Chapter 9: Chrissy: The Yakuza's Stand

~A/N: Sorry for the late chapter. My internet wasn't working because it was raining. Hard. Here you go!~

The bell rang and me and Sam left the window and walked to gym. We went in our separate lines and waited for the teacher to tell us to start stretching. He never did.

While everyone started talking, me and Sam decided to investigate. We walked on the stage and into Rowan's office. Inside, we looked to the left. No one. To the right, was Rowan, sitting with Okami. He looked up and spotted us.

"You two," he said in a stern, but quiet voice. "Come here." We sat opposite from him and Okami.

"What is it?" Sam asked.

"Do you know the Yakuza?" Okami asked us. Sam said yes and I just nodded.

"We got something," said Rowan. He handed Sam a note. I leaned over and read it.

"Dear Sam Gladiator, Chrissy Karu, Okami Artist, and Rowan Artifex,

As you can probably tell, this is a ransom note. We have Taurtis. If you want him, meet us at this address at 12:00. Come alone. Come unarmed. Bring 5,000 yen. Maybe then, will we give you Taurtis.

Yakuza"

The address was written at the bottom.

"What?" Sam said after reading it. "Why just us?"

You know Sam, I thought. They want to kill you, and the leader's my father. But why Okami and Rowan?

"I don't know," Okami answered Sam's question.

"Where are we gonna get 5,000 yen?" I asked.

"We have some," Okami said. "But it's supposed to be for Silly for college."

"It's the only thing we can use though."

"I know. But how could this happen? When was the last time you saw Taurtis?"

"Yesterday," Sam said. "He went to Chan Yandere's house after school."

"Then he probably got caught when he was trying to come home."

"Yeah, I guess," I said.

"Meet us outside the school at 11:40 tonight," Rowan said finally. "We'll just get this over with and then we'll get the Yakuza once and for all." I gulped, but nodded. Sam nodded too. Rowan dismissed us, then dismissed the rest of the class early.

Me and Sam couldn't go to the train because it was closed off.

"Guess we're walking then," Sam said. We started off. When we got to the place where the other train stop was, I hugged Sam.

"You'll be there, right?" I asked over his shoulder.

"Yes," he answered quietly.

"Are you scared?"

"Yes. Very much. The Yakuza are pretty dangerous."

"Don't worry. I'll protect you." We broke apart.

"See you there?" he asked.

"Forever. I'll be waiting."

We left each other.

(A/N: Finally! I get to use the love quote of the story!)

~

I stood waiting with Okami and Rowan at the front of the school. Okami was doing her best to stay positive, while Rowan looked angry and dangerous. I didn't dare talk to him. He would probably explode if I did.

Sam finally arrived. He was looking more scared than I felt. As soon as we were ready, we headed towards the address.

I already knew where it was. It was the Yakuza's HQ in this town. Not my father's house, no, but just where his business met. It was a two-story building that had three rooms, I think. When you came in, the first room was we're all the guys sat and mostly played poker. Upstairs was my father's office and a balcony. I think there's a third room, but I'm not sure.

My father was already waiting for us. Behind him, three of his men had surrounded a blindfolded and handcuffed Taurtis and were pointing guns at him. When we stepped in, five more of the Yakuza men surrounded us with guns. My father smiled evilly.

"Do you have the money?" he asked calmly. Rowan nodded.

"Give it to me." Rowan gave my father the briefcase that he was carrying. My father opened it.

"Good," he said. "Exactly what I asked for."

"Now give-" Sam was interrupted by my father.

"Just a minute," he said, giving Sam a look. "There is something you need to know."

Oh no, I thought. Here it comes.

"As I'm sure you don't know, I have a child."

I knew it.

"A daughter, to be precise. She actually has been going to your school all this time."

Sam, please act surprised.

"I didn't invite Chrissy here because she's a friend of Taurtis, no."

Father, no please no.

"I invited her here...because she's my daughter." He grabbed my wrist and pulled me close to him. I gulped and looked down. I heard Okami gasp. I looked up. Sam and Rowan had their mouthes hanging open.

Good job Sam, I thought.

"No...it can't be," Okami said. "She's such a good child."

"And my spy," my father smirked. "How could you not know? I think it was obvious."

In what way? I thought.

"You're sick," Sam said. My father just laughed.

"Have you forgotten what you came for?" he asked. He looked behind him at Taurtis. Sam's eyes grew wide.

"Give us him," he said angrily.

"You can have him," my father said. He snapped his fingers and one of his men pushed Taurtis over to Sam and them. They grabbed him.

"What's going on-?" Taurtis asked. Sam took off his blindfold. Taurtis looked at my father angrily after he realized what was happening.

"You're evil!" he yelled. "Trying to kill Sam, threatening me with two girls that I had some relationship with, laughing in front of all our faces? Who do you think you are?"

"Oh, only if you knew," my father said. "Men, get them out of here." My father snapped his fingers, and the Yakuza men focused all their guns on Sam and them. My father pulled me into the Yakuza building before anything happened. I went upstairs to the balcony and watched, no one seeing me.

The Yakuza men were making Sam and them back farther and farther away from the building. Finally, Sam and them ran away. I watched them run off into the distance.

I hope Okami and Rowan will still be nice to me, I thought. And hopefully Taurtis or even Sam won't blame me for this. Then I almost cried thinking about if Sam decided to avoid me after this. If he just needed some time to get over this before he came back to me. I wondered how long I would have to wait.

Forever Sam. I'll be waiting.
