Chapter 18: Sam: Public Sight

We got outside, seeing that it was right after school.

"I missed a whole day of school?" Chrissy said. I turned around. She was frowning.

"Hey," I said, stepping back and putting my arm around her. "We did too."

"I just-I wonder what Yuki was doing."

"Oh."

We walked up to the front if the school just as everyone stepped out of the gym. Patty and Chan ran over to us. They went to Chrissy. Everyone else got closer, but none of them swarmed Chrissy.

"Oh my gosh what happened?" Chan asked, examining Chrissy's shoulder.

"Yes, do tell." It was Okami. She walked over to Chrissy.

"I-" I saw Chrissy glance at Yuki. I looked at Yuki. She had a smug look on her face, but she was glaring at Chrissy like, don't you dare tell.

"I-I was stabbed," Chrissy said. Everyone gasped.

"Oh my gosh!"

"What?"

"What is wrong with people in this town?!"

"Who stabbed you?" Patty asked.

"There-there was this drunk guy who had a kitchen knife. He didn't see where he was going."

"Oh dear :o," Okami said. "Where were you?"

"Walking home."

"Did you get medical attention?"

"Yes." Chrissy looked at me, Taurtis, and Grian. "They found me."

"Well, you're lucky to have them. Did the police catch the drunk?"

"No. He ran off before Sam and them got there." The talk broke out again.

"Bunny boy saved her?"

"No."

"I don't believe it."

"Is she also making this up?"

Yuki stepped out if the crowd. She walked up to Chrissy.

"Was he there immediately?" she asked.

"No."

"Was the ambulance there immediately?"

"Of course not."

"Lemme ask you this: how does it feel to be dating him?" She pointed at me. The crowd gasped. I glanced and saw Sookie looking disappointed.

"It's great, actually," Chrissy said, walking to my side. She grabbed my hand.

"Does your father know?" Yuki asked, clearly not liking the way Chrissy took her last question.

"Yes. He doesn't care."

"Nerds." Yuki was obviously trying to make Chrissy embarrassed.

"I don't care what you think,"

Chrissy said. "I don't care what anybody thinks." She looked at Sookie. "I don't care what the whole world thinks." Then she started to sing. She tapped her foot and raised her head proudly as she did.

"And he takes me along, when we fly away and play our song. 'Cause even a day is far too long.

"I know he knows I give him everything. Give him courage, give him wisdom, give him strength. For me I only know he'd do the same.

"Now I won't ever be the same, ever since I first saw Sam's face. Now it seemed there's just no other way. I'll win his heart by the dawn of the third day." (A/N: original song is Dawn of the Third Day by NateWantsToBattle. Also, worst. parody. ever. I recommend watching the original song on YouTube. It's Legend of Zelda, and basically the reference song.)

I pulled her close to me. "You already have," I said.

"I know."

Then we kissed. In front of everybody. I knew they were all watching us, but I didn't care. I heard a few people scream, "#SRISSY!" and "OTP!!!" I think it was Taurtis who screamed the ship name.

It wasn't too long of a kiss. We broke apart to see almost everybody's mouthes hanging open. Including Yuki's. I looked at Chrissy. She was smirking. The talk broke out again.

"I SHIP IT! I SHIP IT SO HARD!"

"My new otp."

"No."

"Yes."

"Well I wasn't expecting that."

"That singing! That. Singing! Incredible!"

"I know right?"

I grabbed Chrissy's hand and we walked away from the school, leaving everyone in shock.

"Yuki didn't see that one coming," Chrissy said as we walked in the sidewalk.

"No she didn't," I agreed. "I'm surprised you sang in front of everyone."

"That was a one-time thing. I had to get a point across. Never again."

"Come on-"

"No."

"You sang beautifully though."

"Thank you, bunny boy. But you can't persuade me."

"Dang it!"

I heard running behind us. We slowed and turned around. Taurtis and Grain were behind us, grinning like madmen.

"Guys!" Taurtis said, gasping for breath as he slowed down beside us. "People videoed that."

"Oh no," Chrissy said.

"Yep," Grian said. "People are going to be talking about this for weeks. Everyone ships you."

"Oh no," Chrissy said again.

"I ship you," Taurtis said happily.

"You're crazy," I said.

"Thank you."

"That's, what, the seventh thing that's happened to us this week?" Grian asked. "I lost count."

"Me too," I said. "Next thing you know you'll be Chrissy's cousin and me and Yuki will be siblings!"

"That's something that would happen here," Chrissy said. "And here only."

We laughed. How much crazier could this town get?

Little did I know, it was going to get even crazier than what we could ever dream of.
