Chapter 22: Taurtis: Haunted
We stopped at the front of the school (it wasn't that far).
"Should we go in?" Grian asked. "We need a place to take cover."
"Yeah," I said. "Sam, your thoughts?"
Silence. I turned around. Sam was looking at Chrissy, tears forming in his eyes. They had been there a while.
I walked over to him. "Are you okay?"
"Yeah," he said weakly. "I don't know about Chrissy though."
"She'll be okay. Should we go into the school? We can help her there."
"Yeah."
We went inside the school and up the stairs to the second floor.
"In here," Grian said, pointing to an empty room. We went inside, and I shut the door.
Sam laid Chrissy down on the ground. Only then did I realize how bad she was. Dry blood covered the cuts on her arms and legs she had bruises here and there. Her mouth was slightly open.
"I'm gonna go see if I can find a first aid kit," Grian said. He left the room.
Sam leaned over Chrissy. "Chrissy," he said. "Please wake up. You're going to be fine. Just please be okay."
Then they came. The tears. They poured down Sam's face. He sobbed.
Grian came back into the room. "Found one," he said, opening the box in his hands.
He tended to Chrissy as best as he could. He closed the box and stood up again.
Sam didn't hesitate. He held Chrissy in his arms, swaying slightly. He still cried, but silently.
Then I saw Chrissy's hand twitch. She opened her eyes.
"Sam," she said faintly. "You're okay."
"You're okay too," Sam said. "I was worried about you."
"Where are we?"
"The school."
"How?"
"Grian," I said. "He escaped. He somehow got the keys."
"What did they do to you guys?"
There was silence. Then Grian said, "They-they locked me in a room. It was small, smaller than yours. I felt like I was going insane. I-" He didn't finish.
"Taurtis?" Chrissy asked.
"I-I was strapped to an electric chair. Karu, he-he showed me everything. Then he turned it on. I blacked out. When I woke up, I was in some kind of cell. That's where Grian found me."
"Sam?"
"You saw," Sam said to me. "You tell."
"Sam was in sort of the same predicament as me," I said. "He was strapped to what looked like a dentist chair. It was also an electric chair. A man turned it on. It didn't even happen like mine, in quick bursts. It started full shock. It just kept going. I don't know what else happened."
"It didn't stop," Sam whispered. "I don't know how I survived. I just-it didn't even stop after I went out."
"Oh my gosh Sam," Chrissy said, lightly touching his face. "Are you okay?"
"I'm more worried about you," he said, looking into her eyes.
"I'm fine. Come on, let's go. We can't stay here." She put her right hand in Sam's shoulder and stood up shakily. She tried to take a step, but she collapsed. Me and Grian rushed over, but Sam caught her.
"You're not well," he said to her. "I'll carry you."
"I'm fine Sam. Really."
"No, you're not. Let me help."
"Fine."
Sam picked her up bridal-style. I opened the door and we walked out the room, Grian first. Once he turned right, he froze.
"Grian, what's wrong?" I asked. He pointed. I leaned my head outside the door.
There was blood dripping from the ceiling. A ghost stood at the end of the hallway. A certain ghost. It was Gareth.
"Run!" I yelled. "I forgot it was nighttime! It's Gareth!" We ran up the stairs. Then we ran up them again, bringing us to the roof. After everybody was on the roof, I shut the door. We gasped for breath.
I turned around. Sam and Chrissy were staring at something, their mouthes hanging agape. I looked where they were looking. I tell you this, it wasn't Gareth.
Blood was all over the floor of the roof, and another ghost was at the edge. Her brown, ghostly hair flowed in the wind. The small blue streak in it instantly caught my eye. She turned around, staring at me.
It was Salex.
~A/N: oh my gosh. I just edited this. I didn't know I made so many mistakes. I accidentally deleted this chapter, so I had to rewrite it. I'm sorry~
