it, my family can't, and neither can my friends. I read some stuff up on the internet, but I'm going in to talk to my doctor about it. For all I know it could be some kind of diabetes or something. Anyways that's enough ranting lets get back tot he plot.
I started to drift off to dream land. I was happy that I was going back into school again. I kept thinking about how I might make normal friends and that this high school would be relaxed. I did not know what I had in store for me next.
To be continued...
