This is a sort of companion piece to 'Better To Be Lovesick Than Actually Sick' in which you find out what Futakuchi needed, but you don't need to read it to know what happens here. Based on my 'Rainy Day Scenarios prompt', specifically 'rescuing a puppy/kitten'. Also my fucking laptop crapped out on me TWICE so I had to rewrite parts TWICE. I swear one of these days I will kill apple.

Futakuchi sighed, opening up his umbrella. The rain had started halfway through the day, only to pick up just before Date Tech students left. It only got worse by the time practice had ended. No one could come get him so here he was. Some people liked the rain, he wasn't one of them. He was wet and cold and god damn he just wanted to go home and-

Nope he's not hearing things. There is defiantly a cat nearby. Even if he was miserable his love of animals compelled him to try and look for the poor creature. It led him to an alley. It was dark and creepy. The rain wasn't helping. He was nervous, but went in. Lucky for him, he didn't have to stay long. Next to the dumpster was a box, when he squat down he found the source of the noise: a small white kitten curled up and shivering in the corner. The wet cardboard and soaked blanket scrap doing it no favors. He closed his umbrella, before carefully reaching in and putting one hand under it and one around it's back before gently moving it out of the box. He held it close to his chest, trying to share his own body heat. He frowned, he had no idea what to do. He wasn't allowed to have pets.

But he knew who did.

Aone was used to his mother bring home animals, It happened 4 times after all. First it was a blind cat, Akasuki, then a 3 legged dog, Genki, then a perfectly fine cat but she got attached anyway, Yumeji, thencause he said they were interesting and boom, Ji the turtle.

Now his close friend Kenji was new. A knock at his door led him to get up from the kitchen table where he was doing his homework to see who it was. When he opened it, Futakuchi was there, soaked and holding an equally soaked kitten.

"Hi. So I found this kitten in the rain. I'm not sure what I should do but I figured you do. So...help me?" a nod and he stepped aside so Futa could walk in, then shut the door behind him. Genki imminently ran over barking. Aone may had been quiet but with both the him and Akasuki his house wasn't. He smiled and squatted down "Hey buddy. I'd pet you but kinda have my hands full." he turned back to talk to Aone but he was gone.

Eventually he had come back, he was upstairs and held out a hoodie and pair of pants "What's that for?"

"You.You're soaked. Borrow these."

"Ah. Thank you." He carefully traded the kitten for the clothes before heading to the bathroom to change.

The clothes were kinda big on him. He wasn't that short compared to Aone, but he was broader. When he came back, the kitten was dried and eating from Akasuki's bowl. Futa doubts she'll be mad.

"What should are you gonna call him?"

"....Her."

"Huh?"

"It's a girl"

"Oh. Okay then what will you name her?"

"I'm not going to keep her."

"What about your mom?" He smirked. He knew damn well she would want to keep her.

"....Aiko."

"Hmm?"

"Aiko. It means little love."

"You're such a sap." Futa said as he wasn't gay panicking inside. He wonders how someone so intimidating be so cute.

After feeding themselves, they ended up watching tv. Right now it was some nature documentary about bears Aone wanted to watch. Futakuchi wasn't really into it but watched it anyway. Both Akasuki and Yumeji were in their cat tree. Genki was resting at the boy's feet chewing on a bone. Aiko was on Takanobu's lap, he was petting her. She was letting out little purrs which caused him to smile. If Futakuchi hadn't already fallen for him this would be the moment he did. Maybe that's why he had the urge to hold his hand, to indulge himself. He didn't even realize until he felt his hand over the others.

It was an accident but he couldn't help but take it in his own "You're warm." It wasn't a lie. Aone was always warm for some reason.

Takanobu flushed, Kenji was confused until he felt the hand leave his after an arm wrapped around him pulling him close and he was blushing now too. But he did feel warm. He rested his head on the others shoulder "Thank you."A huff. Futa chucked.

The night went off with anymore issues, at least until much later. Maybe it was the warm or the rain but Kenji could fell himself nodding off.

"Love you...." He was tried and sleepy and warm. Futakuchi didn't even realize what he said.

But Aone did.

Futakuchi woke up in a less than stellar way. He had rolled over in his sleep and had woken up when he fell of the couch with a thud.

"Ow!" He sat up rubbing the sore spot his head. The blanket that had been draped over him had tangled up with his legs when he fell. The pillow was still on the couch.

Yumeji let out a huff, not happy that his sleep was disturbed. Genki on the other hand came over and gave his face a lick "Thanks buddy." He gave the dog a scratch behind the ear before getting up. He found Aone in the kitchen, was washing dishes.

"...I made breakfast. Yours is in the stove." a quick check found it

"Ah. Thanks." He took a seat at the kitchen island, trying to start a conversation. Aone didn't talk much but did respond here and there. But not this time. "Hey, is there something on your mind?"

"...Do you remember what you said?"

"Huh?" Futakuchi spoke through a mouthful of toast

"You...said something in your sleep."

"I did? What did I say that's got you so messed up? I'm sorry for whatever I said. What did I say?" No response "Um...Did my big mouth really make you this bad-"

"You said you loved me."

"I-what?" A clink of a dropped fork hitting a plate.

"Kenji-" And like a coward he ran.

Kenji went to the only place he could think of that would give him privacy: the bathroom. He shut the door behind him leaning up against it 'Oh god what did I do.' he slid down till he was sitting on the tile 'Damn, I really put my foot in my mouth this time, I'm so stupid' he lets out a groan.

He needs help. He has no idea what he's doing and is screwing up as a result. But who can-Moniwa! Right, his former captain has been dating Kamasaki for a while now (It still boggles his mind how an asshole like Kamasaki got with someone as sweet Moniwa)

He whips out his phone and sends him a text 'Moniwa-san I need your help.' No response. He sends another 'Please I fucked up and panicking rn' He doesn't know wether to scream or cry, leaning towards the former when after 5 minutes there's no response.

'Did...did he just leave me on read?!' He's well aware he was an ass but why now. Moniwa is no longer his favorite senpai, maybe Sayasa would want that role. It sure as hell ain't gonna be Kamasaki. What now?

....He's gotta face this. He stands up, takes a deep breath for courage and opens the door....

...Only he comes face to face (well more like chest) with Aone. He had his hand raised up into a fist, as if he was just about to knock.

"Oh. Were you going-Never mind, I need to tell you something okay?" A nod from Aone "I like you. Like alot. I don't know when it happened but it did and I'm afraid to fuck things between up because were close friends but you were really nice and I was tried and and warm and just...Fuck." he looked down at the floor, a wet laugh escaping him. "I'm not going to say I didn't mean that, because I did. I..." Futakuchi starts but doesn't really know where he's going with that last part. Thankfully for him, Aone pulls him into a hug. Kenji can't help but flinch before returning it.

"...I can't tell if you're doing this to comfort me before rejection or you feel the same." Futa says, hiding his face into the other males neck. He doesn't expect Aone to make a move, mush less cup his face in his own hands before pulling him into a kiss. Kenji doesn't react for a few seconds but eventually melts into the kiss.

"...Does this mean?" He can't help ask after they break apart

"Yeah....I like you too."

"So Aone," He dons one of signature smirks "Do you wanna be my boyfriend?"

Aone lifts up one of Futa's hands to press a kiss against it. Futa smiles genuinely this time. He knows that means yes.

It's 2 hours later when he finally gets a response from his senpai, in the form of a phone call.

"Where the hell were you?" Okay so he's still mad at Moniwa despite the great result.

"Good morning to you too Futakuchi. What's wrong?"

"I took care of it. Where were you?"

"We were sleeping." He's about to call bull, but one word sticks out to him.

"Who's we?" Pure silence.

"Wait I dIDN'T MEAN THAT-"

"No you meant that." He smirked. He has an idea who it is "Is Kamasaki there with you?"

"No!"

"Damn, didn't take you for a morning sex kinda guy."

"We just slept! Nothing more!"

"So he's there."

"I-fine okay, yes Kamasaki is here."

"I knew it. Use protection."

"FUTAKUCHI-" And he hangs up snickering.

Aone is giving him a look 'You shouldn't tease him'

"Aww come on. It's fun." Another look "Okay fine. I'll cut down on the jokes." Takunobu sighs, but presses a kiss to his forehead before leaving, most likely to check on Aiko. Kenji touches the spot where he kissed before smiling.

Guess he found his own 'little' love.

The names for the pets are as follows: Akasuki means bright helper, Genki means lively one, Yumeji means dream and finally Aiko means little love (but you knew that and yes it becomes their child). Ji has no meaning but is rather named for someone. 20 points if you can guess who it is.
