It was a pretty big day for Chespin since it's his first time he is going to participate in a tournament. The tournament was hold by Professor Sycamore when the group was entering a camp to train teamwork. Luxio was helping Chespin train before his turn to battle at the time, but somehow Chespin took the training a bit too seriously. "Alright! I can feel myself growing stronger a little!" Said Chespin with full of determination, but Luxio sweatsdrop by this before he asked. "Chespin? Aren't you taking this training a bit too seriously?" "Well it must be what I always do. After all, I can't let everyone get ahead of me. I must do my best as well." Chespin answered before Luxio sighs at this. "Geez, I wonder why you are always like this. What determines you to train very hard?" Luxio asked before Chespin snickers and rubs his nose before he said. "Well, I wanna protect those who are important to me. Especially Fennekin." The name suddenly clicked Luxio's mind before he asked. "Especially Fennekin?" "Yeah, she has been caring towards me, so I can't let her care go to waste. I have to repay my debt." Chespin answered which made Luxio smiles at how he care so much for Fennekin. "And also, if I train a lot, I can be really fast so I can snatch even more food!" Chespin added which made Luxio sweatsdrops.

"Hey! It looks like Chespin is training pretty hard huh?" A voice asked, the two saw who was it and it was Pikachu who is walking up to them with Fennekin and Bunnelby behind him. They looked a bit tired before the two ran to them. "What happened to you all?! Did you three got attacked?!" Chespin asked with worries before Pikachu answered. "Well it was those blasted Team Rocket. They trapped Bulbasaur, Squirtle, and Charmander so we went off ahead to rescue them. We're fine." "Well it seems like you guys were in a bit of a brawl, right Chespin?" Luxio asked Chespin but he was closing his eyes while he put his paws in front of him as if he is holding something. "Uhh Chespin? Is everything alright?" Bunnelby asked before suddenly a green light appeared on his paws then he shot it towards the three. They flinched by this, by they notice they were not harmed, but instead they got healed and they feel more energetic than before. "There! I used Synthesis to heal your wounds!" He said before smiling widely. "Wow! Thanks Chespin, now I'm feeling energetic than ever before!" Pikachu said before Chespin giggles. "No problem!"

"Hey guys! It's our turn to battle in the tournament! Come on!" Ash called out before Chespin, Pikachu, and Fennekin ran towards their trainers. Fennekin notice Chespin was with them before she asked. "Chespin? You are with us for this round?" "Huh? Of course I am! I've trained a lot so I can protect my teammates!" He answered while smiling sweetly at her. She looked away while blushing madly. "Oh boy! Chespin is fighting alongside me! I better make sure he is not hurt during the battle!" She thought to herself while looking pretty determined. When the battle finally started between Pikachu, Chespin, and Fennekin versus Squirtle, Bulbasaur, and Charmander; they all then prepared their battle stance. Squirtle went ahead first to use Aqua Tail towards Fennekin, but Chespin blocks the attack when he came in front of her using Vine Whip then he threw him away to Bulbasaur before he looked back at Fennekin. "Are you alright?" He asked before she nodded in response. Pikachu went ahead towards Charmander and use Thunderbolt while runs towards Squirtle to attack using Vine Whip, then Fennekin runs towards Bulbasaur to use Ember.

Charmander try to counter Pikachu's attack using Ember, but some electricity went through the fire and hits him. Squirtle try to use Aqua Tail to hit Chespin's vine using Aqua Tail, but it only results both of them getting pushed away. Bulbasaur suddenly use Mud Slap towards Fennekin to put out her Ember, the attack was super effective against her, she got thrown away and she fell really hard on the ground. Chespin quickly run towards Fennekin then hold her on his arms. "Fennekin?! Are you alright?!" He asked with full of worries, she shook her head while looking at him with weak eyes. Chespin put Fennekin down on the ground slowly while looking pretty angry about this. "Pikachu!! Let's beat them together!!" He shouted before Pikachu nodded and they run towards their enemies. Chespin blasted Seed Bombs towards them but Pikachu strike the attack using Thunderbolt that made the seeds fell in front of the three but the seeds suddenly explodes electricity and paralyzed them. Pikachu and Chespin then use their best moves, Seed Bomb and Thunderbolt all together that made an explosion then their enemies fainted by the bizzare combination. "Yay!! We won!!" Pikachu and Chespin cheered together happily before the high fives each other.

After the battle is over, everyone was gathering together under the night sky. Chespin walks up to Fennekin who looked pretty down about her losing to the battle. He sat down beside her before he asked. "Hey, why so down?" She looked at him with a sad look before she said. "I lost the battle... I'm too weak..." Chespin was shocked about the statement before he said. "Hey now. Don't feel so down, if you were not fighting with us, I wouldn't be able to have so much confidence on winning the battle. I have to be thankful that you joined forces with us." His words made her feel better before she smiles at him and said. "Thanks Chespin. That means a lot to me." Then some fireworks were blasted off to the sky, leaving some pretty pattern on the night sky. The two of them watches the fireworks with a glad feeling along with everyone around them. "I'm very glad to be with him all this time. But... what is this feeling that I have in me whenever I'm near him?" Fennekin asked herself in her mind.
