ash's go-to outfit is very lightweight but advanced ballistic armor underneath an unsuspecting grey tank top and army green pants. a machete holster, a pouch for ammo, and a pouch for stimpacks are attached to her utility belt. on a hot day, she'll wear the hat preston gave her when she became general of the minutemen. in colder weather, she dons her father's hooded, insulated, tan-colored winter coat.

. CHILDHOOD .
ash's father was an active duty soldier, and consequently rarely home. despite this, she was very close to her father and deeply treasured the little time she had with him.

her mother was still attending high school when she became pregnant with ash. a year after ash was born, her mother graduated high school as valedictorian, worked two full-time jobs for four years, then continued on to law school. ash's mother often struggled to pay the bills, but her persistence, determination, and good work ethic always caused loose ends to meet. therefore, these same qualities were instilled into ash at a very young age.

due to ash's mother's busy schedule, ash subconsciously felt pushed aside. she wished that she had more time to bond with her mother. however, she did not wallow in it. she made herself useful, which often included washing the dishes, doing the laundry, and other trivial chores such as those. anything to make her mother's hectic schedule flow a little easier.

when she was 14, her mother gave birth to shaun. because ash's father was overseas and her mother passed out from exhaustion, ash was the second person to hold her brother (the first person being the doctor of course). ash's exuberant face was the first thing shaun saw when he opened his eyes, and from that moment on ash felt a powerful connection to her brother and never ceased to fiercely and loyally protect him.

. SCHOLASTIC .
when ash was 8, her mother earned a law degree and began working as human rights lawyer, and her mother's characteristics were mirrored in ash. in school, ash saw corruption for what it was. bravely and fearlessly, she defended the broken / beaten and stood up to the bullies. she knew the boundary between good and evil, and she was not afraid to call out evil as she saw it. when coupled with a fiery temper and witty remarks, this often landed her in trouble with the school administration.

with her father being caucasian and her mother being african american, ash was something of an outcast at her school. ash understood she couldn't change her skin color, and she couldn't change the time period in which she lived. that didn't stop the racist retorts and remarks from crawling under her skin. this initiated thoughts of self-loathing and self-deprecating thoughts to enter her mind.

at first, school was never ash's priority. instead, she threw herself headfirst into various jobs in an attempt to contribute to paying for basic groceries and house payments. she graduated high school at age 17, neither at the bottom or top of her class. she attended boston university, and at 23 years old, she graduated with a bachelor's degree in criminal justice.

. CAREER .
her love for justice and 'doing the right thing' led her to pursue a career in criminal justice. more specifically: becoming an fbi agent. it was a hard job to get into, but she set her mind to it. she made connections and consequently achieved her dream.

for four years she was on the front lines, going undercover and participating in police raids. her job gave her a sense of duty and accomplishment, and she was proud to serve her country by enforcing the law.

(as previously stated) ash has a strong sense of what's right and wrong and helps others less fortunate. however, she has a low tolerance for certain mannerisms and behaviors, and she tends to confront those problematic people head-on.

she is fiercely loyal to her loved ones and does everything in her power to protect them. she is extremely wise beyond her years, and people feel at ease with her around. oftentimes, people come to her with a problem seeking a sound solution.

. STRENGTHS .
the moment she walks into a room, all eyes are immediately drawn to her. she simply has a commanding presence. or maybe they simply find the scar across her eye intimidating. regardless, when she speaks, everyone stops what they're
doing to listen.

she has a very sharp memory.

she has a substantial understanding of military plans and tactical operations due to her father's role in the army and her own in the government.

once again, ash's sharp tongue can act faster than her brain. often, she takes on too many tasks and too much responsibility until it begins to crush her. others being disappointed in her and the thought that her actions aren't enough is a feeling that comes easily but brutally. because of her lion heart, she feels lots of emotions. her emotions blind her sometimes, prompting her to act on them instead of rationally thinking things through.

to see ash smile is like watching the sun rise in the morning. those around her feel rejuvenated, and her happiness is very contagious.

ash's predominant goal is to find her brother, shaun. along the way, she hopes to help the people of the commonwealth to the best of her ability.

she fears that she'll never see her brother again, or that he's already dead and her hard work was for nothing. being forgotten is another prominent fear of hers. she fears that her loved ones might die because of her actions of inactions. she also fears that she will die alone and / or abandoned.

very skilled at close-ranged combat. she handles melee combat with ease. if tasked with fighting a bigger / stronger opponent, she will use their own strength against them. she is agile enough to maneuver around them while they trip over their own feet trying to catch her.

additionally, she handles small guns effortlessly. her aim is deadly and precise. however, the bigger the gun, the more clumsy her aim becomes. this is simply from a lack of training.

despite this,  she prefers to resolve issues with words and without resorting to violence. what, are the people of the commonwealth total barbaric savages? wait, don't answer that.

1. melee weapon(s) :
her first choice in a melee weapon is a machete with a baby blue handle. right before she left vault 109, she found it lodged in the skull of the security guard named barry smith. she always carries a hunting knife in her left combat boot just in case of emergencies.

2. main weapon :
after trading with kleo, ash bought and equipped a mod that caused the bullets of a double-barreled shotgun to explode. if she becomes outnumbered or simply wants to wreak havoc, this weapon would be her choice.
